I'm still actively using RSS.
I use Newsblur as my primary reader. It is pretty similar to Google reader and I think it's a lot better than feedly.
The biggest problem with RSS is that you won't always any feeds with the content you're after. My solution for this is creating the feeds myself, using the Kimono Chrome extention.
This works well for me, but I would still like there to be more alternatives.
Also ich nutze newblur glücklich und zufrieden nach wie vor. Deren Slogan "A new sound for an old instrument" trifft es gut.
Newsblur.[free for up to 64 feeds] ... e.g.

Have a look at Newsblur. You'll access to all features (unlimited sites, search function, all stories at once, higher upgrade frequency etc) by paying 36 € per year but the free version is enough for my using (up to 64 sites, 5 stories at the time, fewer upgrades etc.).To know more, here's the site https://www.newsblur.com/
If you ever want to give it a try again, my personal favorite is newsblur. It takes a little work and knowhow to set up but it works pretty well, imo.
It's not 100% like Flipboard but I believe Newsblur can do some of what you're looking for. It learns the types of articles you like and ranks new ones based on those preferences. It can be self hosted, although doing so isn't trivial.
I might be the only one, but would want a client for Newsblur like the free software app for Android. Otherwise, basic stuff that might already be covered: * Calendar * Task list * Contacts * CalDAV/CardDAV sync for use with the above
Check out NewsBlur: >We do not share your personal information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to accomplish NewsBlur’s functionality. In other words, your information is not sold or given away to any third-parties.
True enough, although I'll vouch for Newsblur as a privacy-focused RSS service. It's a service in that it keeps track of items you've read, allows you to save items, mark items as un-read, etc. And it's available both on the web and as mobile apps. Their privacy policy states that they do not sell or share any of your data to third parties.
Not sure it will work for OP's request, however, in that their free version is extremely limited.
I love NewsBlur. It's the only website I pay to use. They have free account, IIRC you're limited to 50 feeds. I even pull some subreddits onto newsblur so I don't miss any posts.
I like to see where my story hits come from. I noticed a hit today from a new source.
The source was called NewsBlur. It appears to be a fairly robust RSS / Story / News tool. I have seen people here asking about such things in the past. I don't have a need for something like that at this time, so I'm not going to try it. There appears to be both a free and a paid version.
If a couple people try it and like it, others here might be interested in it.
