Good stuff.
One thing I'd add is to think about where you're sending people after they read your email.
blog post
video
landing page with a free ebook
webinar registration
sales letter
video sales letter
Treat the landing page as the movie, and your email as the preview trailer. The email isn't a standalone, it's a bridge to the next step in your sales funnel. How do you get people excited, eager, interested and receptive to learning more?
Write about that, get them into that emotional state and send clicks to your page.
For example, if I were sending people to your blog post about email: > > Hey, > > I was thinking about email marketing the other day. For the longest time, I struggled to get people to open and click my emails. > > Everything you're supposed to do, I did. I wrote great content, gave away value as much as possible, etc. > > But I got no results. Got to the point where I avoided looking at my email stats, because I couldn't bear to see the 3 percent open rate and 1 percent click-through rate. Hurts to look back on those dark days. > > After years of trying and experimenting, I finally got good at it. > > Just recently I read a guide on email marketing by jwatsins. It made my heart sink. > > Not because the content was bad. The exact opposite. The content was amazing. Everything that took me years of struggle and sweat to figure out, it's all there. > > I wish I could travel back in time to give it to myself. Since I can't do that, I'm sharing it with you. You don't need to enter your email to get it. > > Read it here: > > http://helprace.com/blog/how-to-email-the-right-way-after-analyzing-5000-emails > >Cheers, > > gotthelowdown > > P.S. Pay special attention to the section on storytelling. It's a powerful way to connect to your readers.
Helprace (http://helprace.com) is a customer service software i'm working on. It's ideal for small businesses because it's free for 3 team members: There are 3 components, which are also accessible on the free plan. (As you can tell we like the number 3:))
help desk ticketing system
feedback community + feedback tab
knowledge base
We make Helprace http://helprace.com - help desk & customer service software for small businesses. 30 day free trial and we also give discounts for non-profits. Around since 2013.
What separates us from similarly priced tools:
Plans start as low as $10 a month :)
Helprace (http://helprace.com), a customer service software for small businesses. 30 day free trial and we also give discounts for non-profits. Kind of like Zendesk, but more user-focused.
Helprace is a customer service software, similar to Zendesk. Youtube video about us: http://youtu.be/tmoaLqT4yf8
If you're a small business, you can take advantage of our low cost plans - pricing page
Help desk system:
ticketing for multiple staff members: tags, private notes or see who's working on any ticket.
multiple mailboxes, email templates & notifications, custom rules, etc.
Customer-facing support portal:
questions, ideas, problem, praise
knowledge base
customer community
feedback tab for your site
CSS, SSO and API customization
Companies that use Facebook as a promotional tool pay for sponsored posts. These are usually a type of blog post that talks about their company or a feature release from their own site/blog.
What facebook should be used is for customer support. First of all there are many tools that can turn your user generated posts/messages to your page into tickets. Even if you DONT have a tool like that, you can simply refer that user to a page/topic/discussion on your site, using support software.
In other words, you should look at your Facebook page as another customer service channel, in addition to email, your site faq (knowledge base), etc. Companies that understand this come out on top in customer service.
Helprace is a complete customer support solution for virtually any company out there. The help desk, knowledge management and customer feedback applications are offered on a stand-alone basis or within one integrated system. Helprace is designed to be used across a wide range of vertical industries including technology, government, media, and retail, and is scalable for businesses of all sizes. 100% free for up to 3 employees.
I don't know if there is a market - it doesn't hurt to start thinking about integrations. Sometimes it uncovers your market.
It's true that a company will not hire chat agents to look at a chat window all day as mentioned earlier, but they will definitely pass this responsibility to their existing help desk agents. That agent may be using a variety of software, so your best bet is to integrate with them.
I am not a huge fan of your tab, however. I would rather have a text field appear right away to start typing my concern, not select "video, voice or chat". I've been working at Helprace, (http://helprace.com) and we have a similar feedback tab, but it's designed around the idea that people will always want to search first, and ask questions later.
This is our approach, but of course your customers may actually look for what you're offering. I would reach out to your existing users and ask them for their feedback - they are usually the ones who can help you most...
We've bootstrapped our business from selling our previous software. Our newly developed customer service software, http://helprace.com is fully functional but still in the red. Saying "Hi I work for a startup" won't open up people's wallets. Maybe in SF it does but not around here, unfortunately.
Like I said thankfully we developed a different product 5 years ago has been selling. Not well, mind you - it allowed us to break even with renting the office, computers and then some.
We'd definitely be eating noodles soon if things don't improve in the future! Who knows, maybe we'll be eating worse things :)
Helprace (http://helprace.com), a customer service software for small businesses. 30 day free trial and we also give discounts for non-profits.
What separates us from similarly priced competition is that we have:
Why is it excellent for small businesses? Plans start as low as $10 a month and the most expensive one is $30 a month.
Helprace (http://helprace.com), a customer service software for small businesses. 30 day free trial and we also give discounts for non-profits. Kind of like Zendesk, but more user-focused.
We develop Helprace http://helprace.com - it's excellent for startups because plans start at $9 a month.
In fact, our primary customer base is startups. That's because we've created lots of features that are very important to startups, out of the box. They include:
Ticketing system platform for email management (a shared inbox). This is a no-brainer as using an email client can get unproductive and inefficient really quickly.
Customer community platform, if you want to build a community around your brand or develop some "hype" and start building engagement directly on your site.
Feedback portal, if you want to collect suggested ideas or issues and organize them with statuses. Startups can't afford not to listen to suggestions made by their customers.
Public docs, if you have documentation you'd like to share with your audience. Also an internal knowledge base for staff-only documentation.
Reporting for your emails, etc.
Helprace (http://helprace.com)
We make super simple help desk , feedback and knowledge base software. Kind of like Zendesk, but more user-focused.

