Iplayer has so much potential, even with its apparently small catalogue of programmes.
It's just quite clumsily implemented in my opinion.
I'm sure there are other issues.
The BBC don't have a 4K broadcast channel anywhere and never have.
Virgin have a 4K channel, but there's no BBC content on it.
BBC 4K content is streamed via iPlayer only, and you will have to find the UHD stream. Supported devices are - https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/help/questions/features/uhd-connected-tv/#/Notification

I'll be surprised if Chris Harris isn't involved. He announced yesterday that he is closing down his Patreon campaign. Considering that is how he funded a big chunk of his videos, it's safe to assume he's got a gig elsewhere; hopefully Top Gear.
You can also use a smart DNS service like unlocator. There also torrenting both private and public trackers.
I am not going to comment on the ethics of these methods, but I will say they are very effective.
Series 2 episode 6 (https://sites.google.com/site/qitranscripts/transcripts/2x06) < the transcript for it,
"Alan Is there any evidence that people are a bit more bonkers when there's a full moon?
Stephen No. It's very interesting. There's been a lot of research about it, and there have been a lot of anecdotal evidence that at loony bins, you have to lock them up on a full moon, but actually, there's absolutely no clear evidence whatsoever that people behave oddly on a full moon. That is just nonsense.
Sean Then why do I go out killing?"
I'm not in the UK, but I pretend to be quite a lot because Antiques Roadshow is the shit.
ExpressVPN is pretty cheap and doesn't keep logs. Bandwidth is nice too, because I sometimes forget that it's even turned on!
Sean was also in Series 1 Episode 4 of "Mandy" (available until 2:45am on Tuesday [31 August 2021], it would seem):
"Fish"

I use Proxmate. It's $1 or less a month so you can't really go wrong. It also bypasses the Netflix proxy detection and is open source in case you're worried about what they do with your data.

Check out Last Enemy on Hulu. It aired here in the States as a PBS Masterpiece Contemporary special. It stars a younger, slightly chubbier Benedict Cumberbatch who gets involved in a conspiracy theory. 5 Episode series. I enjoyed it.

of course it links to the wrong series, despite asking me to choose which series I wanted. fucking typical.
Yeah, no legal way, think you're only option is to download Hola Better Internet or some other VPN then tell it to put you in the UK for 4oD.
It's by Channel 4. The other actually good terrestrial channel.
I'm in Canada and I pay for IPVanish. I've previously used and paid for Identity Cloaker. I've never really found a free VPN that worked well consistently on all British sites. It's an option, anyway.
hah fair enough... but seriously Green Wing is brilliant one of my favorite hmm let me check this out... well this is a really strange show -- cut to-- holy fuck this is hilarious finds
and it's on hulu regular
Hello, I'm a bot! The movie you linked is called The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, here are some Trailers
I wish I could confidently help you, but I can only offer a suggestion. BTW, props for whistling the theme tune and uploading it, I can tell this is annoying you not knowing.
Closest I can think of is maybe the Points of View theme. Try HERE for the new version and HERE for the old version which was vastly superior. If not, I will keep thinking, it does sound familiar.
Here's the review of it on cnet- in case that makes a difference. As I understand it cnet is pretty tough about malware but that doesn't mean that I'm 100% sure.
Thanks! The font on the Hemsley + Hemsley one is Imperioosa Regular which I seem to remember getting free in one of Creative Market's Monday giveaways. Basically, if you make an account with them they send out an email every Monday that's got links to a bunch of free stuff (usually stuff like texture packs, some stock photos, a font, a PS action and whatnot). Most of the time the font's some variation on the rash of god-awful brush scripts you see everywhere at the mo, but every now and then you get a real corker like that one. In fact it's probably worth it just so you can laugh heartily when you see that Monday's freebie absolutely bloody everywhere a month hence.
Hey mate, added a new post on here with the others but because you're looking forward to it
I'll be adding more to it as I go along but I thought I've got enough videos on there to begin with so updated all channels today
Same here. This change happened a couple months back now. Just as Masterchef AU was wrapping up. Wife and I love HYBPA and several other Channel 10 shows and we can no longer get to the shows. I use ExpressVPN and tried every available server with no luck. Tried a few other workarounds without luck. Fortunately the ABC is still available.
