I agree with Dewey. If your kid doesn’t like exactly what you like, you’re not doing your job. Which is why my child will listen exclusively to this. If you want a Cardinals fan, you gotta make the Cardinals fan. Show them Cardinals footage exclusively. Brainwashing is easy.
All the games today feel like a bit of a footnote given what happened to Fernandez. This article in particular destroyed me.
Forewarning: the games are blacked out in the St. Louis viewing area. However, Unlocator is a good service for $5 a month that lets you get around that. First week is free to try with no credit card.
Give her a science encyclopedia. I read the shit out of it during my childhood. Covers pretty much everything a kid should know before high school
Look through it first, and when she asks a question, ask her if she looked it up yet. Good skill to learn anyways.
They do have an app: It's called MiLB First Pitch on the Google Play Store, and I assume the same for iPhones.
Once you sign in with your MiLB account, you can tap the headphones or TV icons in the top right to listen or watch
> Remember when LaRussa brought Lynn into a playoff game just to intentionally walk a guy?
WAT. That was a miscommunication due to an absurdly noisy ballpark - TLR never wanted Lynn in that situation. ESPN Article.
Hi again everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your new personalized wallpapers. I had a good time doing them all, honestly. If you've got the time and don't mind helping me out for a few seconds, I've created a little 5-question survey (don't run away!) to gauge interest in future endeavors of this nature. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to help me out!
Get in sleep wherever you can. Doesn't matter if it's 3 PM or 3 AM. Don't worry about messing up your sleep cycle, it's already boned anyway.
Try to get in at least 90 minutes per nap, but you won't shoot yourself in the foot if it's a shorter power nap.
Avoid caffeine today if you can, otherwise it'll be hard to fall asleep despite how tired you feel. It's pretty frustrating, and the frustration + stress doesn't make things easier. Pound as much caffeine as you want for the final stretch, though!
I used RainyMood to chill me out and block out any distracting noises.
Good call with the fruit and carbs. Keep those levels up!
Take a walk around the block every once in a while. It'll clear your head, which probably feels all dull and staticy right now.
Good luck!
Here's a chart I made comparing Yadi's aging curve to the normal catching curve, with a quick trendline formed for his career performance. I used data from here, a presentation by Dave Cameron from Fangraphs in 2013. Slide 8 is the data I pulled.
This isn't a super in-depth analysis, but it shows why paying Yadi a ridiculous amount is not a good idea. Even the best players are still human, and Yadi would be lucky to still be worth starting for any team by the end of 2019. We're talking about a guy who might be good for a total of 4 WAR over the rest of his career.
Under the assumption that 1 WAR is worth $7M, and considering that Yadi could probably be worth a roster spot for another 3 years, I would be very okay with giving him something in the range of 3 yrs, $40M. That is an overpay, almost guaranteed, but Yadi should be rewarded for what he has done for the organization. But Yadi wants to be the highest paid catcher in the game, according to Jen Langosch. That would be a $22M AAV contract to make more than Posey, who is at this point better than Molina in almost every regard...and would be a ridiculous amount for the FO to even consider.
If Yadi wants to stay on the Cardinals, he cannot demand to be the highest paid catcher in the game, it is as simple as that in my opinion.
I haven’t read The Cardinals Way but have heard good things.

I don't understand the point of this post.
Tony La Russa getting shingles is an example of him being "manic?"
His HoF cap doesn't change his credibility on the Kaepernick issue.
His shittiness in the Arizona FO doesn't change his credibility on the Kaepernick issue.
Random speculation that we'd be paying Matt Garza, Josh Beckett, Justin Upton, Jason Heyward and Albert Pujols 200 million is meaningless and doesn't add to anything.
TLR never said he would bench a Cardinal for that. You're literally just making things up:
> "No, he'd play the game, but he wouldn't be out there sitting down," La Russa said. "He'd go in the locker room and make his protest."
Jesus
Are there any sneaker heads in here? I really want these in either the Classic Burgundy or the Black, but I can't find them anywhere.
I used one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AAATFBO My dog went nuts when other dogs would get near so i could get close up and grab the short leash to keep her handled better and then still could let her be further out otherwise. I think the one I had was 7 or 8ft.
I have this one and I love it.