We are Helprace, a customer service software (kind of like Zendesk).
We also offer branded communities & knowledge base tightly integrated with the ticketing system. We've also got a cleaner interface & we're much cheaper!
Been developing this for 7 years and lots of new features on the way, including segmented teams and event management for the user portal.

Hi guys!
We make help desk / support / email software for small businesses called Helprace.
You can disable components you don't need and customize everything to your liking.
Check us out at http://helprace.com!
We make a help desk software called Helprace. We recently came out with a huge update that adds reports, new workflow and user management components. We also redid our pricing.
We had tons of users on our old plans - so we did the sensible thing. We grandfathered all our plans (including the free plan, as our free plan is different now). So now, if you want a full-feature ticketing plan, it's $9/month.
Not to defend Groove, but..
What Groove is doing is very simple. They're pivoting. They are focusing on the money-maker. They are removing dead weight from their business model. This is something that happens pretty often with SaaS businesses - but the good news is, it offers opportunity for other players to enter the field.
Having said that, I disagree with Groove on two fronts:
1. Lies stick out. Making excuses for being dishonest is even worse. In fact, it happens so often in the business world it's almost expected. (I even wrote a blog post about it) But this ultimately separates businesses in two categories, and bad PR isn't always easy to shake off.
2. Making it difficult to cancel (making them jump through hoops) is bad business practice. We have a "delete account" link in red in the settings. Almost everyone deletes without feedback. Now, this is where you try to make things easy for them. Have radio buttons like "went with a different solution" and a textbox - so now they might share who they went with.
Hey there!
Helprace (helprace.com) is a customer service software: a ticketing help desk system, knowledge base and community all in one.
Great if you need: email support, feedback gathering, reviews gathering, bug reports, self-service portal.
Great for small businesses that look for an all-in-one solution for customer service needs. We also have a free plan for those on a budget.
Special offers: Save 10% when paying annually. Let us know your application and we'll see if there's a discount that we can offer you!
Help desk ticketing, community and self-service portal
We are Helprace - a help desk ticketing and customer service software. It's suitable for virtually any company out there looking to manage email support.
You can also build a knowledge base, collect ideas & manage bug reports in multiple portals.
Learn more at helprace.com or take a look at our short introductory youtube video to see how it works.
We're developing Helprace (helprace.com), a customer service software.
Our help desk, self-service and feedback portal is made as simple as possible from the ground up and is designed for small businesses.
We'd love you give us a try and leave your feedback. We're working on a massive overhaul of our interface. You can see the customer-facing portal in action here: support.helprace.com
Helprace.com is a customer service software, similar to Zendesk. Youtube video about us: http://youtu.be/tmoaLqT4yf8