For those that love panel shows, HYBPA is well worth watching. There is also HYBPA New Zealand which is pretty good too.
Hope there is a workaround by the time Australian Survivor comes back. That is possibly better than the US version.
Pretty good!.
I'm currently using Cisana TV Guide, Android app where you can filter by type (e.g.movie), select a film, then it has a link to the search on IMDB for that title. Would you consider putting a similar link on yours so that people can read the reviews? Often the rating only tells part of the story. I assume IMDB has a search api because I can use the !imdb !bang on DuckDuckGo to search there from my browser address bar.
As mentioned by /u/ausernameitis beebs will work for you on Chrome.
I use Windscribe on Firefox (10gb free per month) which works for all the UK streaming services including UKTV for Dave, ie Taskmaster (as well as their several other channels.)
Failing that NordVPN is my go to for a standalone VPN service which also works very well. (Can even sign in to my UK lottery account which Windscribe etc. doesn't work with.)
I use NordVPN and it works flawlessly. They have specific servers for video streaming.
Also, check out /r/panelshow - there are usually working links there within a couple of hours of the shows airing (streaming and download).
Just out of curiosity, what VPN do you use? I'm also in Canada and I can't find anything decent to watch the BBC Live iPlayer since Zenmate made UK premium :( Everything else is hella slow and crashy. I wouldnt mind paying 30 bucks a year though if its decent!
This works. Just subscribe to a decent VPN service that can let you select VPN locations (I've used VyprVPN. Make sure they can do decent bandwidth streaming as well.
Windscribe and IPVanish have worked for me. Both kill line speed heavily.
ControlD worked then stopped, think it did not update, Smart DNS Proxy should also work. Wanna try an dort this out, after the Christmas rush.
I’ve had NordVPN for years and it’s always worked with iPlayer using the app (desktop, mobile and FireTV apps). You also get smartDNS included. I had problems when connecting to the VPN directly from the router though but if you’re not planning on doing that then I highly recommend it.
I recently tried a VPN (Mullvad VPN) to access BBC iPlayer from the USA and it blocked me despite the different ports and connections I tried. Anyone who has a sure fire VPN method to be able to watch iPlayer or any other online option for UK customers would be amazing!
Astrill with a Private UK VPN location - tell them you specifically want to watch iPlayer and they'll assign you one that works.
My sister does this in Australia and I lived in Asia for a decade - including China which has an extra layer of VPN hassle - and Astrill would always be the one still working when everyone else was moaning about Express or Nord not working.
I also had a router at one point.
You can see S1E1 on Youtube and buy the whole series on DVD from Amazon. It costs around £20 new of £16 used but you might get it cheaper on Ebay.
I tried using NordVPN this morning and the BBC site said No Shetland for you. Sometimes happens, and is usually remedied by changing which UK connection I use, but today I had no joy.
I would imagine it's going to be on BritBox fairly quickly. They've been better about that recently.
BBC iPlayer still works for me in Australia. Though sometimes I'll put the VPN (ExpressVPN) on to one UK location and it gives me the "not available in your location" message, so I just change it to another UK based location and it works fine.
On BBC iPlayer right now - a short, comedy series about trainee barristers fighting it out for a permanent place in their chambers as pupils to their QCs:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0bkbf4t/defending-the-guilty-series-1-episode-1
Hello, I'm a bot! The movie you linked is called The Road to Coronation Street, here are some Trailers
I watch on the BBC's streaming and catch-up service, but I'm not sure whether it's restricted to UK-based IP addresses. If so, you would need a VPN to watch it.
I love Two Doors Down - surprising excellent.
Skip the pilot, very weak - the rest is brilliant.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b072wv8z/two-doors-down
Not on Netflix, but on BBC iPlayer there's a one about the serial killer Harold Shipman.
Not exactly a mystery series but it's close enough.
The most recent exceptional British comedy-drama is I May Destroy You by Michaela Coel. Incredibly honest and refreshing television, new episodes on Monday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/m000jyxy/i-may-destroy-you
Yeah, it's from the first episode of Limmy's Homemade Show. You can watch it here on BBC iPlayer if you have access to iPlayer.
