Zoiper https://www.zoiper.com/Works for Windows/Linux/Mac/Android/IOSYou can pay for commercial license that has Video Calling, Outlook Integration and Click to DialAlso supports TLS/SRTP/ZRTP for encrypted calling
If there isn't an android app that can make it work for you, you might have to use crouton and then follow the installation guide they made here: https://www.zoiper.com/en/documentation/linux-installation-and-configuration
Thanks that was totally my thought too, cable spaghetti.
OP, just tell your girlfriend to get discord on her phone and call you with that.
Also, if you want to get an actual phone on your PC, you could with something like Zoiper which is an IP softphone on your pc, but you would have to buy VoIP phone service for it through somebody like RingCentral. That would save a lot of cable spaghetti but subscription plans from RingCentral are around $20/month.
You could also use a SIP client like Zoiper - https://www.zoiper.com/en - and hook it up with per second (or per minute) calling from a company like VoIP.MS if you don't mind a little web configuration for a phone system. I personally use it and they've been great. (To clarify, they aren't related to our company.)
You can use it with pretty much any SIP client on your smartphone, PC or tablet. If you have an Android phone, the Play store has tons of SIP clients. I'm sure it's the same with Apple's App store.
I've used the free version of this one with voip.ms for years.
You can host your own PBX. And have a bunch of extra features, I use Freepbx. There is also the option to just get a sip provider and a basic sip softphone.
Check out flowroute.com and https://www.zoiper.com/ You can set them up directly and it is very reliable, however your calls will just end up lost if you dont have your PC on. You could add a simple cheap desk phone like the Sangoma S305 and have multiple lines and of course it would be on all the time.
I’m looking to make a very basic VOIP app (basic calling functionality) on android, but I don’t really have and VOIP experience. I’ve looked into using Zoiper but I can’t get their demo app to build for the life of me. Are there any good tutorials or resources out there I can use?
Heh... good luck! It's fun actually. I highly suggest going to VoIP.ms and sign up for a DID as well. That way you get an actual phone number on your phone system. For a client I use Zoiper on my desktop PC and also my cellphone (Android).
You can play with all kinds of stuff like automated attendants, voicemail and if you're feeling like having a bit of fun it's always cool to set up Lenny like I did. It has led to some really amusing calls to listen to when I'm bored.
When filling out paperwork or signing up for stuff I actually use my DID much more often than my cellphone number. Keeps the number of junk and spam calls on my cell to a minimum, then my DID has an automated attendant set up which filters out the robocalls.
I've never had a problem with Zoiper on iOS. maybe my iOS is broken.

Admittedly, my phone can't run the latest iOS, they may have fucked things up more.
