Juice Defender is the first thing to come to mind. I haven't used it in a while, but always had the Ultimate version so I'm not sure how much you can customize with the free, but give it a shot and see.
Juice Defender is a great Android app that disables your internet whenever your phone is locked. It only turns it back on to check your e-mail once every fifteen minutes or so.
This a good question, but seeing that there arnt any other comments here, I guess I'll give it a shot.
Phone Idle is probably the phone signal. If you live/work in a location with bad service, your phone tries harder to get/find a signal. I put Airplane mode on, but you probably dont want to do this. Try the app Juice Defender. It really works!
Android OS Dunno. I cant even guess.
Screen Thats normal. If it would really help, turn it low when your indoors, or maybe even automatic brightness.
Cell Sandby Maybe this is the same as phone idle?
Maps I have this too, maybe its your GPS or something like that.
Chrome Do you use it alot? If not, try using other Browsers like Dolphin Browser, which is pretty reliable and has nice features, or Boat Browser, it somewhat uses the gray ( or grey) and blue holo theme.
I honestly dont know, i have these problems too.
Another thing you might not have considered, given how your iPhone has trained you, are battery extending apps that actually work, like JuiceDefender and maybe some on-phone automation with Llama. These apps have competitors that probably work just as well, but these are the two I use. Mostly I use Llama to automatically turn off Wifi, in case I forget (and for silencing my phone at work), and with JuiceDefender I'll get between 1.19x and 1.6x battery life, depending on how much I use my phone.
Most of the apps that optimize your battery life do that automatically. I recommend you try something like Juice defender: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.latedroid.juicedefender&hl=en
Good luck!!
Your image isn't loading, but you could try turning off 3G (under mobile network settings check the "use only 2g networks").
I'm not 100% sure if that will help since you already have mobile data turned off but I'm fairly sure your phone will still be trying to grab 3G reception, which can really kill battery if you are in a low signal area.
For periodic checks, try Juice defender or any of the related apps like Green power
Have you heard of juice defender?
Some people call it crapware, others call it a godsend - maybe you can give it a go yourself. I don't use it myself because I carry round a pocket full of spare charged batteries for my Sensation.
I'm getting pretty much the same benchmarks as MrWax running the newest nightly at 1.5ghz using the interactive governor. I use SetCPU to turn up the minimum frequency up to 432ghz and use some custom CPU profiles. You can read about how the governors here. You might benefit from the performance governor but it does shorten battery life or you could just bump the minimum frequency up even higher.
I also use JuiceDefender to extend the battery life a bit, it turns wifi off when the screen is off. I just use the free version so I don't know what else it does but I know I have to charge less frequently.
I also have the same problem as you do with ezPDF but it happens on both of my tablets, so I think it's the app. PDF's are fine in QuickOffice and in Perfect Viewer with the PDF plugin. You can disable the page flipping animation in the settings though and get better response though.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I use Juice Defender to do a similar thing, but automated. When you screen is off, the app generally restricts your data (allowing you to set which programs are and are not restricted), but when you wake it with an unlock, it reboots your data connection.
this would be helpful, say if you wanted to save battery only. If you are looking to restric the amount of data used altogether, not sure this is very helpful. That can be taken care of in your settings menu though anyway.
Also if you use an android smartphone try installing Juice Defender and set it to Balanced mode. It disables data when your phone isn't being used, which helps your battery tremendously. And don't worry if you have apps that sync in the background, Juice Defender turns data on once every 15 minutes to let things sync up if your phone is idle that long.
Also, if your phone slows down often you might try AutoKiller. It keeps your memory at a good enough level to keep your phone running fast without bogging down because of too many background apps staying open. It automatically stops a service if you're not using it and it's taking up unnecessary space. Your phone does NOT have to be rooted in order to benefit from it. Rooted users just get more options.
As SwiftCtitizen has suggested, JuiceDefender is worth trying. It works by keeping wifi and 3g/4g services off when the screen is off and turning it back on at intervals for a minute or so to allow services to sync (there is obviously much more customization available [such as by app or location], but that's just a simple overview). I used it for a long while, and even bought the ultimate version to unlock the extra functionality. However, I eventually found the slowness with which it enabled wifi or data to be tiresome. I no longer use it, and instead use Powerful Control . It provides an expanded power control widget. While the default power control widget only has toggles for wifi, bluetooth, GPS, sync, and brightness, you can configure the powerful control widget to include data, screen rotation, airplane mode, silent mode, vibration, tethering, and a flashlight in addition to the default widget functionality. PowerfulControl also features the ability to act as a notification, meaning (in ICS at least) I can swipe down and switch between wifi and 3g/4g in a matter of seconds when I want to and turn it off to save battery if I don't (when using juice defender I would have to unlock my phone, let it try to connect to a wifi network (it would try for up to a minute), then if it couldn't it would turn off wifi and connect to mobile data. As I said, waiting a minute or so every time I wanted to use the internet got a little tiresome. Both applications are free though, and I would suggest trying both.
Juice Defender it works for Bluetooth and your mobile network connection too, if you want.
