Trump supporter here. This is something I do disagree with POTUS on. The only thing I can suggest is to get squared away with a good VPN service. This is the best I've found thus far.
If you go to a website it just doesn't load since its flagged right? Or does it record it then email your parents, all of the above?
I'd say let's try a proxy, ~~Ill see if I can find a list of ones that won't be sketchy.~~ DONE
EDIT: Since proxys are free and I don't see you having a budget for a VPN lets get you set up
https://free-proxy-list.net/anonymous-proxy.html
https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/proxy-setup/chrome/
Just instead of nord vpn info put in the IP address of one of the site above, not the cleanest solution but the cheapest!
I stream most of my stuff through Youtube TV.
I use Nord VPN to change my IP to be from the USA and then I can access YTTV.
I then use my laptop to Chromecast to the TV.
It's ALWAYS HD and no lag, and they have basically every game.
You get 6 accounts with a membership, so you can drive the cost right down each.
Edit: Further info on YTTV
I have to Chromecast to my TV instead of HDMI/Airplay to Apple TV because YT somehow knows it's not on the original device and only plays at 480p. (I even have this issue on a second monitor attached to my laptop). The Chromecast connects directly to the internet and streams straight to the device, not through the laptop and then to the TV like Airplay does. This is how I get 1080p.
The VPN is only installed on my laptop, so technically the chromecast is streaming YTTV through my open UK IP address. Apparently once you've signed in on a laptop with a US IP, it's happy to Chromecast to wherever. Who knows if they'll check the Chromecast IP in the future.
YTTV only works through a laptop/desktop. If you use a mobile/tablet it will authenticate your location through the device GPS, NOT your IP address. This is annoying if you only have a phone/tablet and/or are out and about. I have no idea how to spoof this, if anyone knows how to display different GPS data on your phone, please let me know.
You can have up to 6 accounts use one YTTV account, it's like $40 a month, so can be just over $8 a month.
Compared to what we pay in the UK for Sky Sports, it's way cheaper, and there's a lot of the 3PM games. The VPN cost is a thing too, but I'd happily pay that just to be more private/secure anyway, before we even talk about kicking a bag of wind around a field.
There’s no way in hell I’d use Messenger. I trust FB to do the most anti-consumer thing possible in all situations and I’m not giving them more data.
Same for WhatsApp. It has a good security reputation, but no way you can make me believe FB won’t try to subvert it.
Telegram isn’t bad, but I wish private chats were the default (like they are in iOS).
Signal is good. I endorse it.
Here’s a nice write up of secure messaging apps: https://nordvpn.com/blog/most-secure-messaging-app/
Now, tell me which of those that are mostly green we could get all our friends and family to switch to? Messages wins for me because it’s a decent default and has a better security stance than most of the harder-to-adopt alternatives.
I was just writing an email to them.
Hi,
Just read the blog post on your website https://nordvpn.com/blog/nordvpn-false-allegations/ from Daniel. It is quite informative and clears things on the ongoing issue. Good job on it!
But I have one unrelated question to your company/management. You say that you are based in Panama but your finance processing (payment from users) are done by a company based in New York, US. Now we all know that when we do financial processing inside the US, all records have to be kept including who paid whom for what purpose and from what method.
Does this not make your users' privacy and identity vulnerable from the US government?
Thanks.
Best Regards,
A concerned internet citizen.
Pretty sure Nord is decent, but you do know that the reason it scores high on all the 'review' sites is because they pay affiliates like crazy, right? Up to 100% revenue share. Check https://nordvpn.com/affiliate/
I stopped trusting VPN review sites long ago
As suggested multiple times, VPN to circumvent.
If you're short on money, you can try Nordvpn for 3 days, as also Cyberghost for another 7 days.
Prices vary a lot if you want to buy one, here you can compare and sort according to your needs (logs, country, relative price, etc) https://thatoneprivacysite.net/vpn-comparison-chart/
They said in their blog post that they are going to get someone to do that soon.
>We understand that these facts alone may not be enough to clear our name. Therefore, we are hiring one of the largest professional service firms in the world to run an independent audit and verify our ‘no logs’ claim. The audit is expected to be completed within 2 months and will independently verify that the accusations are false.

