The detailed information is here on the GitHub project's readme. I've never used it and am not very familiar with it. At a glance, you need to install GPU or other hardware drivers. Also, its not super clear, but it looks like the multiminer will download a precompiled version of bfgminer for you, either when installing it or as some part of when you are running it.
I didn't know software would be needed. Figured you'd just add something to Multiminer or CGminer
https://github.com/nwoolls/MultiMiner/wiki/GPU-Algorithms
"More importantly, the user can easily add support for any algorithm by providing a compatible backend miner."
I was also interested in this and vow to never use Windows. In my research I came across a few options.
autominer - closed source so not huge a fan
MultiMiner - cross platform GUI that seems to have some profit switching.
Mining Pool Hub - I'll likely just go with this. Choose an algo and mine the most profitable coins until a more mature open source linux project comes along.
That is currently mining with "Desktop" Intensity, as shown by the D in the Intensity column.
Check out the Advanced Miner Settings where you can set per-algorithm arguments to pass to the backend miner, such as the -I
argument for Intensity (the screenshot shows -I 17
for Scrypt).
I swear by MultiMiner. https://github.com/nwoolls/MultiMiner/releases
"MultiMiner is a graphical application for crypto-coin mining on Windows, OS X and Linux. It uses the underlying mining engine (bfgminer) to detect available mining devices and then presents a user interface for selecting the coins you'd like to mine." - Scrypt and SHA-256.
All credit and a HUGE thank you to Nate Woolls!!! https://github.com/nwoolls Never met you buddy but I look forward to every update....
