TPB only indexes torrents that were contributed by members. TPB is not going out on the general internet trying to find any & all existing torrents. In theory someone could set up a IPFS (IPNS?) site that only lists content/IPFS sites that are manually contributed there, that would be similar to what TPB is & does.
ipfs-search is a IPFS DHT indexer. If you're looking for a torrent comparison look at a site like https://btdig.com/about/, that is a torrent DHT indexer. No one is manually contributing anything to the site, the site's own code crawls the DHT network for content to index into its search engine.

Ah! Gotcha. That makes a lot more sense! Try downloading biggest 2160p file you can find is my advice.
I think this would be your best bet. It's from a group that does their own upscaling and they have developed their own HDR type. And they're very good at it, even better than the studios they've proven at times. At least check it out!

Like I said, WebDLRip doesn't exist, it's WEB-DL. WEB-DL is indeed the file itself. However, unfortunately, WEB-DL is often misunderstood. WEB-DL doesn't mean the uploaded file is lossless, it means the downloaded file is losslessly downloaded. An uploaded WEB-DL can still be a re-encode. Fortunately, WEB-DL's files are mostly directly uploaded for downloading.

But those russian sites is where the pack originates. You don't need to use the included installer (it's only halfway in english), you can unpack everything yourself and it should work fine. The installer just does that for you but the issue I ran into was that some mods were super incompatible to the point of breaking the game, or breaking the item resolver. And since the installer unpacked everything wholesale I found it safer (but much more tedious) to do everything manually. But at least it has all the mods in it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I dunno, kind of feel like you're reading too much into that. If 5 different public torrent indexing sites have the same torrent, with the same torrent hash, then whoever downloads/seeds that torrent will always be in the same torrent swarm. Public torrents are decentralized & are not dependent on specific websites. Granted, finding the torrents could be an issue.. but if the same torrent exists at multiple sites then it should be easy to find.
In fact public torrents also have DHT enabled. So they also show up on DHT crawler/indexer sites like Skytorrents, BTDigg, etc.
No, I don't think so. Was under the impression that SkyTorrents' DHT crawler has to temporarily connect to the torrent swarm to get info like name, number of files, file names, seeds/peers/size.
There are other DHT crawlers that have to do the same thing, e.g. BTDigg, etc.
Someone mentioned https://btdig.com in [an earlier post] (/r/torrents/comments/4okxuz/btdigg/d8t6bh0). Seems like it might be a clone of the old btdigg.org site run by someone else. Unless the old admin/staff re-launched to that domain recently?