the whole honeypot thing was a hox set up by a load of shrills https://torrentfreak.com/nordvpn-responds-to-privacy-sensitive-allegations-180830/
https://nordvpn.com/blog/nordvpn-false-allegations/
it was also the same for proton vpn/mail
I personally use Nordvpn for things on the internet I want a little more privacy for. I researched the most popular VPNs before I purchased one and they don't keep logs for anything, for any reason. I got a two year subscription for $72. Not shilling, no referral codes to give you, that's just my recommendation.
The above commenter is not quite getting what it is they are trying to argue. They are comparing the US law concerning secret FISA warrants with what China does. The US law says that if a company is given a secret warrant that requests data the company must comply and may not reveal that they were given such a warrant. China's law is much broader, less transparent and coercive for many reasons.
On the US side this sort of warrant requires a number of checks and balances be passed before it can be issued. The agency requesting it must prove to a FISA court that the need for such data is sufficient to warrant just a serious request. Judges can and do refuse these all the time and without any fear of consequence (something that would not happen in China). Example, in 2017 1,372 requests were made and 948 of them were approved. Note that this data is publicly available to an extent (something China would not do) Some US companies have also developed the concept of a "warrant canary" (here is an example of one, scroll to the bottom) which is a public statement that says the company has not had any warrants issued to it. They will remove this statement if they have received such a warrant (legality of this is still under debate).
in a nutshell, the US can require a company to reveal information about users if a set of checks and balances are met to the satisfaction of the courts. Such requests have to meet a number of criteria and also offer some transparency in the process. In general, the US is a country that follows the rule of law relatively closely. China offers none of this (and is most definitely not a country that follows any real rule of law... the CCP can and will do whatever it likes and laws, while they exist, will be subverted for political needs all the way down to the lowest levels of government).
For those outside of the USA who want to stream the episode online, the simplest and most legitimate option is get yourself a VPN (Virtual Private Network).
Personally, I use Nord VPN but there are a ton of alternatives. Just google VPN and pick one that has the price point you are okay with. Most are around $10 for a month.
Install the VPN, and select a USA server.
From there, you can view the episodes directly on the Oxygen website.
Part 1 has already been made available to stream on their site.
Part 2 is airing tonight, so it will likely be made available tomorrow.
There were also comments that the first episode has been posted to their YouTube page, but I wasn't able to find it. It will also likely be locked to USA, but you can use the same process here.
Hope this helps!
Mods -- hoping this is okay?
You could use a VPN like https://nordvpn.com It would protect your data like it would on any public WiFi (cafes, etc). Use the internet kill switch option to insure nothing is getting through unless it's through the VPN.
But... My guess is that it's just your neighbor changing his wifi name to something "catchy" like FBI-SpyVan
There are several ways to hack so if they were really targeting people randomly connecting to collect personal data on them from their home... I'd call them idiots.
All of Nord servers meets their policies, doesn’t matter where the server resides in, as Nord is incorporated in Panama, all of their servers follows the same no-logging policies. They’ve already proved it twice (https://nordvpn.com/blog/nordvpn-audit/ ).
"Is it illegal to use a VPN in China? The answer to that question is a resounding “maybe.”"
"But what about visitors who bring their VPNs in with them? This is a legal gray area, but right now, it looks like you have nothing to worry about. After all, using a VPN isn’t actually illegal in China."
speaking of which, if you dont wanna end up like notre dame being viewed in public and having no privacy, there is NORDvpn. Nordvpn will keep you secure from unwanted onlookers and government agencies. You can connect to 60 different countries and hide your IP from hackers or even watch geolocked netflix movies. You can use the code "ASS" on nordvpn.com/ass to get 50% off until 4/22.
Are you looking to make your pi a VPN server (fairly common) or connect it to your existing VPN?
If the former, I recommend PiVPN
If the latter, RTFM: https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/linux/openvpn/

>the biggest scandal of nordvpn I've ever heard of is they had one of their thousands of servers compromised for a few weeks, and didn't disclose that to the public until months later when they were forced to.
They are totally deceptive about their service in many ways. They claim to be "the best VPN for P2P" - link - but they don't actually allow incoming connections which means all Nord users are leachers that take from P2P networks but share nothing back. If a majority of P2P user were on Nord, the whole system would fail to work as intended. They are the exact opposite of what P2P networks need.
