youtube-dl-gui hasn't been updated since 2018, I would go with someting that still gets new updates like tartube or ydl-ui or even a aria2 gui like persepolis .
Hey OP look at this: https://persepolisdm.github.io/. If you scroll down you will see a extension for integrating into browsers(how to integrate). Last update Sep 2019 but FOSS and integrates into browsers
For me, Pesepolis Download Manager is enough for my use case which is downloading iso images.

I'm not quite sure if the features are equivalent with JDownloader2, but it does detect copied links.
~~omg we really do put convenience over everything else~~
well like theSadru said this is ~~simple~~ complex, so the GUI gang will find this noice
persepolis is essentially a gui interface for aria2 and youtube-dl
btw youtube-dl was maybe just the projects aim and first supported site. In reality, it is used tool to download vids from many websites
More precisely :
sudo apt install software-properties-common sudo add-apt-repository ppa:persepolis/ppa sudo apt update sudo apt install persepolis
This works, I use this software myself.
Haven’t used IDM but from its description
Persepolis Download Manager is a download manager and GUI for aria2 (a command line download utility). You can create a queue of files for download and schedule when such downloads will take place, as well as pause and resume downloads.
Open Source and available for Windows and Mac
