That's definitely true. Here, have some statistics.
Roughly 40% of the world's energy comes from coal powered plants. If we replaced all of those with nuclear power plants we'd save about 1.4 million people per year and reduce our total CO2 output by about half.
There are however a few downsides to this. First of all, the tech needed for nuclear fuel production can also be used for nuclear weapons. Both require centrifuges or some other enrichment process. There are some nuclear reactors that use fuel that is very hard to turn into a nuke, but those are mostly theoretical. In addition nuclear power is more expensive than coal powered plants. So governments don't like it. And lastly, the coal mining industry is vehemently opposed for obvious reasons. So there's a lot of lobbying money against nuclear reactors, much like the lobbying money against CO2 regulations.
Erm, wat? Kernenergie is absurd betrouwbaar. Kernenergie is relatief goedkoop, werkt altijd, levert absurde hoeveelheden energie per kilo brandstof, is CO2 neutraal en is hartstikke veilig
We could look at the death rate per petawatt. Not to mention the fact that very little of our renewable energy sources are useful for baseload, except for CSP.