I use JustWatch to find out where something is available to stream/rent/buy. Doesn't look like it's available to stream but you can buy it: https://www.justwatch.com/uk/movie/the-bad-education-movie
Pushbullet + Flexget
I run Flexget on a seedbox. It will automatically check your torrent sites for you, download the torrent file and add it to your torrent client, and if you hook it up to the pushbullet API then it'll also send a notification to your phone. So you don't get a notification when a new show starts, but rather you get a notification each time a new episode of your show is downloaded and waiting for you. You have to compile a list of all your favorite shows, but then you're done. And all of this is free, except for renting a seedbox, but you could also just run it on your home computer.
You could also probably use IFTTT to do something similar, but I'm not expert on that.
EDIT:
If you're lazy or not tech literate, you can just use this - http://episodecalendar.com/ - It doesn't do notifications, but it has a calendar you can reference. I used to use it because I switched to flexget/pushbullet.
Anyone want to reduce what they pay for their Netflix subscription?
Basic - (£2.54/month) Watch on 1 screen in SD quality.
Standard - (£4.21/month) Watch on 2 screens at a time with HD available.
Premium - (£5.93/month) Watch on 4 screens at a time with HD and Ultra HD available.
Usual UK prices: £5.99/£8.99/11.99.
Steps:
1) signup for a Revolut account here: (Free)
revolut - free £10
Download speedify VPN. (Free)
Set country to Turkey on VPN
Open Netflix and it should recognise your from Turkey (and hence offer you turkey prices!).
Sign up for a new Netflix account t and it’ll offer you the reduced pricing in Turkish lira.
Setup the payment to your Revolut card as the transactions will be free.
Done. Nothing further todo. I have had this for the past 2 years. Going by today’s prices I am saving myself over £70/year and no further work is needed.
There's a project to archive Flash games called Flashpoint. Their wiki has a list of all the games they've archived.
Searching "CBBC" on there only has two results :(
Make an account, follow shows. Shows you what airs when what comes back when and allows you to track what you watched already. Has an Android app that I bought just to support this invaluable site :)
Wow that is really cool. The title doesn't do this movie justice. It was one of the best reviewed movies of 2006.
>Who told you its intended for the use of political dissidents?
The project's founding ideals?
Tor's an anonymity network- one of the foremost uses thereof being the dissemination of political material.
Just look at the project's website.
If you want to watch television behind a geographic block, shell out for a proxy of your own- it's not as though they're particularly pricey these days. Don't leech bandwidth from people that might genuinely need it. By just about any definition, using Tor to stream iPlayer video's an altogether cuntish thing to do. The network's slow enough as things stand.
Think about somebody beyond yourself for a second before you throw up a Tor connection to listen to Pandora.
I'm able to watch them on Youtube from outside of the UK. If you download Hola (Chrome or Firefox extension) then you will be able to watch them if you change the country to outside of UK. http://hola.org/
The most I see is like 1 seeder in my Jackett search - just the UK TV tracker with 8 seeders.
https://btdig.com/search?q=anna+and+katy
This site is a good scraper.
I Googled The Paradise Club and the DVD was the first thing that popped up.
It's on Amazon
When we lived in Asia, iPlayer was the the trickiest of all the UK tv apps to get past. They knew. They always knew.
I had to pay Astrill an extra $5 a month for a VIP vpn dedicated to just me, based in London.
That worked flawlessly.
My friend, you are not alone. I have been watching a ton of it lately, and it is glorious. I wish there was more of a CDWM community on Reddit.
Anyway, the app is called All4 and you will need a VPN for it. I use NordVPN and I know that some VPNs, likely the free ones, aren't smart enough to fool the region lock. Don't expect to find some of the more notorious episodes, for some reason Channel 4 doesn't post those, but there is still an obscene amount of content to be enjoyed.
Have fun!
I've lived in China for over a decade, Nord never cut it. Neither did Express. Astrill has been the only one to ever manage to fool the BBC as well as get though the great firewall with reliability.