None of the free ones are reliable or fast enough for anything significant. A lot of the free ones cannot or will not guarantee they clear their server logs daily, and that info is subject to subpoena. Some will plain not work ... certain sites or downloading software.
I use Private Internet Access, which is actually very affordable, but has the nice added benefit that their website also accepts full and partial gift cards for Nationwide retailers like Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and Best Buy, and you can convert those into months of coverage with the service
Sure, a small one though. Nothing compared to Jones. Check out the ESPN article on the events, Jones is absolutely a pivotal character in the story, much more than Hunt, or really any owner aside from Kroenke himself.
Not saying I agree or even see the logic, but just plainly answering your question.
Edit: I guess their logic is, he's a young kid, harness his attention into baseball and nothing but baseball then let him be eccentric and goofy and all that. I assume if he were going steady with no bad blips and a 2.4 ERA there wouldnt be a peep.
Fangraphs audio is the best way to stay informed about a lot of what Fangraphs is writing about. Effectively Wild is kind of hit or miss for me but they have an episode every day, so if you're looking for something recent, that's always there. Here's a link to a website that has those two and a few other ones and aggregates them all to one page. Nothing about the Cards though, unfortunately.
It was very wrong (and illegal) for some Cardinals FO JO to walk through the screen door held shut but a single neon-green band-aid that is the Astro's "Super Secret Team Database" that was publicly accessible via the internet. (???) It's probably been waltzed into 1000 times before anyone related to the Cardinals ever tried. (U:administrator P: 12345)
Not all facts are known yet. Who? How many? What exactly was done once access was obtained?
People who hate the Cardinals for petty reasons (dur BFIB!) will latch onto this and run it into the ground. If they think this is the sole reason for our recent success, they'll expose themselves for the petty haters they are.
Most see it for what it was, a relatively minor infraction that should be dealt with accordingly. Fire the nimrod(s), apologize, pay a fine.
The media's job is grabbing eyeballs, so no matter what the facts are, the story will be TMZ'd to the fullest extent for no other reason than "if it bleeds, it leads." Read many sources to obtains the actual facts.
The team will (and should) just keep their head down & keep winning ballgames. They're ballplayers, not 3l1t3 h4x0rz. I'm not worried about them.

