You can tell it is Futurama because of the color palette. Futurama tends to use desaturated earth tones to depict a bleak future while throwing in a splash of color for characters. Simpsons tends to be mostly warm tones and primary colors. They limit the use of off tone shades.
I'm not an expert; but for me this 2 color text+background doesn't work with the picture. Try converting the picture to monochrome; or adjust the pictures color palette the the colors you use on the text (or the other way around).
or try uploading the raw cross buns picture to http://www.colorhunter.com and work with the colors you get for your text and background.
Fun idea! As a fellow Scooby-Doo aficionado I give this a thumbs up.
Each of the Scooby Gang members has a representative color you could use:

Or, if you want to recreate the aesthetic of the Mystery Machine:

Another idea could be to create a collage of different “monster” images from the original series.
I was thinking of having the colour scheme match the Melbourne one, but everything is only in an early thought process. This is the SOH so far...
I'll definitely use a grid for the Sydney poster, with the Melbourne one I wanted to attempt more of a free layout.
Hey there, I think you've got the startings of a good piece here. Here is a few critiques/suggestions I would like to add:
The thin lines of the type make the name look broken apart and causes to much distraction. I would either use a thicker script type, or even use san serif type for 'Gateau Jardin' and smaller pt size script for 'Cake Garden'
I would lose the upper right leaf from the design. If the client wants to have business cards or promotional stationary printed in the future then fitting this into an overall rectangle template will be a nuisance.
Drop the underline from the title or use a line between the overhang of the letter 'G' and 'J' and so on. so essentially have the title over the underline.
Maybe use a stronger colour palette as I feel the logo itself is sort of 'drowned' out, maybe something from http://www.colorhunter.com/tag/bakery/3 might help or pinterest is a great source of inspiration for logos.
This is just a basic critique, hopefully you have a play about with the suggestions and something works for you.
EDIT. I have just realised it's a personal project so point 2 doesn't apply as much (but should still be taken into consideration!)
Wow, talk about yellow. You were right. I like the colours that you picked. I would be inclined to do the white especially in the hallway that looked great and for the kitchen as well. This might help as they have your range of colours there already. Remember you can change the tome of the room by what colour rugs you put on the floor. I would be using them especially to tone down some of the floors particularly in where the pool table is with the quarry tiles. The house is beautiful and I hope you enjoy living their. After the paint job of course. I'd live an update to see what you chose and to see the house in a much better light. :)
pro tip: check out colour plattes online for really nice colour combinations http://www.colorhunter.com/tag/forestgreen/1
I think this one looks quite nice: http://www.colorhunter.com/palette/160229
Add some light blues and greens in the room :)
