The Facebook page states,"We will permanently delete your ID from our servers once we have used it for verification purposes". So they don't have thousands of Redditor's IDs on their servers.

If you are going this route and you've had your facebook for a decent amount of time you should download your information. Facebook will zip up your pictures, messages and wallposts for you. Account Settings > Download Your Information.
I believe we have the right to call someone a shit if they truly are troll scum, but that’s been my main cause for ‘violations’ that are far less heinous than the vile hate speech I stupidly try to call out. All I care about now is choice friendships, avoiding news outlets and a clean slate. NordVPN on Android? Possible? Thank so much.
I’ve made many mistakes by calling out true hate speech trolls on news outlets. I constantly get banned unjustly - last time was for genuine compassion in a private bipolar support group. All I dearly want is to chuck account on pyre, start afresh, clean slate with a few choice friends, and learn you can never beat bullies, sadly. I have heard there may be a solution via NordVPN on Android. Is this true, and is there a guide, please? Many thanks guys.
I recommend switching to a 3rd party app like Swipe for Facebook. Older UI, but its much cleaner than the official app and not as memory-intensive. It doesn't force you to get the messenger app too, since the message function is preserved. Plus, its free.
Not sure if this will work for everyone, but I found a way to hide the ticker. Granted, it doesn't keep what you're doing from being on there, but at least you don't have to look at it.
If you have Firefox/Chrome, add this to adblock:

If you're not using secure browsing, take out the s in https://
Let me know if it works as I haven't had anyone else try it.
You can use this tip. If you're not using Chorme, other browsers have similar features. Just search for BROWSER'S NAME clik to play plugin
I personally just use FB chat through a desktop application with XMPP (Jabber). Adium on Mac OS X works great for me. Then I don't have to worry about keeping an FB tab open all day in my browser. There's instructions here: https://www.facebook.com/sitetour/chat.php
There's a Chrome extension that removes it, also Firefox addon "Better Facebook" that's able to kill it. Not sure if something similar exists for other browsers, try google.
It's because of the new Messenger version that's rolling out: https://thenextweb.com/facebook/2020/03/02/facebook-messenger-on-ios-is-now-twice-as-fast-and-a-quarter-the-size/. It's a total rewrite from scratch.
Some of the features should be coming back soon: https://www.facebook.com/help/messenger-app/553420285273393
Yes, that is either because the person is using Facebook on mobile browser or Frost (third party Facebook wrapper)
If you want to know exactly why this is happening, that's because Messenger isn't refreshing in the background in those cases, it only loads once the person open the conversation and that's why it goes from Sent to Seen directly. Meanwhile on the computer browser and the official Messenger app it's always refreshing in the background that's why you can see Delivered before the other person open the conversation.
you can use this app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ich.andre.partialscreen&hl=en_US&gl=US) everytime you open the messenger app and turn it off otherwise. This blocks part of your screen, and you can just make a black opaque rectangle to achieve this.
I using my facebook account with computer ( chrome linux ) and mobile application ( android ).
Chrome Version = 86.0.4240.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Here is my chrome extension lists.

Portal is a product that Facebook sells. It's like a video messaging device. I didn't even open it, just got the serial number off the box to contact their customer service. After I got my account back, I returned the Portal to Amazon. It all felt wrong, but it was the only way I could get anyone to talk to me.

I expect they're selected in the same way as the friends who showed up on the left side of your profile pre-timeline. The help article explanation of that is at https://www.facebook.com/help/new/?faq=116320945119338.
So assuming it's the same, it's a sampling of your top friends, based on a combination of whose wall you post on, whose content you comment on and like, which people you attend events with, who you're tagged in photos with, etc. It's facebook's measure of who you're closest with, but only using interactions visible to other people (no profile views, chat messages, or pokes).

