Just click and drag all the assets to the desired folder and if you are using windows just use http://stefanstools.sourceforge.net/grepWin.html to replace the references in the files. I believe sed will do the trick on linux?

I like drawing on a piece of paper first. That helps a lot. Then I start copying and pasting from my existing 25+ plugins :D Yesterday, the brilliant idea came to mind to keep little snippets in text files e.g. adding a top menu or just a link under settings. ... maybe I should even start putting them on github

I also use use grepWin to find/replace text/prefixes in files. It was created by the same person who created TortoiseSVN tool.

You can also use find and grep within any sort of Unix/Linux emulation tool for Windows, but this is not a small undertaking. Personally I use Cygwin, which does way more than what you're asking for, but it does do what you want very well.