From this page at Nord:
>Does port forwarding work with a VPN?
>Port forwarding and triggering could work with a VPN protocol in general, but not with NordVPN. Our apps block almost all port communication from within your device except for the ones most commonly used by popular applications.
Pretty sure he has others he has never talked to us about.
I too recommend using qBittorrent over utorrent. uTorrent has become untrustworthy recently so it would be best if you remove it and switched. I highly recommend qBitorrent but an alternative torrent client is Deluge which people also say is good.
As for getting better speeds through NordVPN, the server you connect to will greatly affect your download speed. You will need to go through trial and error by testing many different servers. Keep in mind as well that the download speed can slowly increase over time as you connect to more peers. So it may be slow at first but within 5 minutes it can catch up close to your max download speed. Always connect to the VPN before you start downloading. I would recommend setting up the Killswitch/firewall in case the VPN disconnects, especially if you are trying to avoid copyright strikes in the mail from your ISP. Visit https://nordvpn.com/servers/ with the VPN turned off to see recommended servers which might be faster for you, and probably opt for the P2P servers instead. You can also set up qbittorrent to use a socks5 proxy from NordVPN for additional protection.
Yes, just use the Windows/Mac native app's P2P servers and you're good to go, if you want, you can set up a socks5 proxy through the bittorent client on top of the regular VPN (https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/socks5/bittorrent/). However, there's no need for that, your IP will be hiden by using the VPN. Just be sure to use the P2P servers for torrenting
Welcome! You can choose your flag in personal settings. I suggest you use a vpn to protect your privacy. Pay for it with crypto currency. There are several to choose from. This one is good, but PIA is also popular.
Well just to level-set, branded video sponsorships and social media advertising directly through influencers is an opaque industry, where wrapping your head around the scale and inner workings isn't easy.
But just to look directly at your question about the predominance of certain advertisers on YouTube, this is the result of affiliate marketing. Nordvpn, skillshare, and others have off-the-shelf affiliate marketing programs that anyone can apply to.
https://www.skillshare.com/affiliates
https://nordvpn.com/affiliate/
YouTubers can apply and share the details of the channel. Of they're approved, they'll get a unique coded link that can be used to trace how much click traffic, PR kits with brand logos and approved scripts, content rules ("no other sponsors!", "No swearing!"), and share in the revenue of any purchases that are made.
If a channel is big enough, a person in the digital marketing team of the company (or their agency) might reach out to the account owner to more closely manage the relationship, which could include moving beyond the affiliate program to other advertising methods.
This is why they're able to scale so widely. If it were just the company sending emails/YouTube messages directly to thousands of content creators asking them to partner, and then signing ad hoc contracts and negotiating ad rates every time, it wouldn't be sustainable or even profitable for them.
That said, larger brands that aren't based on affiliate programs (say, consumer packaged goods or Pepsi, or cosmetics), might just do that for the largest channels relevant to their brands. Those channels often include an email link in their description that goes straight to their business team to facilitate when large sponsors come around.
I think you should read their official statement. You'll see that it wasn't anything major at all, not even a single user was affected by it. https://nordvpn.com/blog/official-response-datacenter-breach/
Nord VPN actually has two programs:
Affiliates (https://nordvpn.com/affiliate/), which is your traditional commission based program where the commission rates are public.
And Youtube Creators (https://nordvpn.com/influencers/), where there are no commissions and the amount they pay will be influenced by the youtuber's audience. They will probably pay extra when the youtuber is 'authoritative' on this topic; Their audience believes they actually know what it takes about when it comes to VPNs.
There might still be referral codes, but they are just there to measure performance or potentially give bonuses. But they are ads, the youtuber will get paid a guaranteed amount, even if nobody clicks on the referral link.
They are designed to push Nord VPN into the realm of "everyone is talking about it, so it must be good"
They cannot detect what's on your computer. However, there a few things that you need to make sure you're doing right:
Run the VPN on startup and make it autoconnect to a server. Check ipleak.net whether the Ip has really changed. Only after the VPN has connected, run the torrent client manually.
