Rogue Legacy is fun, but gets pretty grindy after a while. The majority of the game's randomization comes from permanent equipment that's passed on from heir to heir, monster reskins, and the shifting castle layout. I enjoyed it for a few hours but I found it getting awfully repetitive. If you're into 2D platforming games, give it a shot. You can also fine a demo here.
And the Pit just felt really iffy. The presentation was poor and it didn't really stand out for me. Glad I got it in the Humble Roguelike Sale instead of paying for it full price.
one of my favorites sort of matches your description.
Rogue Legacy (http://roguelegacy.com/) is a Rogue-Like platformer where you are trying to make your way through a castle with heroes with weird quirks. The bosses are exceptionally difficult and it is a sidescroller.
Remember, the minds behind indie darling Rogue Legacy started with Don't Shit Your Pants
Actually, that's a terrible example. Don't Shit Your Pants was great.
So pretty much nearly every single Indie game?
Well, You should probably get started on games I like to call "AA" games.
^^^I ^^^call ^^^them ^^^that ^^^because ^^^they're ^^^very ^^^known ^^^indie ^^^games ^^^that ^^^are ^^^nearly ^^^AAA
Alright, so first off is Terraria. Imagine Minecraft, but really, really good with a LOT more content. (And 2D) In fact, it's so different that people dislike it when it is compared to Minecraft because it's nothing like it.
Moving on, we have...
Rogue Legacy is one of the first in the wave of Roguelikes that has crashed into the Indie ocean. (Wow, that was a weird analogy) The people who made it combined Roguelikes and Platforming into a nice mix. And I don't usually like platforming.
I think that's all I should drop on you right now. Just go out and look for some. The best place to look is probably Steam, but you can find other places.
Rogue Legacy sounds really good for you. It's kind of a rogue-like game, with randomly generated castle layouts that you explore and fight monsters in, but you start out really weak. The twist is when you die, one of your heirs takes over, using the gold you collected to purchase upgrades for your mansion and equipment. As you explore the castle and get stronger and stronger, you can start accessing more difficult regions, discover special powerups, things like that. Your family is also the most inbred, fucking family in the world so your progeny can have special conditions that affect the way they play, whether suffering dwarfism that allows you to access secret small passages, tourrettes that make you swear when you take damage, or a hypochondriac who exaggerates how hurt he is.

And the 1GB is not enough. I'm already out of space, I had to delete stuff off of the cloud save to make more space. LBP3 isn't the only spacehog, my Alien Inception save is around 200MB. I say it's not a good deal because you can't save everything, so if my HDD f***s up I won't get all of my saves just the ones I had room for. Now you can back up saves to a USB drive, but some games don't let you do that, and saving to a USB drive is not automatic which is the advantage of cloud saving. Sony should just give unlimited space for saves and don't tell me that sony can't do that and has to set the limit somewhere. XBOX one gets unlimited cloud saves. That's unlimited.
I'd like to see a good solid run on Rogue Legacy. It can frequently be found on steam or The Humble Store for under $4 if you don't already have it.