Remain calm, use LastPass, and 2-factor authentication, this too shall pass, enjoy a nice salad today and, never forget...
So here's the thing folks, a VPN (I use NordVPN, I don't advocate any specific one just saying that one works for me) and that also lets me get to more ABC non-disney content on Disney+ and all the international crap on netflix and other stuff. For like 10/mo. It still works with so you can get all your in-market games that way, plus the ESPN games and whatnot too.
For less money. It says $23/mo is the target price which TBH isn't that bad, it's only double most services and 10 bucks more than most are paying for the actual premium streamers so I dunno, go for it if you don't want a more versatile solution. I don't live in market for STL games so I don't really care, but I do like using a VPN to connect to stuff. The one I use lets you segregate its access to specific browsers if you want so you can say "chrome is my streaming browser" and use firefox or something else for the rest of your stuff and it won't route your other stuff over a VPN while you watch a game on one. It's pretty handy, and cheap. Plus when there's some "X is on netflix but not in the US" you can just set yourself to being in Canada or Japan or whatever and boom you can watch whatever it is they're watching in Canada. (weird that the companies do geolocation rather than just billing address but who am I to complain since it means I can watch LOST on Disney+ so fuck 'em).
That sounds awesome. I stream on Twitch with a two mic setup on my Focusrite 2i2 (so, the bare minimum multi-track setup). OBS picks up my interface just fine. So what I'd do is run a couple XLRs from the outputs of your band's mixer into a two track USB interface. Set levels on the board like normal, and make sure you're not peaking on the OBS side.
Alternatively, if you don't want to buy an interface, I used to record soundboard audio by running an XLR from the mixer into a passive direct box, which then ran into my laptop's microphone jack. OBS should be able to use that, as well. It's been years since I tried the passive direct box route, though.
Dunno if any of that is helpful, but that's where I'd start.
received those TOZO wireless earbuds I bought on prime day. They have totally blown away my expectations for $23 earbuds, wow super impressed. 😃
this website is helpful. Personally, I use ProtonVPN because it also comes with a secure email service but once again it mostly comes down to personal choice. /r/VPN is a decent option to learn about this stuff too. Idk but I’ve just been taking my privacy seriously lately since I just kind of want to be prepared for the worst case scenario.
It bases its calculations on body weight and biological sex. You can also adjust the metabolic rate too, but the default works well enough for me. This is the app I use on Android.
I've actually been designing my own version of the app, since I have some quality of life quibbles with that one. The biggest is that I want to maintain a centralized drink database that contains default sizes, calories/oz, ABV, etc. Because entering your own is a little obnoxious for a craft beer drinker. Calories is a big one as well, because I think people would drink more consciously if they saw how many empty calories per month come from booze.
I use Private Internet Access which is $40/yr. Very easy to set up. You just download a small executable and you're good to go. There are free VPNs however this one is logless which is good for anonymity if you care about that.
For using it, I'd connect to the Toronto server, then open in my browser. Start the game, and when the video starts playing, you can disconnect the VPN if you want. Just don't refresh the page or else it'll think you're still blacked out.
Depending on where you live, you might get a different FS regional station. I get FSSW.
If you have , use a VPN to watch the games. It's what I do. I use frostvpn because it's cheap, but I've also used Private Internet Access with good results. If you want to watch on your TV via a PS4 or Roku, check out
I used privateinternetaccess during the 2013 season and unlocator during the 2015 season, both without issue. Unlocator was offline for one evening game in august is the only problem I can recall with either one.
As long as all of your household devices are behind the VPN it shouldn't matter whether you're watching on pc/ps3/iphone/roku/whatever. Easiest way to set this up is to just be connected to the VPN at the router level. I've used the Ipad, Roku, PC, and android apps without problems, and I doubt the console apps are somehow special.

Hey guys, FYI, Dan is with Rooney on the radio!
I'm streaming on this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.toddbrady.proBaseballRadio
The only trick is pausing the radio audio until the TV broadcast catches up, but the app I linked makes it easy. Other apps I've found make you listen to an ad everytime you unpause it making it unusable.
I use the sound of the ball popping into the glove as my guide to sync, seems to work the best.
My friend got me this for Christmas after we took a sorta religious studies class together
I'll never understand why people with access to internet devices ask questions like this that they can find out for themselves.

I just found this phone app, and it seems to work for free for local stations. My local Cards affiliate (and Cubs affiliate) is on it.
EDIT: The game broadcast has started, and the stream went silent. I guess that it's blacked out.

Best I have is the WebMD entry that says:
> Rehabilitation from Tommy John surgery usually takes about a year. In some cases, up to 2 years are needed for athletes to return to their previous level of ability.
Also the National Athletic Trainers Association says that:
> Complete recovery can take anywhere from 18 to 24 months.
The pricing is awesome, it's stupid cheap. The plan I described is the "Core Slim" package and is only $35/month.
It beats cable and makes it it's whipping boy.

