> If I would have an alternative to Talk I would maybe switch
Did you try out jitsi-meet yet?
I wasnt happy with nextcloud talk, so I spun that up and have been pretty happy with it since.
https://jitsi.org/jitsi-meet/
How is it different from jitsi? Is it still p2p for more than 2 room participants? Does it even support more than 2 people per room (sorry, it‘s late here so i cant try it out with anyone and could not find a definite answer on your website)? I think I remember a jitsi post explaining that right now, end-to-end encrypted p2p using webrtc is not possible for some reason?
Corporate FUD is despicable... but punishing FUD is a reason to use Free Software alternatives such as Jitsi Meet, not some other corporate proprietary crap like Zoom.
If there's a disinformation campaign, it isn't against zoom, but is instead related to the inexplicable hostility some people in this thread seem to have towards Free Software alternatives such as Jitsi Meet.
That's ironic considering Microsoft ships windows 10 with a keylogger running at all times by default.
As much as I love the support of the open source community, I think more of the public should be made aware of its importance.
Jitsi (in particular Jitsi meet) is one possible alternative that offers end-to-end encryption. That means even if they wanted to violate your privacy they couldn't. And if someone changed the code so that they could, someone else could come along and report it and/or change it back.
Privacy and security issues brought about by the closed source community irk me to no end.
jitsi is an awesome (and free and open source) virtual meeting room option
I used it for an international workshop I taught last year, and I would highly recommend it. You can make a unique meeting URL and send it out to your regulars.
You could try: Nextcloud Talk https://nextcloud.com/Talk/ - can be installed on any nextcloud instance, and since it's federated and open source, you should be able to use it in a restricted country
Jitsi meet https://jitsi.org/jitsi-meet/ - also federated so should have no country restriction. This one doesn't require an account when using it as a part of an instance (like https://framatalk.org), just link sharing.
