Where will you be staying? And what are you looking for in your vacation?
If you arrive in Amsterdam, leiden, Delft and Utrecht are great cities all only 30m away by train. Maastricht and Groningen are great but much further away. Non of them are exactly hidden gems though.
This app shows public transit very useful. You Give in 2 adresses (from and to) and it shows you the best route, by train, buses, Subway and trams etc. Here a thread with more info
Search /r/thenetherlands. Lots of posts there in english asking for tips and stuff with a lot of great answers.
For public transport ("OV" for short in Dutch - "openbaar vervoer"), download the app 9292 btw. It's the best app to find times for bus/metro/train/tram. You can set the app to English in the settings.
If you use public transportation to go to see amsterdam/anywhere besides going to the concert, consider getting an "ov chipkaart". If you've been to London, it's like the Oyster card. You "check in" (the machine will take money from your card) at the beginning of your trip and when you've arrived at the destination, you "check out" (if you the trip costs less than what the machine has initially taken from you, it'll restore you the difference). You can buy such a card directly at Schiphol (the airport) in the train station area (go to the information/ticket people). You'll need to put money on it at one of the machines (you might also be able to buy it with money it - I'm not sure). That should be pretty straightforward. You'll need a minimum of 20 euros on it to take the train and 4 euros on it to take the bus/tram/metro.
Also, the netherlands is big on debit cards, I'm genuinely unsure if you can pay with anything else than that at the train/tram/etc ticket machines.
It's gotta be a Google glitch. The bus stop for the opposite direction is just a few steps further up that street.
Use the app 9292, and plug in the address Hoeverweg 13, 1934 PK Egmond aan den Hoef. I see trips back to Alkmaar until almost midnight. I think they only go twice an hour, and once an hour after 7:52pm so plan accordingly.
Also, the app [OVinfo])https://play.google.com/store/search?q=ovinfo&c=apps&hl=en&gl=US) will grab your location and give you real time info about the public transport stops near you, especially the next bus/tram/Metro arrival.
Now, we know its 3rd party app problem. Need to test with multiple uninstall. I check every app and make a new list for you.

To add to this, the machine looks like this, and is inside the airport just in the arrivals waiting area.
I'd definitely recommend paying the 7,50 for the anonymous OV card, it will very quickly save you money after 2-3 bus journeys, and you can keep it for 5 years.
Use the app 9292 to get where you want to go with public transport, it's a little more efficient than google maps I find for providing public transport route options.
Someone else mentioned OV bike... I don't think you can get one of those without a personalized OV chip card. If you want to travel around the city (THE most ideal way to get around the city for sure) and you're only staying a couple days, you can rent a bike for 8 euros a day off these guys.
Do you happen to be half Filipino and/or have dual (European) citizenship? If yes, make sure to contact your university regarding the benefits for European students.
If the above answer is no, and you want to work while studying, you're only allowed to work a maximum of 16hrs/week on a student permit.
For the rest of the comment I'll just be writing down things randomly as it pops in my head which I think will be of any help.
I've been suggesting this to everyone that moves to another city/country/place. Walk/cycle around. Get to know your neighborhood, see what kind of people are around you, perhaps even say hi to your neighbors and introduce yourself. It's always best to know your way around early on.
Make sure to buy a good chain lock for your bike. It's however Amsterdam, your bike will get stolen eventually. So don't buy a fancy bike of a couple 100, unless you have it insured.
If you prefer public transportation, download the route planner apps 9292 android / iOS and GVB
The common fact in the Netherlands is about the use of bicycles, yes there really are a lot of bicycles. Considering you'll be living in the city center you'll definitely want to buy one. It's much easier to get around.
Right! Bike lanes! In the city, the bike lanes are separated from the sidewalk and roads. Don't walk on the bike lanes, unless you're crossing them. People will yell if you're walking in front of their bicycle.
One thing many non-Dutch people have mentioned is the "directness" of us. Dutch people tend to speak their honest opinion to the point where something can come over as rude. This might be something to get used to.
While we're direct, we're also very open. It's fairly easy to make friends with Dutch students. But as someone else mentioned, Amsterdam is very diverse. If you happen to feel out of place, there are countless of international students you might be able to connect with.
Joining a student association is also a great way to meet new students with the same interests as you.
Amsterdam is not a normal Dutch city due to the international nature of it and the massive amount of tourists. During your breaks or weekends you should definitely head over to the other cities.
During the summer a heat wave might occur for a week or two. Make sure to stay hydrated and/or buy a standing AC. ACs aren't really a think in most Dutch houses/apartments so it will become unbearable.
Might be well known, but worth a mention. Universities don't have uniforms, nor do you have to dress formal. If you are doing an office internship, business casual will be enough. Some are also fine with just a plain t-shirt.
Language, although the Netherland's primary language is Dutch. You don't have to learn it. It will be nice and respectful towards the host country, but Dutch isn't easy for most. You'll do fine with just English.
If you do put effort in wanting to learn the language. Inform the person you're talking to, if you don't he/she will automatically reply in English.
Healthcare, I won't go too deep into healthcare. Some Filipinos tend to want medication for every little illness they have. Even if it's nothing bad. If you have to visit a GP with a cold, fever, headache, or anything small. The GP will usually suggest to just rest and take a paracetamol. Which is perfectly normal. (Unless you show heavy symptoms indicating something worse).
Tap water is ok to drink.
Considering your father bought you an apartment in the city center, I assume you're quite well off as most Dutch people aren't even able to afford those. As with every other country, there are leechers. Use common sense for the people you hang out with.
Reading back I ended up writing down tips instead of helping you with any cultural differences... Sorry...
Here are some links from culture shocks of international students. Utrecht university
Just understand, having to get used to an entirely different culture is normal. Some people adjust fast, some need time. Just make sure to know who you can contact from your university in case you need help.
You could also head over to /r/thenetherlands and /r/Amsterdam for more information. If you're missing something from home, there are a couple Filipino stores & sites that sell imported stuff. If you have FB, join a Filipinos in Amsterdam support group.
You'll be fine. Have a great time and do your best in university. Feel free to PM if you have any specific questions. I lived in the Netherlands until I was 20.
Hi quick update.
The problem comes from one of this app in this list. I did uninstall them all per a redditor request in other thread and the problem is gone. One of them is the culprit.
Use this app for public transport to find your way in public transport: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.negentwee