Is there any way I can access the desktop website for Facebook Lite (lite.facebook.com) in the US?
Back when I still had my phone, I had the Lite app installed(downloaded an apk) and fell in love with its simplicity and small amount of resources used compared to the standard Facebook app. I'm hoping to do the same thing with FB on my laptop because the standard site is a total resource hog.
They've been testing it for the last couple months. For some messages that would have previously gone to the other (read: spam) folder, you can pay to have it go to the inbox instead. The payment serves as a quality filter, since people will presumably only pay for messages that are important, plus it's a revenue stream.
>It's impossible for you to make that judgement call. You don't know who I am, the work I've done in the past, my political affiliations etc.
Are you a terrorist? If not, they don't give a fuck and they can't get a warrant regardless. You also said you don't have anything on posted that you're worried about so stop throwing a hissy fit.
> I'm concerned about sending Facebook the highly sensitive identity information they've requested from me in order to unlock my account.
Why not use a real name for your account and your business name for your business page? Or if not, just show them a piece of mail. They don't want much. What is someone going to get from your name and address?
This article doesn't even mention Facebook, don't waste my time.
>Shutting off someone's business account when all they've done is throw money at you and demanding sensitive documents is absolute bullshit, I don't know how you do business over there but it's not how we do business over here in Australia, so as far as I'm concerned Facebook can go fuck itself.
You paid to promote your stories. Facebook promoted those stories beyond your natural reach. You got what you paid for. Your account is being disabled, as you know, for violating the authentic name policy. I don't know how they do things in Australia, but in the US, it's generally legal for businesses offering a free service to turn off said service, so as far as I'm concerned, you're an entitled little fuck throwing a hissy fit and you can go fuck yourself.
I do have a business page, but in order to have a business page you require a personal profile. I wasn't able to create a business page without having a personal profile, this option was disabled a few years ago, see ( https://www.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=642288749167519 )
PRISM has nothing to do with me? It's impossible for you to make that judgement call. You don't know who I am, the work I've done in the past, my political affiliations etc. And PRISM isn't my only concern, it's just one of the programs in place to conduct mass surveillance against the global population.
I'm not concerned about what I post on Facebook. I'm concerned about sending Facebook the highly sensitive identity information they've requested from me in order to unlock my account. They said they will delete it but that doesn't mean shit - as soon as Facebook has them so does their mass surveillance espionage partners. Deleting them after the fact accomplishes nothing.
Do some reading & educate yourself for your own benefit. This is the same criticism as applies to Windows 10 encryption key escrow ( read https://theintercept.com/2015/12/28/recently-bought-a-windows-computer-microsoft-probably-has-your-encryption-key/ ). Once the encryption key (or my sensitive documents) are uploaded to Microsoft (or Facebook) they are IMMEDIATELY up for grabs to Microsoft's/Facebook's mass surveillance partners. Deleting them after the fact has no meaning at that point, the only cure is prevention.
For my part I've filed a complaint with the ACCC and I'm going to let them handle it from here. Shutting off someone's business account when all they've done is throw money at you and demanding sensitive documents is absolute bullshit, I don't know how you do business over there but it's not how we do business over here in Australia, so as far as I'm concerned Facebook can go fuck itself.
You sound surprised? BranchOut is based on milking the LinkedIn social graph using FB as a viral spam host. http://www.switched.com/2011/01/11/branchout-helps-you-land-...
They took a nice page out of the FB playbook, ie import as much data from your competitors before they cut you off. I've never understood why LinkedIn gave them access to the API to begin with. http://techcrunch.com/2011/07/01/linkedin-cuts-off-api-acces...
Now, is there anyone here who fell for their spammy messages and actually USES BranchOut?
One of our Reddit colleagues has provided what may prove to be a solution. Try Chrome Beta
It cleared the issue on one computer, I'll report back on the others as we get results. Out colleague texted me the information - or I'd be happy to give them the credit they are due.

We do have one questionnaire that is of multiple-choice. So that may help them with their unfamiliarity or mostly laziness.
3 per day? that doesn't even take 3 seconds for me, the only time it will take a bit longer if it's hard to decipher if they're Filipino or one of those spamming sellers/referral link spam, I feel like your group's link private and the link is shared outside facebook like your own website or some product listing? By some reason a non-customer tries to join, like a current customer sharing the link, just copy a canned response like ''Sorry we only approve customers so to stop piracy or something''
To answer your thread, so far there's no feature to decline with a reason, but there's something similar if they're trying to post in your group and you need to approve every post, I guess this is the feature you're looking for.

IMO those we decline don't deserve to be replied, the requirements & qualifications are already posted, clear and simple.
I have plans to sell merchandise on a page that is run by an account I also use personally. I read on this website that it is against Terms of Use to sell products with a "personal account". Does this mean I would have to create a new "business" account and use that to run the store?
You can download Facebook videos by pasting its URL to VidPaw's search bar. Very easy.