Enable a kill switch when torrenting (you can only connect to the internet if your VPN is connected)
I personally use NordVPN and have socks5 proxy on my torrent client (https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/socks5/), I suggest setting one up on your torrent client as well
Have you tried reaching out to them via live chat? I never even send emails anymore, if you want a quick response, then write them directly on the site. You can find a little chat icon on the bottom of the page here https://nordvpn.com/contact-us/. This situation happened to you recently? I often use their Indian servers for watching a few TV shows and never noticed that something isn't working. That's actually quite strange. And the speeds for me seem pretty okay, but I'm using obfuscated servers. Tried that?
Step 1. Go to https://nordvpn.com/
Step 2. Sign up for one of their plans (about 30£ a year approx)
Step 3. Install their Chrome plug in
Step 4. Turn on the plug in and set location to, lets say Spain
Step 5. Go to AVTV.
Step 6. Create an account, and put a spanish address in the address field
Step 7. Always log in AVTV with the VPN turned on and located in Spain.
Step 8. If you ever have trouble logging in. Mover away from avtv.com. go to your browser history and delete all history/cookies/cache, and then try logging back in to avtv.
that worked for me last year.
Have you had a look here https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/socks5/bittorrent/ I know it's for BitTorrent instead of qBitTorrent but the idea is to use a proxy rather than a vpn as nord vpn do include proxy as well which you could give a go
please make sure you have a VPN on your phone and/or laptop (I highly recommend taking your laptop with you), so that you can still access your brokerage and bank stuff when abroad.
many people go on holiday and find that they can't access their bank stuff (or other important things) because of the location, or that it signals "fraud" to the systems because suddenly bob from wisconsin is logging in from malaysia.
so - spend some money on a VPN so that you can change your devices location to the US and still access your stuff if you need to. I can't recommend any because I don't use them (I'm never overseas). I know that one travel youtuber I watch uses nordvpn though. he is also sponsored by them of course but he does actually use it.
this isn't a recommendation for them specifically, because I've never used them. just a general recommendation for you to get one so that you can still access your stuff without having your accounts frozen or locked when you need it most.
edit; I just looked it up. from his social media pages -
> Go to https://nordvpn.com/cbmedia or use code cbmedia to get a 2-year plan plus 1 additional month with a huge discount
Get a VPN, for example: https://nordvpn.com
It'll be straightforward to install and use. Plenty of people online who can answer any questions you might have if you get stuck or confused at any point.
I just moved from the US to London. My parents have DirecTV with HBO also. I purchased a VPN from Nord which was I think $12/mo if you buy by the month (it is as low as $3/mo if you buy 2 years up front I think).
This has been my workaround thus far (already watched a few episodes of Entourage on the VPN), but I've read stories about how HBO actively cracks down on VPN usage, so although mine is working at the current, it may not work in a few weeks. I am still trying to figure out how to get access to Fox Sports Go, NBC Sports, ESPN and my other sports channels through the VPN (if anybody has any ideas).
Thanks so much for checking guys.
It turns out it was something to do with OpenDNS. The certificate was from Cisco Umbrella Secondary SubCA... Apparently OpenDNS decided to mark nordvpn.com (and youtube too!) as 'blocked' and therefore decided to intercept TLS? No idea how or why this happened just now.
Same thing happened on another laptop on the same network.
I switched our DNS to Cloudflare and it all works fine.
Yeah, me too, totally worth it, IMO. They had this 75% off the full price deal for Christmas, I think, if someone still wants the discount, try here (just not sure if it's still valid).
If I'm not mistaken, due to new Google Play policies, the Play Store version is no longer allowed to block ads. You have to download and install the APK manually from their site. https://nordvpn.com/download/android/
Edit: Yep, found where they talked about it here: https://nordvpn.com/blog/android-app-update/ Make sure to uninstall the Play Store version and turn off auto-updates and then install the APK.
The more I thought about it, the more I just wasn't going to feel comfortable with Nord. I was still within my 30-day window, and I decided to ask for a refund for now. Maybe I'll go back, but I don't want to be out the money if things don't pan out.
Also not going to lie, Nord is not helping themselves with the fact that their blog post on the subject 404s.
update edit: The blog post is up now. It doesn't really satisfy my concerns, but YMMV.
