Temporary fix that I got to work is to run mobile data through a VPN.

1) Get OpenVPN Connect and PrivateTunnel

2) Activate free PrivateTunnel account and game should load fine with vpn running

Well if you're downloading it from an untrusted source then you can get malware in any program.

But most sites like those that can't even spell pokemon are just clickbaits.

I use Unicode characters to rename my Pokémon. Oftentimes in the following format:

[IV%](ATK IV)(DEF IV)(HP IV)[MOVESET](LVL)

Specifically, I use this app called UnicodePad (for Android only, sorry) to find, copy, and paste unicode characters to rename my Pokémon.

Since IVs range from 0-15, I use these characters:

• 0: U+24EA
• 1-15: U+2460 to U+246E

Since levels range from 0 to 40, I use these characters (if a Pokémon is say lvl35.5, I use put a 5 after the Unicode for 35, making it ㉟5):

• The above mentioned unicode characters from 0-15
• 16-20: U+246F to U+2473
• 21-35: U+3251 to U+325F
• 36-40: U+32B1 to U+32B5