Sure, you can use Restream! They have two comprehensive Twitch guides, I suggest you read both: How to stream on Twitch: the ultimate guide & How to become a Twitch Affiliate without putting in years (the later gives hints on how to become affiliate and use multi-stream)
There's the diaspora* project which is decentralized and focuses more on user freedom and privacy. Having no central server means there's no single entity to shut it down or to be bought out.
Have you looked into Diaspora? I haven't heard so much about it recently but I think it's still out there, and it was set up to be decentralised (you can host your own diaspora network) and that makes me guess you might get to moderate it by your own self-defined standards. https://diasporafoundation.org/
You could do it for photo posts using the F.B. Purity ( http://fbpurity.com ) browser extension: http://www.fbpurity.com After installing it, copy and paste the following CSS code into the Custom CSS box on the extension's options screen (you need to click the Custom CSS header on the options screen before pasting it in)
span.fbPhotoTagList, #fbPhotoSnowliftTagList, #fbPhotoPageTagList {display:none}
its not so simple to do it for other posts, as fb dont seem to use specific id's or classes for tags on other posts.
You can try right clicking anywhere on the screen and clicking "Inspect" or "developer tools" (Ctrl Shift I is a shortcut too)
This brings up the HTML of the page you're looking at. At the most top left of the developer tools (in chrome at least) there's a little box with a cursor in it that will let you select an element on the page, select the text box you typed your message. This should jump to the html that contains your text and you can copy and paste it from the HTML. You might have to click the little arrows next to the <div> or the <span> or whatever the text is inside of to see it.
I realize this might not make sense right away if you've never used developer tools before but click around and see if you can figure it out.
EDIT: yeah should be the same in firefox too, here's a little guide on how to use the selector tool, https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Page_Inspector/How_to/Select_an_element
FB does have a subscription based model, just not for the main site. You could setup FB workplace for $3 a person with no ads. Workplace is pretty much the same thing as FB but with only posts from users on that space. It's pretty nice actually and much more group focused than standard FB.
Not that I've found so far. I think the problem is that Facebook chat is built on Jabber (which is open source) - so plenty of clients can connect to it, but Facebook adds their own proprietary stuff on top of it (like 'Seen' notifications, locations and group chat). Because that's all closed source, no one is compatable with those features :(
Trillian is a good replacement for everything except group chat.
Ah, I think you mean newsfeed? Newsfeed is the home page, whereas Timeline is the stream of stories on a profile.
Regardless, there's no way to "disable" either of them. I guess you could unsubscribe from all your friends to avoid seeing any stories, but there's no kill switch, per se.
If you only want to use chat, you can go straight to messenger.com. I don't think there's a standalone solution for events, however.
I'd report it for intellectual property infringement and ask for it to be removed. I know it's not really what you want but at least they will probably remove it and you can create a new one (after a very long wait knowing facebook).

Use a VPN,(Preferably Nord or ExpressVPN the others get flagged easier) and New Browser. Or completely reinstall the old one (I dont fully suggest this cause of residual data please make sure to restart before using.). Do not log back in a previously used app. If your on phone use a 3rd party app that logs in Facebook. Stay on it for a few weeks then try again on the normal app. It will eventually forget your information over time ( You still have to wipe your cache and data). Its the only way circumvent. I've personally completed more then once. ( Srsly dont log into your new account before its time or it'll flag the entire thing as the old profile)