Enjoy VPNs while you can. edit2: Helpful link, I think coupon code "wisecrack" might still work
https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/dd\-wrt/openvpn\-gui/
Yes, followed the guide...my router does not have the Username and Password fields so followed the instructions to store them in a file.
I can post a screenshot of my config if that would help?
Are you torretning? They allow P2P traffic only in certain servers (Romania, Russia, Sweden, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Canada). If you choose some other and start torrenting they'll automatically redirect you: https://nordvpn.com/blog/service-update-an-automated-p2p-workaround/
People keep complaint about atomic wallet, and for VPN, NordVPn is good link with a good offer
I'm just poking fun, I've yet to catch a sitewide ban, and would absolutely encourage everyone NOT to ban evade and just accept it, but as of 2017 i think Nord VPN did have some kind of IPv6 leak protection, no idea if the reddit admin bots have some other way of detecting evasion though, they probably do, and you should not attempt to ban evade in general.

Yes but nord usually switches you to a p2p server if you are using p2p applications. https://nordvpn.com/blog/service-update-an-automated-p2p-workaround/?_ga=2.257158219.1963978074.1562164679-1042330602.1552889795
> VPN only mask IP addresses and do not offer any encryption.
Uhh..that's false. A VPN certainly does offer a level of encryption.
Here's 2 popular VPNs and both most certainly do offer Encrypted data communications.
https://nordvpn.com/features/ https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/vpn-encryption
Okay, so the two major contenders are Tutanota and Proton. See https://nordvpn.com/blog/tutanota/ The problem, however, is that I interact with most people who are not sophisticated and government personnel where using either service would make a dialog stilted, if not impossible. The fierce security features are not what I need, I just want to get away from marketing. I do not want problems with unsophisticated users trying to communicate with me. I want to be able to use my Thunderbird client. I guess just another email provider with the hope that they are not monitoring my emails. Perhaps an impossible combination?
A VPN helps protect the traffic leaving your computer and coming back to it. You still have no idea who else may be on the same public network that could maliciously connect to your machine and see everything as you do it. A VPN is a good start, but keep a good firewall up, keep software updated and try to only connect to trusted hotspots. Be wary of others impersonating a trusted hotspot name too. There's still a lot more to think of than that...but if you trust where you are connected, at least do what I said above. Here is a good VPN with a good deal for those in the US.
rgr that. Just wanted to help out too.
And I will also take a moment to endorse a VPN service that I have been using for 150 days now and have been very happy with: <em>Nord VPN.</em>
The service has been rock solid, and the yearly subscription price point of $36.00USD was MORE than reasonable.
Are you aware that those accounts are simply matched from other places like Facebook and other sites where people reuse the same creds? https://nordvpn.com/blog/crack/ this has a bit of info about it
You can, they won’t stop you, but they might filter your submission out later. If the point is to make real reports indistinguishable from fakes then more dispersed action may be needed.
I’ll refer you to Nord’s documentation on identification: https://nordvpn.com/blog/can-you-be-tracked-with-a-vpn/
Also: this is why you can’t watch some streaming services on Nord/other VPNs.
I'd go to https://nordvpn.com/servers/tools/ and let their website tell you what your best vpn server is. Click show available protocols and then download the UDP configuration ( ovpn ). Once you have that config file use it to create a new VPN profile on your FWG using their app. You'll need your Nord username, password, and that file. Switch profiles and see if that helps. You can have multiple profiles but can only connect to one at a time.
Hopefully that helps you. I've had good success using this method.
Even though I am not really convinced by your reason, here the way to check:

If the channel is in the program, you will see the offer.
There are many better places to find great channels

If we can trust Nord VPN themselves, the reason you would see an increase is because your provider is throttling your connection.
And I'll be honest, what you are saying sounds a bit silly.
No, wouldn't hurt it.
I would say 6 months is enough to time to finish, so make a new account every time the trial expires. In fact, you get a month free from the getgo.
If you want to watch other US shows, this is a great choice, but a tad pricey.
Russia's government already asked for access to Nord's servers last year and as a result, Nord doesn't have any servers in Russia anymore. The fact Nord refused to provide access makes me believe they are being honest with us. Here's the blog post https://nordvpn.com/blog/nordvpn-servers-roskomnadzor-russia/
You need to use nordvpn by using a Socks5 server.
