It's 20$ on their website also. http://www.worldofgoo.com/ Don't know but my wild guess is WoG wants to compete on steam by lowering price - so it's probably because of (still) small competition on linux. I'm waiting for steam to come to ubuntu to buy games. There are rumors for next month...
World of Goo! I haven't seen many people mention it, maybe because it's a few years old, but it's arguably a classic indie puzzle game. Unique gameplay, beautiful graphics, and an amazing soundtrack. The whole game is just put together extremely well. The game has a significant length as well, it took me about 5 hours the first time I played it.
I'm pretty sure you are getting Flooded with PM's, but i love the graphics! It reminds me of a kind of mix between World of Goo and Fantastic Contraption.
It would mean alot to me if i could get to try a demo :)
Oh yeah, I deleted a few comments after I unsubscribed from/ragequit this subreddit. That had nothing do with you, though; you were quite pleasant to talk to.
By the way, something I wanted to ask you earlier: since you care a lot about which characters are represented in a game, have you ever considered writing a game of your own? Although creating a Call of Duty-clone is probably not feasible, there are things like the IFComp that are approachable to anyone who can write well and program just a little.
(I had the pleasure of working with 2D Boy* in the past and one of the things I took away from that experience is that if you aren't satisfied with the games the industry has to offer, it is a lot more effective to create one yourself that is up to your standards, rather than complain about existing games on the Internet.
* for context: these are two guys who quit their jobs at EA Games to work on a game idea of their own, because they were unsatisfied with the lack of innovation in terms of gameplay mechanics that EA allowed. Their game, World of Goo, was pretty successful for an indie game, and it showed that if you have just a few talented guys with a good idea, you can be very successful in the game market.)
We bought my 9yo nephew these for Christmas and he really loves them: http://maxandthemagicmarker.com/ http://www.worldofgoo.com/ - both are physics based so definitely call on his problem solving skills.
And the PopCap games are worth a look too - Bookworm is about spelling/making words so might be good.
