Welcome to Canada and to Ajax! As nigglenorf said, the waterfront in Ajax is a great place to catch a variety of Pokemon, and the area usually has some active lures. The easiest way to access this area is just go South on Harwood Ave all the way to the bottom of the street.
Personally, I grind for items at Pickering Village (Old Kingston Road around Church and Kingston Road) - There's about 10-12 stops within walking distance of each other, along with 4 gyms. The spawns aren't too great there, but great for hatching eggs and collecting items.
The Pickering Waterfront near the nuclear power plant is also a decent area if you want to walk around and hatch eggs. There are quite a few stops that are along the boardwalk, and even more stops in the winding trails that are around that area too. Either the Ajax or Pickering waterfronts might be good spots if you want to grind for a Magikarp, but I don't even have one myself yet. Easiest way to get here is take Liverpool all the way south.
http://pgmo.ddns.net/ is a good tracker, but I generally use https://pokehuntr.com/ and https://gymhuntr.com/ for scouting out raids. The only downside about poke and gymhuntr is that those require manual scans and have a limited radius.
Hope to see you out playing sometime!
Downtown Silver Spring has a bunch recently. I got three in the last two days. One by Fenwick beer and wine, by the library, and by Woodside Park.

Miami beach is great! Corsola spawn all over the beach by the water. If you are open to it, using a scanner is a great help, like this one. https://pokehuntr.com/#25.750424835909385,-80.19538879394533
Yeah, but that will always exist:
I guess that's my sticking point. They'll always be around, just seems like a waste of resources, but yeah I'm not in favor of it having IVs show.
https://pokehuntr.com/#33.84906003455986,-84.30580973625183 There is a stop where I dropped the pin. Thats where I found it yesterday. I normally see them once a week or so. Also found an Unkown there yesterday too! I can see this stop from my work and normally its just endless garbage but yesterday was particularly awesome.
You can use https://pokehuntr.com/ to search around before they kill the API (I'm guessing that all sites will prob stop functioning after the update fully rolls out). That's how I found some of the gyms on hiking paths.