I was playing with Akinator and my character was "Dexter Fowler."
It asked if he was a Power Ranger... I stopped, thought about it, and put "probably" because you never really know. Akinator got it right, so I've headcannoned that Dexter is actually a Power Ranger.
I bought a lesser version if this during a prime sale and I absolutely love it. Imagine this is even better.
You like Nic Cage right? And a big fan of National Treasure?
Neither require a hub. You just have to use the app to connect them to wifi.
I just found an old paperback book, the script of a Broadway play, being offered on Amazon for $3340.31.
Little bit pricey.
I got these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QV7V1TZ back before gyms closed so I only used them for about 2 weeks, but they are probably the same and I really like them. Good even volume and the battery life because the case charges them is crazy.
/u/Detective_Dietrich is right, lineup order doesn’t matter much. Tom Tango (MLB’s senior data architect) did an analysis of this in 2006, detailed in The Book.
It’s been a couple years since I’ve read it, but I believe the difference between an optimal lineup and the absolute worst lineup ended up being a couple wins (2-3 max). Since MLB lineups are generally decently constructed, the difference between the worst MLB lineups and an optimal lineup ends up being less than a win per season
hey sorry i missed this earlier :/
oh i think your Grandpa would really enjoy this! :) but yeah, as u/BOUND2_subbie mentioned, there is nothing out that can really be compared to this at the moment. The perhaps easiest/cheapest way to get going would be to get it on either Xbox One or the upcoming Xbox Series X (this holiday season) and just plug in play on his TV and go. You can also get flight accessories for the Xbox too. and Microsoft is great about accessibility so plenty of options in-game and they also have the Adaptive Controller. And setting up a Xbox is really easy and straight forward these days. (he could also also use it as an excuse to upgrade his TV to 4K?)
But if you think he'll want to add mods, or have a wider selection of accessories/flight sticks supported (or just get more use out of a PC) - then the PC version might be the way to go. But a solid gaming rig will be more expensive than an Xbox setup. I hope he gets to play and enjoys it!
It's called Smoke Free. You can get it here:

If you're comfortable spending more money on top of an subscription, a VPN like Private Internet Access will fool the website into thinking that you're watching from outside the black out area. Despite sounding complicated, it's actually very easy to use. It only works on your computer, though, since the apps on your phone use GPS location.
That mostly depends on your company’s policy in regards to what you can and can’t do with your internet. The vpn service you get will have instructions on how to configure your computer’s network connection so you can use it without actually applying the vpn settings to the router/modem/however your work does its network. So if you work at a more relaxed company, shouldn’t be a problem. I work at a bank so this is not remotely possible.
Also, if your work won’t let you change your settings but has WiFi and you can connect your phone to it, as I previously mentioned the vpn I use (IPVanish) has an iPhone app that can work around this if you go the mlbtv app route.
I use Private Internet Access which is a paid service ($40/yr). It encrypts all of your internet traffic which is useful when you connect to unsecured networks, like in hotels or cafes. For that one, you just download their simple program.
I looked at but there are occasional blackouts. Not sure why exactly. Also you can't pause or watch the game later. Supposedly you will be able to use your Sling account to authenticate a FOx Sports:Go account.
We currently use plus Unlocator to hide our DNS and so far it works flawlessly. This our second year using it. The Unlocator is 5-6 dollars a month but we got a discount by purchasing the whole season up front. We can pause, advance by inning and watch any archived game. You get the added bonus of still being able to watch any other game being played anywhere.
I honestly don't remember why I got rid of PIA. It appears they do have proxy and that would work for blackouts. Unlocator uses a smart DNS, the benefit of that is you can set it at router level rather than changing your proxy address on your PC. Also if you use a ps4 or Xbox one to watch they don't support authenticated proxy or VPN connections.
Me too. A little late for this time, but if it is on again, or if you want to buy a subscription to (like me) you can do this: download a program called Netshade and install it. When you open it, sign up for the free 10 day trial with a disposable email (I use ) use it to set a proxy location, it's just a button (I almost always use their Canadian server) this will let you watch all the games, including the nationally blacked out ones. When the ten day trial is up, completely uninstall it using terminal (they have instructions on their website) and reinstall it again to get another 10 day free trial. I've been doing this, and have been happily watching the Cards in Oklahoma all season. Hope this helps for future games.
Find an international proxy (use a browser where you've cleared your cache and cookes). Turn on the proxy using something like FoxyProxy. Got to (yes, this will be slow). Launch the player. Select "Watch Now." Wait. Wait. Log into your account. Wait for it to check your location and such. Once you get through all that and have the spinning dots that indicate it's loading the actual video, turn off the proxy.
Ta da, postseason baseball.

