I haven't used http://snackr.net/ , but its description doesn't sound like how I personally would want to use RSS (timely in-chronological-order notifications):
> "What's Snackr? It's an RSS ticker that pulls random items [from within your specified timeframe] from your feeds and scrolls them across your desktop."
> "How often does Snackr check feeds? Currently it checks all feeds on startup, and after that it waits at least 45 minutes between checks of a given feed."
> "if you're like me, you don't have time to read all the stuff being pumped out of blogs at an alarming rate. You just want to be distracted occasionally in boring meetings, or when you're supposed to be doing real work. If so, Snackr is for you."
You might like http://www.feednotifier.com/ instead:
> "Feed Notifier is an application for Windows and Mac OS X that resides in the system tray or status bar and displays pop-up notifications on your desktop when new items arrive in your subscribed RSS or Atom feeds."
I find myself wanting to post an idea that is not specific to a given browser, and not specific to RES, about ideas for better browsing. It's something one does a lot, too much, no doubt. So why not share tips on how to browse more effectively and efficiently?
Here's one to start: try using snackr and have it scroll the items from your google news feed, or any feeds you want to load into it, across the top of your screen while yoiu do other things. You never know what will catch your eye. It'd improve reddit, too, as you'd see items you'd miss that are not on reddit, but you may wnat ot share.
+1 This reminds me of http://snackr.net/
Something i used to use Daily on my work PC, Looked for years for a android version. Never happened. Closest i have seen to anything alike it (Even though its reddit only, But RSS you may be onto a winner, Take my money!!
