We just put a new podcast streaming site online. It lets you stream episodes, create and share clips, and create and share playlists. It's also free and open source. If there are podcasts you want added to the site please let us know!
Marco Fucking Rubio...
"Time will tell. It may have happened: it may not have happened. The president's decision is the decision that the president has made."
"I live in a matchbook. My best friend is a caterpillar. I am, spiritually, very small"
My last HP laptop had this little "HP helper" or something and it just wouldn't go away. Later I read something about it being a security issue so I'm glad I trashed that windows install and put Ubuntu on it.
On the bright side HP sponsors a lot of Linux events I like, so I have mixed feelings. But then again HP's printers have done some horrible stuff. Like purposefully breaking people's printers if you used 3rd party ink. So lame. Link: https://podverse.fm/episode/WAU2LHxZi
Dylan Ratigan has been on fire lately with his Covid bailout commentary. He basically says Democrats and Republicans (“the Pelosi/Trump axis of evil”) have deliberately torched the economy to help the super rich and destroy the poor and middle class.
Highlights from recent appearances:
We’ve made a national industry of ridiculing the village idiot
The people most impacted by Covid 19 are getting the least from each bailout
In a way, yes. Podverse focuses on crowd-sourcing the creation of highlights for podcasts. If enough people actively create highlights for the Joe Rogan Experience using the app, then you could browse and skip around to listen to only the most popular highlights from a selected episode. The full episode would still be loaded for you, but it would be easy for you to see what moments are most popular, and for you to skip to those positions.
Here's an example of a Tim Ferriss episode with multiple clips. If you select the "From this episode" dropdown filter, then you'll see the 2 clips that were created for this episode.
Given this relies on crowd-sourcing though, we'll need a critical mass of users before you can reliably find highlights for each episode.
Will your old HTTP feed URL redirect to the HTTPS version? Or were you planning on removing the old HTTP feed URL entirely? (don't do that)
If your old HTTP URL will redirect to HTTPS, you should be ok because apps should handle the redirect no problem, but it depends on how the app is coded.
Just my opinion as an open source podcast app developer. If an app can't handle an HTTP to HTTPS redirect, that's the developer's fault and not yours.
Thanks :) Hmm I like the idea, hadn't thought of that.
Since it seemed feasible, I went ahead and threw support for something like that in. Here's a sample episode URL with start and end time support:
https://podverse.fm/episodes/HJZ_vcyynl?s=300&e=335
That should play the episode from 5:00 to 5:35.
We just put Podverse online for exactly this purpose. It lets you stream episodes, create and share clips, and create and share playlists. It's also free and open source. If there are podcasts you want added to the site, please let us know!