It's exciting and educational. You'll very quickly know and appreciate so much more about the game (and the Cardinals!).
I bought this spaceship for tiny apartment, not dog reasons, but something like that or a top-entry litterbox is what I've heard works best.
i think im at the point in adulthood where the most random shit i find awesome. had a buddy mention that to me earlier when i was talking about this new water jug i got
i try to drink a ton of water each day and idk why i always drink like 75% of the bottle, forget about it, it get luke warm, and then just go get a new one...NOW i have this thing that keeps it cold for days!
haven't tried the fitness app yet. hmm. maybe tonight.
one thing i did have to purchase though was this
the rubber "bands" that come with it are similar to the ones on fitbit and they would irritate my wrist all the time. this one is super comfortable
I use Speedify because I got it on sale years ago and I keep renewing at that rate. It serves its purpose of spoofing location whenever needed. It's probably not the best. I'd try out the free trials for all of them and see what fits your needs
It's well worth keeping something like https://www.amazon.com/Imazing-Portable-Car-Jump-Starter/dp/B07T49JQBR?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A3GO2Z46Z1W2KH
in your trunk. After initially charging it then all you gotta do is check the charge like once a month to make sure it has kept its charge.
i just clamped one of the lights i used as lathe work lights in my shop to my desk as a lamp, and this thing is perfect. it dims enough to work in the middle of the night and you can adjust the color temp, too, so you can yellow it up to be easier on your eyes.
also, if you find you're into it at all, consider getting a cheap flightstick as it makes a HUGE difference. You've probably seen how crazy people can go with this stuff (and how expensive some of them are!), but just something pretty basic like this is big jump in the game's feeling and ease of control (and are completely customizable in game).
Before last year, I always used Unlocator with tremendous success. Last year it didn't work more than a handful of times. I popped in a free trial for this year and Unlocator seems to be working again. They have a 50% off lifetime offer, so if it works I might just have to stick with it.
This is what I do since I'm in WI and therefore blacked out every time we play the Brewers. I've used PIA (Private Internet Access) for $35/year for the last 5+ years running with no issues. Normally I'll just connect via their Houston endpoint. For Sunday night games, I have to go international to be able to get the ESPN stream.
You have to use a regular computer as your source, because the Android and iOS apps use your GPS location normally.
> So if I paid for , I could use a VPN on my phone to get around the blackout?
I've been able to do so on my Android phones for the past 7 years. That said, the MLB app gets updated regularly and there's no guarantee that VPNs will work with the app forever. Computers/laptops are a safe bet, though.
> Do you have a recommendation on VPNs?
I've been using Private Internet Access. I think it's something like $40 a year. That might be tough to stomach on top of the cost of , but it's cheaper than cable.
> Would this still be considered a legal way to stream games?
It lies somewhere in the grey area between Definitely Illegal (pirate streams) and Totally Squeaky Clean. MLB is not going to come after you for using a VPN, and your ISP will have no idea that you're even watching baseball (since VPNs effectively hide your internet traffic).
Random question… anyone here know about mechanical keyboards? I’m having some serious shoulder pain the last several days. Been working from home and I think it’s time to take ergonomics into consideration more than I ever have. I’m going to purchase one of those Kensington Expert Trackballs and I’m seriously interested in getting a split ergonomic mechanical keyboard as well but I’m completely out of my depth.
I found this keyboard from Cloud Nine, and it looks like it’ll fit my needs. I did some poking around on r/MechanicalKeyboards though, and saw some posts saying there are more ergonomic options available than that one for this price range. All of their suggestions however are DIY builds where you start from a PCB and build it up. I get having it fully customizable, but I don’t have the time or interest in building a keyboard from scratch.
What’s more, looking at the way the conversations go in the comments, it doesn’t exactly seem like an inviting community, so I don’t know if I’ll get any help over there.
If anyone could give me a hand, I’d appreciate it.
Oh, and Go Birds… fuck the Cubes. And for that matter… fuck the Doyers too.