You install nordvpn the normal way. Test it without using Adguard and make sure everything works.
Then turn off nordvpn and go into your web browser and click on this link. https://nordvpn.com/servers/tools. Enter a country, click on Show Advanced Options. Under select security protocol, select Socks 5. Don't hit Reset. Scroll back to the top of the page and write down the server. It should be something like us4260.nordvpn.com.
Then go into your Adguard, Settings, Network, Proxy, and click on the toggle next to the word Off. Then click on Add proxy server. Enter any proxy name you want. Set proxy type to Socks 5. For proxy host, type in the server you wrote down before. For proxy port, enter 1080. For proxy username and proxy password, enter your nordvpn username and password. Click on SAVE AND SELECT.
You are now running nordvpn and Adguard at the same time. To turn off nordvpn, go back to this page and toggle it off at the top of the page. It will remember the information you entered.
If you have any questions let me know.
That doesn't. Can you do to https://nordvpn.com/servers/tools and find out which server is fasted for you and then manually search and select for that one in the NordVPN application to see if that helps? There shouldn't be such huge of a speed drop...
I have been through the process you are beginning now. Here is a good list of reliable alternatives to Gmail. These services value and have their missiona based on Privacy.
I haven't seen anyone suggest this yet but check laptops, phones, tablets & any other devices that connect to the internet (eg. baby monitors) for malware & viruses. They may have a compromised device & they're being watched via their own web cam. This could well be a random on the internet doing this for shits & giggles. Here's an article from Nord VPN about hacked cameras.
Have them as a precaution change passwords to all online accounts especially emails, banks & social media.
If they have home wifi they should log in to their modem & check all connected devices are only their own. Change the password to the modem too. (Just in case it's a neighbour who's also leeching off their wifi).
With this ever increasing technological world, we need to be more proactive in protecting ourselves online.
Goodluck!
try using obfuscated servers with openvpn on nordvpn, because these servers are made to bypass firewalls, should work. mm, and check if you have disabled all the location settings, because they might be interfering
Tried contacting their support? They should help you. Don't know about other providers, but Nordvpn on Nvidia works easily for me. If sometime you'll decide to change your provider, you can check for directions here.
I used the Merlin firmware on a ac68u and it was good. looked/felt just like the asus firmware with a couple extras/tweaks. the ability for scripting was a nice touch (and needed in my case). either the stock firmware or merlin will do your top three. I can't remember about the bottom two and can't check as I don't have it anymore. i remember there being a vpn server in merlin but i can't remember if it was an openvpn server.

edit:
merlin definitely does do openvpn
I don't have any problems with speed on Nordvpn, so you can try that as well. And have in mind always keeping a kill-switch enabled, that way if vpn connection drops - it will block any internet activity and your IP won't be leaked.
I've been using nordvpn for a while without problems - I mostly use it for netflix which works well and they also have p2p servers if you want to torrent. The speeds are alright too, easy setup on linux (https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/linux/openvpn/)
You're mistaken, Nordvpn offers a free trial, just google it or ask their support about it. And if you want to secure your torrent traffic only, you can try using Socks5, that's what their customer support suggested doing a while ago. Maybe this will help https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/socks5/utorrent/
Look up the IKEv2 way on their site. I don't even use the app anymore because the IKEv2 way does everything I need. And the Nord servers are awesome. Their app just sucks haha.
EDIT: I pay for 100mbps internet which SHOULD give me about 12.5MBps real world download (I usually get 15MBps on Steam though for some AWESOME reason I don't understand). However, when connected via the IKEv2 method instead of the app, I'm pulling 12MBps per torrent usually, unless it has really low seeders which is perfect and about what it should be. The app was only giving me about 3-6MBps for whatever reason, but when I emailed Nord about it, they suggested I try the IKEv2 method.
EDIT II: I should note, I'm not really hugely knowledgeable about computers, but I was able to follow their steps in the link I provided pretty easily.
Have you tried the tutorial on Norn VPN's webpage? I followed the parts i needed and it worked perfectly. I used the Network Manager section, down the page a bit. I didn't have to do the install Network Manager part, so I skipped to step 5. Download the OpenVPN Configuration File Package, and goto https://nordvpn.com/servers/ click on the "Recommended Server" button, then click the "Show Available Protocols" link and it will help you with which server to select. Use that Config file from the .zip to setup the VPN.