At sensitive times of the year the China government ramps up the Internet restrictions as well, and I'd see people complaining they couldn't stream British telly with Nord or Express, and I'd be sitting there scoffing cheese on toast whilst watching Homes Under The Hammer, not wanting to rub it in
Astrill with the extra 5USD private VPN location.
That's the only reliable way I've been able to access BBC via a VPN. Them and sometimes ALL4 and Netflix know as well.
I also have the Astrill router which is just blimmin amazing and negates the need for the app at home.
It’s a membership you have to subscribe to if you want to watch it, it’s a PBS masterpiece subscription. I got it and just kept it but you could get the free trail and watch it. That’s what my mom did. It’s worth it! Season 5 is so good!! Its probably the best season of the whole show.
Interesting. You might need to look into installing the VPN on your router. That’s what I had to do to get the iPlayer on my Roku, here in the US. Had to buy my own router because the one I was renting from my IP was not compatible with NordVPN.
Ah, yeah Express is second best I believe.
Because I live in China, it's vital to have a decent VPN and it's discussed all the time amongst the expat community. Generally speaking Astrill is the one that survives the great firewall.
In China, they know about VPNs and can absolutely restrict their use at any time, and they do during sensitive times, like the one coming up - Chinese New Year. People are already complaining that their VPN services are being restricted for it but Astrill seems to find a way through it all!
It has been the most consistent VPN.
What you need to do is buy the subscription with them, and purchase the extra "Private VPN" for another 5USD a month. You get to choose the location of that private VPN, make sure it's a London one. In fact chat to the customer service and tell them precisely that you want to access iPlayer from outside the UK and they will tell you the best one to assign as your private VPN.
You will then be able to watch iPlayer, Channel 4, UKTV Play and all the other streaming services as if you are in the UK.
With astrill you can buy monthly so buy it for one month to try it.
In my experience, the BBC, Amazon Prime and Channel 4 are very good at noticing if you're using a VPN or not, so you need this private 5USD add on so it works.
If you then want to get the router, Astrill also sell that. I believe people still play stuff on their TV via a laptop or whatever but to me that's quite tiresome so I bought the router and connected it to the TV.
They have been playing "Whack A Mole" with many of the VPN's U.K. IP addresses. I am now on my 3rd VPN service, ExpressVPN, and now only one of its U.K. locations will work for me. I expect that to be "whacked" soon.
I currently subscribe to and I'm able to watch anything that requires a US IP address with no problems whatsoever. I would be more than willing to switch my service to support the reddit effort, so long as I got the same sort of service and support.
Some of these shows are no longer that rare:
Threads was remastered on DVD this year.
Apaches is available on Youtube, and on a DVD from the BFI.
Otherwise, best of luck with this!
I've never seen it - my first thought was 'they sound like a Trinny and Susannah analogue' and I wondered if there were any reviews calling them the T&S of food / health, but found it thanks to this book.
Have a look at 'Narrow Boat', and the second series 'Narrow Boat Afloat'.
Basically a chap builds a narrow boat in series 1, then sails around in it throughout series 2 visiting all the old factories and things on the waterway. Found myself stuck infront of this series many Sundays!
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Narrow-Boat-Afloat-Complete-Collection/dp/B00B6RBT92
I've got all the "Charley Says" DVDs - most of the ones on the BFI site are not on those DVDs (except the Charley ones, obviously).
Many of the PIFs on the Central Office of Information site are on the DVDs, though.
All of the "Protect and Survive" films are also available on their own DVD.
Is Jar City worth £30 (£12 used)? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jar-City-Mýrin-Baltasar-Kormákur/dp/B001L5SNHK
woah, Night Shift is £35 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Naeturvaktin-Night-Shift-Icelandic-TV
Night Shift looks to be part of a trilogy, Day Shift and Prision Shift, you seen these?
Wish I could remember who I lent my Snuff Box DVD to, really fancy watching it again...
On a related note, have you heard Matt Berry's album, Opium? Well worth checking out.
If any kids of the 80's get nostalgia from this, you can buy a DVD of it from Amazon for less than £4! (and I'm sure it could be found from other sources also...)
