This site lets you search to see the availability of a username on 550 different sites. If you use the same name for most sites, you could ostensibly use this to see if someone is using the same username if it's listed as taken on a site you don't use.
Tip: Secure your brand name on every social media platform imaginable even if you're not currently using it, or even if you never plan to use it. Know Em is a good tool to see the availability of user names across hundreds of platforms.
Frustration: I don't have a 100K budget to get access to Instagram advertising (or whatever the ridiculous minimum commitment is).
Also, KnowEm will help connect some of their accounts to others. I found this in the article above.
Have fun
EDIT: Also, try some advanced Google search, made by Google.
If you don't plan on adding a shopping cart on the site, then don't worry about it. It would be something that's beneficial for type in traffic as you said, since it's more user friendly.
Linking to an ETSY product directly on pinterest means that you get to see that the pin is from ETSY, which tells the person clicking that it's an item for sale (which is on ETSY). This may increase someones likelihood of clicking compared to them seeing a pin that is from a website they don't know about. Most people see the ETSY link and trust links from that source. It's always good to branch from ETSY though and start off on your own, while still keeping the ETSY shop going.
You either get in contact w/ the website owner, or you get the .net, or the .org or both. In the mean time, build those up until one day you secure the .com and transfer 301 the .net/.org to the .com.
For anyone wanting to brand their shops, check out: http://knowem.com/checkusernames.php?u=kiraspetshop and https://namechk.com/
These let you know if your name structure is business friendly. The last thing you want is to drop time/money into something only to realize someone already registered half of the stuff available and you can no longer branch from ETSY and keep your shop name because someone took the .com/.net/.org/ETC. Don't purchase stuff from the 2 sites above, only use it as a reference. Only vouching for the name checking ability.
I agree. Bad choice on the name IMO but, it's the internet. Most of that information...and a lot more...can be found with a few google searches.
I guess maybe it is for those who don't understand that it's like posting pictures and updates of their personal life to a college bulletin board that the whole world can see. Then get creeped out when someone recognizes them on campus.
The information is readily available and I don't see how it can be expected that no one look at the information.
Here's one that searches over 500 sites by username
EDIT: And another example:
Your reddit account
Hi; this is the old minisite we made before we created KnowEm.com. It may be a little out of date, because our primary site http://knowem.com now searches over 500 social networks, so we haven't updated checkusernames.com in a while. Thanks for letting us know this needs updating!!
Full disclosure: I own this site, but I just wanted to let you know that http://knowem.com/ offers a great free search for branding both social media and domains (and actually trademarks too if you're interested). You can also purchase a domain through our affiliate for $8.99. So if you wanted to find that next dot com name, and ensure there are a couple hundred social networks with the same name still available, take a look ;)
I'm a bit concerned your SEO guy has said Google doesn't place much emphasis on backlinks. Although times have changed with regards to building links, having a natural looking link profile that consists of primarily branded links is one of the many ranking factors. Your first steps for SEO should be to stamp your brand across the 100's of social sites. Checkout http://knowem.com/ and you should have business profiles on at least the top 100 sites. Our SEO agency performs this process before anything else
This the closest one i found....http://knowem.com/
Though it doesn't offer you any automated list of all the social accounts of any company, but it'd at least tell you if they have accounts on any social networks....
try it yourself....
I'm still searching more for tools
Well even if you don't end up wanting an instagram, I always tell everyone starting up to claim every social media channel mainly as a defense against impersonation. This includes purchasing your domain name. If you are set on this name that's fine you could add an underscore (Happy_Linda) but if you can pick something else do that. Also there are tools to check availability such as http://knowem.com/. As far as picking a name this tool is cool http://kittyscammodels.com/generator/ (just don't sign up with them though they're a virtual studio for streamate)
Was just thinking about this two days ago! It's weird how a thread always pops up when I have a question or there's something I'm not sure about.
I did some Google searching and found this site. (No, I'm not affiliated) I didn't sign up for their services, but used the list so I could sign up for the ones I wanted myself.
I doubt I'll use all the accounts I created but wanted to reserve the name on the major ones so that if the site takes off, no-one can try to take it and use it.
Definitely a pain in the ass!
Hey, check out http://knowem.com/ to pick a name that is cohesive across social networks and available as a url. This way you can own your brand throughout your online marketing.
M studio is a branding and design company, so feel free to reach out if you decide to go the professional route instead of DIY. mdidit.com
http://knowem.com/ Something like this? working right now so can't really check it. I don't think this is the one I found before but i remember there being a site that would at least let you look up on a bunch of popular sites.