If you do not want to download all of the config files in the .zip, just goto https://nordvpn.com/servers/ and click on the "Recommended Server" button, then click the "Show Available Protocols" link. There you can download only the one config file you need.
I am on Gnome Solus, but that shouldn't matter.
You will have to setup multiple VPN's if there are different VPN servers you wish to connect to. But NornVPN works fantastic with Linux. Good upload and download speeds, even at peak times.
I'm a current subscriber, and my primary computer is a dual booted Macbook pro running macOS High Sierra and Windows 10.
My experience is that Nord works okay on macOS using Nord's app (the one you download from Nord's website). Your download speed will take a hit, but it's serviceable, especially if you choose a server close to you with a low load percentage. I was able to torrent ~50 gb files in less than a day.
On the other hand, I can't seem to get Nord's app to work on Windows 10 at all. It will connect, but the app has a built-in speed monitor, and the connection goes up to a few hundred kb/s and then immediately drops to 0, then repeats this over and over again. The end result is that you can't use the internet when connected to the VPN, making it worthless.
However, there is a work around that requires you to download the OpenVPN application and Nord's configuration files, and then connect to Nord using the OpenVPN app rather than Nord's. I've had way more success connecting that way on Windows 10. Follow the instructions here: https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/windows-7/openvpn/
That said I don't know of any stories where they've been subpoenaed like PIA has and proven it, but I still feel comfortable using them.
Obfuscates your geographical location if you are lazy and want to access Tor at home (which I wouldn't recommend to anyone that doesn't work in IT security).
Ditch VPN. Just access Tor through Tails, and NOT at home or around cameras & shit, should be easy enough to understand. Be a ghost. SOCKS5 is the proxy method you are required to use to access the Tor network. You can configure SOCKS5 proxies in any browser, Tor is just the one people use because it prioritizes anonymity.
> Are there any good free VPNs?
That's an oxymoron. If you are not paying for something you are the product being sold.
You can get good VPNs at a reasonable cost.
I personally use nordvpn I pay by the year and it ends up being >$6.00 a month. They're running a promo right now $79 for 2 years or about $3.30 per month.
They fall under Panama jurisdiction and they have a strict "No logs" policy. Even if Panama subpoenaed the logs, they don't exist. Any request for them is pointless.
Aussie here. I just signed up to Nord VPN. I haven't tested it properly but I'll provide some updates soon.
Edit: Happy with speeds so far but I keep getting disconnected every couple of minutes. I sent support an email to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'll report back with my findings.
Edit 2: I can't say I'm pleased with speed so far
Edit 3: Nord VPN support got in touch and recommended a new VPN client for my Mac called Viscosity, which I installed and already noticed an improvement. They also advised the correct ports I needed to open on my router and now I'm seeing a stable connection. Also, speeds have improved considerably to 1.7Mbps from the 215Kbps I saw before.
Honestly with the risk of getting dragged into a court battle you either better quit making gifs, or shell out some money for a VPN. Don't use TOR for uploading because it is slow as fuck.
For 36 dollars a year you're protected, I just looked up some VPN's and this one sounds ok: https://nordvpn.com/pricing/?ref=ikJNEL6
Compare that 36 dollars to a court battle or even jail time.. They're being real cunts towards pirates nowadays. Get the VPN, or quit.
If you use an email, use an untraceable one, NOT Gmail!!!

I like Proton, personally. Also, a vpn is great because you can put it on your phone, your computer...
Nope--I had this same problem and the only solution (which had just come out at the time I encountered it) was to split tunnel. You can do an allow list or disallow list. https://nordvpn.com/features/split-tunneling/
Ultimately I "Enabled for" and added all the programs I wanted to be behind the VPN.
You can find all available server configuration at this link
If you know which server you would like connect to then download the ovpn file to set up open vpn client on Gl Inet router. Hope this helps.
That being said, configuring your router( cheap, expensive, 50 years old, don't matter) to have it's NAT type to be "OPEN" will improve almost every multiplayer experience.
