I love this kind of shit. These "buzzword bingo" companies always have the same shit:
Let's look at their technology...
Optimal: Multi-protocol, context-aware message & data delivery technology // we dun programmed sockets
Picosync: Unparalleled data syncing across all your devices, faster than the blink of an eye // Data syncing app, that's fresh
Ensight: Meaningful insights at a user level that unleash a new paradigm in digital assistance // https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YGDnfIytKI
Entwine: Threading conversations across multiple protocols // Making sure all the messages in "Optimal" have timestamps on our node.js backend
A.P.C.: Adaptive Privacy Controls. Intelligent protection with unmatched convenience // I bet there's nothing adaptive about that
OMNI: Modern communications brought together in a single application on all your smart devices // Social media aggregator #135135 confirmed, LITERALLY WUPHF FROM THE OFFICE US
Someone show these fags Trillian which has been around since forever
Yep - https://www.trillian.im/changelog/windows/
After they officially abandoned the Google Talk desktop client I was forced to find an alternative for work, and this is working out really nicely so far.
My old Trillian v5.6 basic currently can't connect to AIM right now. Its log keeps showing "Internal error". I have no problems connecting with https://www.trillian.im/chat and Pidgin's Finch though. :(
Its support said I have to use the newer versions: https://www.trillian.im/help/user/aim/ ... :(
I don't think so, they keep making new versions, just not for windows right now
I think/hope the service isn't dying as I use it for everything (except skype ..) and I have a lifetime account :p
Try trillian. It lets you sync most of the chats that exist like facebook, hangouts, etc. I use it all the time, best thing. Link me: Trillian
Edit: link me doesn't seem to work here sry... here ya go: https://www.trillian.im/
There's trillian. I haven't used it in a long time but last time I used it it looked better than pidgin. It doesn't make use of the touch capability in surface pro if that's what you're looking for and it might be a little awkward using it with your fingers directly on the screen. There are a lot of im clients but trillian is probably the best looking one. hth. If you like trillian upvote would be helpful. i am new here ( hint )
I am right there with you! I had the whole company loving hipchat and then they dropped that ridiculous clown shoe pricing and we just noped the fucked right out of there. We're currently demo-ing Trillian's Enterprise offering and really digging it.

The pricing is very reasonable for the self hosted solution.
I know Trillian bills themselves as a cross-platform messenger, but I haven't used them in probably almost 10 years and I don't know for sure what they support. If you check out their forums you might find what you're looking for.
Edit: From wikipedia. Don't know if this list is exhaustive or not.
>It can connect to multiple IM services, such as AIM, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Bonjour, XMPP, and Skype networks; as well as social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace; and email services, such as POP3, IMAP, Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail.
Trillian is the best IM client out there, aside from the fact that it doesn't have steam chat
It does however have notification and chat sync across devices, looks really nice, and supports a ton of protocols
It has apps for android and iOS as well
Not that I've found so far. I think the problem is that Facebook chat is built on Jabber (which is open source) - so plenty of clients can connect to it, but Facebook adds their own proprietary stuff on top of it (like 'Seen' notifications, locations and group chat). Because that's all closed source, no one is compatable with those features :(
Trillian is a good replacement for everything except group chat.
