Very cool find, thanks for letting us know!
I love how it lets you access your dock through the app. For the price of free, it's definitely worth checking out. Make sure to get the server app installed from their website under the downloads area.
I use Mobile Mouse Pro to control my Mac mini. The mini is connected to my HDTV in a media Mac setup. It provides trackpad and keyboard functionality with my iPhone or iPad, so I need not always have my bluetooth keyboard and mouse on the coffee table. It's a very good app for this purpose:
If you have a iPhone I recommend http://www.mobilemouse.com/ . Turns your phone into a touchpad, I belive there is a free version of it aswell.
I know there are similar apps for Android aswell, sadly I dont have any links.
If you have a smart phone... look at http://www.mobilemouse.com/. Their app/software allows for wake on lan. I use their software to control my computer (keyboard/mouse/etc) from couch... and than once at a point I can launch Big Picture with the 360 controller, done. Also does hotkeys really well... I have ones setup to switch between my triple screen desk setup, to my TV (via Windows projector mode).
Mobile Mouse. I've been using it forever. It has lots of features but the main one is it turns your screen into a touchpad. Also works as air remote or whatever you call that (gyroscope based, just wave your phone in the air and the cursor will follow). It's not free but totally worth it.
Or you can just get a cheap wireless mouse.
I downloaded the Mobile Mouse app to my phone and downloaded the program here down at the bottom. Then I connected the phone to the server program from that site via my IP. I actually had to port forward to connect them. You will need to get the pro version to use the tracking which is 2 dollars but I'd say it's worth it.
With the Apple Remote App it can act as a pretty decent iTunes controller. With an app like Mobile Mouse Pro, it can act as a trackpad and keyboard (etc.) for your computer:
That cable could be the issue. I would also test to see if the long cable works with your laptop and an Apple Mini Display adapter. Third party components aren't made as well as factory, and are more prone to these types of issues. If you can use the shorter cord until you can get a new one or test another adapter, you can use Mobile Air Mouse on your iPhone or Android device. It works fairly well for browsing and watching video, although I wouldn't want to type even this much using it. Mobile Air Mouse
Keyboard option is a great idea! You can already interact using touch, but typing would a good addition.
In case you didn't know about it, I also use Mobile Mouse on my iPhone to control my Mac from afar (it has a keyboard as well). Of course there's also the many VNC apps.
I just use a remote app on my smartphone. Access the devices via the wireless internet in the house rather than IR. Added bonus is I can control the stereo and song selection from the phone without even being in the same room. Great customization features to add pretty much anything you want, as well as creating macros, etc to simply fire up things like Netflix, or Hulu or whatever. And you get a touch screen cursor control or you can use the internal gyroscope to move the phone around to control the cursor.
I use Mobile Mouse Pro on the iPhone (also abvailable on Android). Caught it being offered for free one day so I nabbed it up. Would still be worth the money. Works great and has accepted anything I've thrown at it.