This is not the current version of Nord... it's actually quite out of date. IDK why, but the auto-update check in Nord sucks - it's really inconsistent. Split Tunneling debuted with Nord 6.33.x...
https://nordvpn.com/blog/nordvpn-windows-release-notes/
This is why it's better to say what version you are using instead of just saying it's the latest.... You should have it as soon as you update, you may have to update manually (just login to the website and download the current version installer and run it on top of the existing install).
trying to connect to a specific country is very slow and unstable, but when trying to connect to a specific server takes usually just 1 - 2 seconds.
try to find a good server on this website: https://nordvpn.com/servers/tools/
and then for example nordvpn connect fr666
directly, this was suggested by another redditor and it has been a huge help for me
Hard to find one single document - and you can obviously find arguments for each side.
I found this nordvpn article discussing pretty good from a privacy perspective
I trust it because typically they are a company that caters to both operating systems (and have no real reason to trash one or the other)
You kinda just have to do a deep dive on an issue you want, and just read a couple of articles on each one.
YouTube reviewers also can be pretty decent at distilling some of these points down into Normal human understandable language. (That articles can sometimes miss)
In short, it's a VPN protocol and VPN protocols are basically rules and processes of how the VPN tunnel is formed. Wireguard (Nordlynx) is considered to be the fastest available yet. You can find more info about protocols here: https://nordvpn.com/blog/protocols/.
It is available on every platform, as for Windows - go to Settings menu (the cog icon on the top-right corner) > Auto-connect > disable the "Choose a VPN protocol and server automatically" option > under VPN protocol choose NordLynx (it should be selected as default though).
https://nordvpn.com/blog/youtube-alternatives/
There are many different social media platforms and many different video hosting services. Trying to pretend like YouTube had a monopoly is just ridiculous.
They shut down their HTTP/HTTPS proxy services, but good news that their SOCKS5 network is still available.
You might have to install additional module ( pip install pysocks)
The socks servers can be found on this page
import requests proxies = {"https": "socks5://LOGIN:"} r = requests.get("https://api.myip.com", proxies=proxies) print(r.json())
https://us.norton.com/internetsecurity-mobile-android-vs-ios-which-is-more-secure.html
Norton agrees.
https://nordvpn.com/blog/ios-vs-android-security/
Nord agrees.
Most lawyers who work with sensitive data will not use Android - it is not as secure as IOS. Apple controls the device and the OS; it is not as versatile but it is more secure. Which is why the California DOJ issues iPhones - as does the AG - for all privileged data users. You cannot use a personal device unless it is an iPhone to access client data for either agency.
Google sells data - Apple sells hardware and software to protect data and privacy. Different business models. Control during hardware design, manufacture and IOS design and updates makes Apple more secure.
it sounds like you have Virgin websafe turned on. You have two options.
1) Change your DNS as advised above.
2) Disable websafe - https://www.virginmedia.com/help/how-to-use-websafe
The reason you're getting SSL errors is because Virgin are intercepting your DNS (probably due to websafe) and returning a different IP address for nordvpn.com. They're presenting their SSL cert, which of course doesn't match, so you get the error.
Tesekkurler! https://nordvpn.com/servers/turkey/ Umarim hiz Netflix icin yetecektir. $3.71 aylik fena degil, deneyebiliriz. Bunlarda istedigimiz zaman baglandigimiz server'i degistirebiliyoruz, degil mi?
https://nordvpn.com/blog/what-can-someone-do-with-your-ip-address/
They can't really do much, or at least one person can't. Besides find you in real life, your ip adress is pretty useless in the hands of a criminal. They can't even DDoS you if it's only one person, those kinds of attacks take hundreds of seperate devices. Plus if it is on omegle, they are probably just doing it for show. They would have no pre-medidtated plans to break into your house or something.
It really depends. Your internet provider is able to see your browsing data, so a VPN would protect you from that. But in case you trust your provider, you can use it on unsecured networks only. There is also a useful blog post on Nord's website regarding this: https://nordvpn.com/blog/should-i-leave-vpn-on-all-the-time/
Not available in my country either, but VPNs are getting good and relatively inexpensive.
according to nordvpn themselves there's 29 socks servers at the moment. out of over 5000 servers in total. like i said, "most" are down, because there used to be more.
which server are you using?
edit: also... might help to post error message too.