St. Louis City Center Hotel seems like it's about $76 per night. Is that in your wheelhouse?
Alternatively, you could check out AirBnB or Couchsurfing to see if there are places in and around the area for you to stay. A good spot might be Soulard, as many of the bars in that area (Hammersmiths, Jonie's Pizza, etc.) offer shuttle service to and from the stadium. That might be an option, too.
EDIT: Just checked AirBnB. There might be some options for you there:

Order unlocator for six months, follow instructions for setting up on a Roku, watch games
Works great for my AppleTV watching MLB.TV. Will work on some devices better than others. The set up guides on their website are detailed and helpful. There's also a free 7-day trial that I used to make sure it all worked. I'm quite happy with the service thus far.
Derrick Goold’s 100 Things a Cardinals Fan should know book is a pretty good place to start, short blurbs that really give some detail. It’s available on Kindle as well as paperback I believe. Not a video but you’ll likely get insight and information you really wouldn’t find elsewhere.
I'm sure that you can connect the VPN directly to your router to hide all of your activity. I started using ExpressVPN and it gives you step-by-step ways of implementing it. Plus, there's always YouTube. The shitty thing I've discovered is that I also need to have an Xbox Live account to use the MLBtv app on the console. And my laptop is my company's, so I can't install on there. So I'm going to have to do the same thing to my router once the season starts if I want to watch it on TV. Until then, it works on my phone.

We couldn’t find another streaming service with FSMW (fuck you Sinclair). I had previously used Unlocator with MLBTV but we eventually got busted (not sure how). We love baseball but have no use for cable so we considered just skipping it entirely this year. We ended up using the in-laws credentials for Fox Sports Go (which is a crap app). Do you have parents or friends with satellite or cable who don’t care about streaming/baseball?
Then again, this guy is a plug-in player that's only $24.
Amazon actually has some really cute clothing MLB St. Louis Cardinals Boys Infant My Team Onesie 3-Piece Set, White, Newborn 0-3 Months https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PVUJY74/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_VeDCwbB3W531B
I got a deal with Speedify years ago and they keep renewing at that same price so it's like $3/year for me. It's alright. They're pretty good at the security aspect of it all with a simple ui. Netflix is able to detect it so you have to turn it off if you're gonna watch it. Mostly everything else is fine. I watch blacked out games with it no problem. Expect a cut in speed (70mbps normal vs 20 mbps with VPN on)
I live in Texas and they blackout a lot of games for really odd reasons. Games in Colorado, Houston, and Ranger games by default, and some California games, like San Fransisco always get BO's. It def. sucks being right in the middle of markets. I personally have a VPN that I connect to either west coast or east coast servers depending on which works on a given day. VPNs aren't a bad idea in general nowadays plus I get to stay mostly legit. I personally use Private Internet Access and have for years, but there are a number of good ones. Just make sure and research your choices because not all companies are equally honest.
Wifi 6 (802.11ax) is starting to becoming mainstream (successor to 802.11ac) so I'd recommend that tbh if you want some future proofing. Some cell phones/laptops already come with those wifi chips, and more will probably come out later this year
Here's one under $100: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Wireless-AX1500-Wifi-Router/dp/B07ZSDR49S
FWIW I just got this router a few days ago and have had good results. It has the newest protocol of wifi (wifi 6) and I got a good open box deal on Amazon warehouse.
It is a war Board Game with cute little critters fighting for control of the forest.
The "gimmick" of the game is that each faction plays in a completely different way. Everyone is trying to get Victory Points, but everyone does it differently. Each faction is extremely to learn, but it can seem complicated because there are so many different factions.
Here is the BGG review of it. The most recent printing just came out and I had been searching for the game for a year before I finally got it. Amazon finally has it in stock again for under $100.
I use Private Internet Access to watch baseball on my Android phone and PC. Tbh I mostly tried them because they reviewed well at the time and their Linux support is good. I've been happy with them for the past few seasons