Ticketing for multiple staff members. Set tags, private notes or see who's working on any ticket.
Multiple mailboxes, email templates & notifications, custom rules, filters, including triggers and macros.
We use one software developed for customer success strategies. We use Helprace, and here's why:
Help Desk. The helpdesk interface has a solid set of features, with case management as well as multi-agent collaboration tools.
Feedback Forums. It allows us to understand users and build a better product. Users can submit questions, ideas, problems and give praise.
Knowledge Base. We get to reduce your support load & cut back on tickets. When users search our portal, knowledge base articles are aggregated to the top.
As a result, customers see that we care and this results in heightened trust and ultimately more awareness in our target market.
We're a customer service software called Helprace consisting of:
help desk ticketing system (kind of like Zendesk)
knowledge base self-service system
5- category feedback system, customer community
feedback widget placed anywhere on your site
We've been developing this app since 2013 and constantly come out with new and exciting updates. Today we came out with Single Sign On, Authentication updates and rolled out a total of 17 supported languages!
We're geared to startups and small businesses. Aside from plans that allow you to pay for what you use, we also have a FREE PLAN for those on a budget.
Helprace cloud-based customer service software!
More specifically, we cater to small businesses that care about customer feedback. Helprace is a feedback system, community, a knowledge base and a help desk all centered in one admin panel. You can enable or disable these components:
Help Desk: solve every customer issue using a simple ticketing system.
Community & Tab to prioritize ideas, questions and praise (and act on them),
Knowledge Base provides instant answers using advanced search for self-service
Pricing starts at free for 3 agents with limited features to $18/month/agent (annually for the top-of-the-line plan)
Helprace.com is a customer service software i'm working on. It's ideal for small businesses because it's free for 3 team members: There are 3 components, which are also accessible on the free plan. (As you can tell we like the number 3:))
help desk
feedback community
knowledge base
All tied together by a feedback tab. Of course you can enable/disable these components.
Helprace customer service software: It's built around the fact that customers should get support on their own terms:
Help Desk: solve every customer issue using a simple ticketing system.
Community & Tab to prioritize ideas, questions and praise (and act on them),
Knowledge Base provides instant answers using advanced search for self-service
Free for 3 team members
We are Helprace (http://helprace.com), a customer service software
It's a ticket system, knowledge base and customer feedback & community portal. The portal (front-end) can be seen at http://support.helprace.com
It's also pretty customizeable if you decide to play around with it. There's also a free plan.
What do you think of http://helprace.com - a customer service software? It has a wide market, ie: could be used by any business out there that needs to respond to emails, collect customer feedback and engage with users on their website.
I am concerned that our website may not carry that across very well.
I am running Helprace (http://helprace.com). It's a helpdesk, knowledge base and customer feedback & community portal. The portal (front-end) can be seen at http://support.helprace.com
It's also pretty customizeable if you decide to play around with it. There's also a free plan. If for some reason free doesn't cut it, let me know what discount you have in mind :)
It helps that we're a customer service software - virtually any company out there could use our services.
In other words, yes, we're still around - you can see in our company page that we've been around since 2013, but because we're a SaaS, even a tiny monthly subscription can keep us afloat, ramen profitability at its finest :)
We made a mistake of not actually having a "beta" and launched a production version of our app immediately, so our pleads to get featured on betalist fell on deaf ears.
However, we did end up getting posted on Producthunt with a similar level of success to you (note we got posted not featured, as we didn't get posted to the main page/listed in search results). It was still refreshing to see because those few hundred visits are the most we've ever seen.
I've been trying to get our site posted (http://helprace.com) for over half a year with no luck. I ended up getting some of their traffic the "backdoor way" by using a Twitter-managing-app called "tweepi" to follow followers of ProductHunt. They got about 50,000 so it's a large big number. I think it's a great way to get some of their traffic if they don't decide to add you. I find that PH is turning into a twitter-based version of TechCrunch and understandably, every startup wants to be on it. The flipside is, startups can make use of ProductHunt without necessarily being listed there.
Helprace is the easiest way for businesses to communicate with their customers! The Helprace product suite combines a feedback community, ticketing helpdesk and knowledge management.
We even got a free plan (if you've got 3 agents).
We have a customer service software (help desk, self-service portal and community) called (http://helprace.com) - If you don't want to sign up you can use just the community at (http://company.helprace.com)
Helpscout is pretty basic. You'd be better off to read up on Gmail features and use that. When your team (not to mention customer base) grows you'll be up shit creek.. Freshdesk, Zendesk and other enterprise level software can gouge you into paying more as you said.
Please check out Helprace - (http://helprace.com). Sure, our site isn't flashy as we're a bootstrapped startup ourselves & we want our software to do the talking :) We just launched our help desk, community and self-service portal. It's fully free at the moment as we are looking for feedback. Email us at if you need any help!

First try to utilize your email communication as a first line of defence. It's a great place to start for those just trying to establish rapport with their customers. You want to ask open-ended questions to fish for customer feedback. You can do it in three ways:
example:
> My name is x and I've just noticed you signed up for our app! What are your first impressions? Any questions or concerns about using x? If you'd like, I can give you a guided tour over the phone. Just reply to this email and I'll get back to you right away.
Putting in the right signature or canned response - a "by the way" as your conversation comes to a close - can help you fish for additional feedback. The customer may have something on their mind - such as a feature request, complaint or a problem of they're own they're struggling with. Smart support reps are able to see how this relates to their product.
It's important to keep these channels open because you can quickly pick up complaints. For example, during a small outage or we experienced our social media accounts - not email - got hammered with requests. This means that for some customers, social media is just more accessible and convenient. It wouldn't be wise to ignore these channels.
This is relatively safe because if you ask the right questions, customers will want to talk to you and engage. Of course, not all (you should expect some emails to be left unanswered), but in general, it's a good and non-intrusive strategy. If users are interested enough to share their experience, you can follow up with a video conference of a phone call.
Ps, we make a customer service app called http://helprace.com
I’d like to suggest http://helprace.com, http://helpscout.net or http://freshdesk.com - they all have generous free plans.
With Helprace, you get a help desk + feedback tab and knowledge base in one package. You can also build a community. All on a free plan.

I believe that your feedback platform should give the feedback giver a lot of flexibility in what sort of feedback to give you and how to give it. It should be a platform where someone can ask an open-ended question and other users can participate and vote on it if they think it's a good idea.
As someone mentioned it's important to offer some sort of prize or incentive for feedback. Then again if someone is a regular user of your platform, there's no reason why they wouldn't actively participate in a feedback pool..
PS, I've developed a system for collecting feedback called http://helprace.com, which is a feedback and help desk tool. If you know what Zendesk and UserVoice does, this may be for you, except we focused heavily on integrating the help desk with the feedback system.