I suggest not using your old profile pictures but I have no proof it scans for that.
(Extra note even if you use a VPN DO NOT use the same browser you originally logged in on.)
I'd snag ProtonVPN to help with privacy and it's pretty cheap. Altho Idk how much it can help when you login to your main account. They know it's you and they'll still collect data from the account. But that's why I deleted my account and started running a VPN from the start of opening a new account.
That would make sense why it worked.
But I was able to recover my acc. The very first email you receive about password reset will say “your facebook password was changed on .....
If you didn’t do this, secure your account”
Look for the one that was done by IP address 45.133.4.31 (it’s ExpressVPN owned, can’t track it down)
And you click on secure your account to recover account and it lets you generate new password. I got back in my account with this. This option didn’t work for me from phone but it worked on my Mac. This also worked for my friend via Mac. I’m thinking it might be because Mac is our main used device to login Facebook and it detects it, or for some reason it’s only working on macs.
Yeah I'm also mad that I currently have a messenger only account (made with phone when that was possible), but now I need a FB account and I can't find any info or support on how to connect my existing messenger to newly created FB. I don't want to lose all my stuff lol.
Anyway, about the app data. You can't simply transfer data like that you need an app that can back it up. However most such apps require root, which in order to get you need to wipe the phone... quite paradoxical. The only app the worked for me in the past with older versions of android is helium. You can give it a try, but it will probably not work.
But if you find anything about your 3rd question, let me know please.
I setup a Facebook account yesterday. Today it's deleted. No idea why.
I previously had been using WhatsApp, so when I signed up for Facebook yesterday using my cell number it automatically recognized me and suggested a lot of people I know. Actually almost everyone I know, it was a bit eerie how much Facebook knew already.
I posted 1 photo of the beach as my cover, friended my wife and went to bed. This morning the message said my account is suspended for violation of the terms of use. I'm in Florida and have no idea what I did wrong.
I do have NordVPN installed, but I don't think it was active. Maybe it was?
The you're suspended screen had a button to request a review, so I clicked it and Facebook asked me to upload a photo showing my face, saying they would use it to verify my account somehow. So I did that. Then I got a message saying thank you but...
>We have fewer people available to review information due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This means we may be unable to review your account.
I tried clicking the Facebook contact form link in this thread but Facebook automatically recognized me and displayed a message "We received your information" and again that due to Covid-19 they may not be able to review my account.
Since my account was brand new, I wouldn't mind setting up a new one but Facebook automatically recognizes both my iPhone and laptop and won't let me even try.
If I try to delete their tracking-cookies (Facebook installed four cookies on my system) and change my IP address it will probably just cause more red flags. Plus, as mentioned, Facebook fully recognized me through my phone number which was tied to WhatsApp when I signed up and I already Friended my wife, so I doubt I'll get very far doing that.
Not sure what I can to do? Wait for them to (maybe never) review my account? It doesn't seem promising.
I had no idea they didn't allow VPN use but that makes sense since if you don't give facebook information they can sell your a useless user to them lol.
I use NordVPN and I was disabled for security reasons and was able to get back into my account when I gave my last 5 comments I made.
It happened shortly after I removed things like my cell-phone number and my location on my profile to make it more private with less information so I'm not sure what caused it to happen for me?
If you really want to get back on facebook, this is what you have to do.
Get a good Computer cleaner, like CClean. You'll have to buy it to clean out all browser history, all cookies, all flash cookies, stored settings. You need to clear flash settings becuase these are like supercookies for facebook. After that is done...
Get a VPN. I use NordVPN. Do not let it randomly select a location. Manually choose your location for consistency and to avoid facebook and amazon seeing this account traffic as originating from too many locations. They will flag this as suspicious, and force you to verify or close your account. So, chose a location and use that one for logging in.
After you have started your VPN, chosen your location, now you can sign up for a new email account, using your middle name, a different name, or a variation on the spelling of your name. Once that is done, use your new name and new email account to sign up for a new facebook account.
Write down the information, including account names and passowords, vpn used, and locations.
You can repeat this process and have standby accounts ready for when they block you again.
Xivilian Inyelligence Service.
Lol all these VPN companies such as NordVPN, AirVPN or Private VPN are jumping over their own heads to be trusted by their customers with not keeping any logs. But then these Onavo guys jump in thinking VPN business is a piece of cake and does the complete opposite to what VPN users would pick. "Just to be clear, we WILL collect your data and we WILL pass it to Facebook. Yes, the same one that in their ToS says that they WILL pass your information to other parties." Well done with protecting your users, Onavo!
Try logging out and back in, clearing your cache, etc. Also, I use the TunnelBear extension for Google Chrome. I just need to enable it (making sure I choose USA), refresh any Facebook page and the reaction appears. If I disable it and refresh the page, it's gone.
I've switched to SlimSocial app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.rignanese.leo.slimfacebook ) in combination with official Messenger app. Facebook app just made my phone slow. Not unusable but noticeably - like when trying to do some multitasking - browser, FB app and Messenger, copying links and photos from one to another or simply browsing... It's all much better without official FB app.
Sure, it's not the same, UI is different, not "animated", not that fancy... But in the end - i can actually do what i need. I can post, share, comment, public and send photos, tag people etc.
My phone is still not THAT bad, it's Moto G 1st gen. And still - FB app was the biggest app on my phone and it was the biggest battery eater. Another thing is - i've been in FB beta program for over a year and it's just ridiculous how they treat users and how they "make it better". For over a year and for like 30 big number versions - changes were cosmetical and there were so many errors and bugs... It's just not worth it.
BUT i understand that people with much better and faster phones may not feel the need for any alternative. On my wife's S5 Neo it's all flawless with official aps.
