Hi u/opinionraccoon, I was literally just practicing the Hindi to English course before I read this post. It's pretty good but not super great if you are trying to learn Hindi. I've found that some grammatically correct sentences are not accepted, which is irritating. It also requires a bit of background knowledge in Hindi. I'm a fluent native speaker and even I stumbled a bit, as the grammar in some sentences wasn't the best.
So I think it would be really difficult to do this course even if you already know English, because you are also expected to translate from English to Hindi, and you're already expected to know the grammar of Hindi. Although you will pick up quite a bit of Hindi from the course, it's always preferable and more enjoyable/comfortable to use the course designed for your native language, English.
I looked at Mondly Languages, and it seems like a high-quality Duolingo replacement for the time being, at least until the Duolingo course comes out, of course.
I wouldn't believe the dates for duolingo Czech- when I last looked at it their predictions were obviously wildly inaccurate (incredibly optimistic). I contacted them and explained that, if they took n days to do 10% of the work, how did they expect to do 100% of the work in 2*n days and didn't get a response.
Mondly is a good Czech learning resource. You must pay once for it but it is compelling to try to do a little every day and I find I really retain a larger vocabulary through using it. Occasionally they have special offers too, making it much cheaper. When it first was released there were lots of errors but I think they're on top of it now.
The only thing I know of that's structured exactly the same way as Duolingo is Mondly. It's free to begin with but then you have to pay. May or may not be worth it. I didn't pay so I can't say how good the paid version is.
Hi, I'm very late to the party here. But if she is happy using an App or website, than similar to duolingo is Mondly (It's written by a Romanian developer). It has the unique feature of teaching any language to any other language in its collection: https://www.mondlylanguages.com
