First time I took nal I felt zilch different.. First few weeks were arguably nothing but my imagination. It takes months man, but it really works but it takes time to retrain those neurons... they took years to get to where they were, it'll take a lot of repetition to condition them back out of that reward response cycle. Just like getting fit or any new habits, you don't workout one day and suddenly have big muscles ;)
I'd definitely keep an alcohol diary to track your progress, otherwise it's difficult to have any objective sense of it. Don't feel guilty about writing down all the drinks you're having, it's no problem as all as long as a) you took your pill and b) you're recording good data.
I use alcodroid, works very well for me, plots averages over months so I can really visualize my recovery to becoming an actual normal drinker. The habit of recording each drink also has the added benefit of turning you into a mindful drinker and not just downing them purely out of habit.
It's crazy, it used to take me an enormous amount of willpower to be able to stop after say two drinks.... and it would feel like someone just took a meal away from a starving man. These days I often just forget to have another drink after having two... it's amazing :). It took time though... patience and stay the course, we're playing the long game.
It bases its calculations on body weight and biological sex. You can also adjust the metabolic rate too, but the default works well enough for me. This is the app I use on Android.
I've actually been designing my own version of the app, since I have some quality of life quibbles with that one. The biggest is that I want to maintain a centralized drink database that contains default sizes, calories/oz, ABV, etc. Because entering your own is a little obnoxious for a craft beer drinker. Calories is a big one as well, because I think people would drink more consciously if they saw how many empty calories per month come from booze.
Like general_sam_houston said, you'll be fine. You could look into an BAC app for your phone too. I use AlcoDroid on Android after a long trip.
It's called AlcoDroid and it's free with some non-intrusive ads although you can also choose to pay a small amount to remove ads permanently, which I did. I am not affiliated in any way with the developer, I just really like the app and felt it deserved the support.
Here's the link to the app on the Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.M.alcodroid&hl=en_US
This is a good question and something I've been wondering about.
I took 2 years off drinking and just the other day had my first sips of beer.
I would like to enjoy the flavors/aromas/social aspect (I live in one of the biggest craft beer scenes in the US) without feeling the least bit tipsy or out of control.
It's tough to find advice about this, because you mostly have stuff like /r/stopdrinking and AA, which are like "I ruined my life with alcohol; I advise you don't even touch it".
I'll upvote your post here and hope for some good answers.
I will say, when I used to drink, apps like AlcoDroid helped me to cut down. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.M.alcodroid&hl=en
Good job!
Keep an alcohol tracker app to track your drinks, I found it very helpful to keep mindful and actually graph my progress. I used this app.
It'll take time so don't worry if you see on some days/weeks your drinking goes up a little, just keep tracking and keep steadfast, it's the average and the long game.
Ezt használtam: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.M.alcodroid Jó, mert utána összegzésképpen látod, hogy mennyi volt a fogyasztás (és a kedvenceket az elején feltöltöd utána csak ki kell választani.)

Sok kitartást a fejlesztéshez!
A couple of friends of mine used this app one night to do something similar. Might be worth to check it out for a second. The app is quite ugly and outdated though.
I use an app called alcodroid (android only) and it is very good.
Using it has helped me calm down the drinking quite a lot.

There will never be a place for that attitude in /r/cutdowndrinking. I mean that in a way where it won't be the overarching theme in the community. Everyone's different and I feel like those communities far too often (aggressively) preach a single view.

What was it about AlcoDroid that worked for you? I only ask because I am producing a web app, Cut Down, and am keen to bring even greater value to anyone wanting to cut down.
There also is a great app Alcodroid it keeps track of days and weeks and is very helpful when out at a bar to keep track of your approximate bac. It does the a similar graph of drinks per day, average per week/month, etc.
Thought I would share this. Details about the data:
And history about myself:
Edit: For comparison to the above numbers, I thought (after I'd already posted the above) to put in the same day values for 2017 and make a comparison (thick semi transparent orange line). Because at that time I was tracking purchasing much more consistently than intake I used a 4 day average for the line instead of daily values. (i.e. if I bought a bottle of whiskey on monday and drank half on monday and half on tuesday I put the whole thing on monday and 0 on tuesday.)

Előkotortam :)
