Oh yeah! There have been more and more synthwave shows in the area, and it's been fantastic. In the last few years we've seen The Midnight, Dance with the Dead (many times), Pertubator (a few times), Gost (a few times), Magic Sword, Carpenter Brut, FM84, and others that are slipping my mind. There's a venue in LA called Union, and they've been hosting a number of artists, as well as a venue in San Diego called Brick by Brick (they mostly put on metal shows, but recently they've had Pertubator, and Dance with the Dead (a number of times), hopefully they continue the trend!).
Grab the app Bands in Town and follow your favorite artists, it's a really great app. I assume there are probably resources on Facebook for shows in the area if you're a Facebook user. Mailing lists have actually been quite handy for getting informed of shows too.
Good luck!
Input all your favourite artists, and get notifications when they announce tours that include venues near you. Also lets you see what your friends are following, and suggestions based on your current tastes.
Check house of blues. And get this bandsintown app you can set your music preferences and it will alert you to shows. My ex was a big time rock girl.

I also made an app using their API. Never published it as it was just a learning project.
Bandsintown is the app I use for concerts. It tracks and keeps you up to date on ask your favorite bands and artists and let's you know when they'll be in town.

This app works pretty well for me
Bands in Town and Songkick are both good options for this.

I've used them both over the years but recently switched back to Songkick in order to avoid some of the social networking type bits which seem to be taking over Bands in Town. They're both worth a try.
I use an app called BandsInTown on Android. Works pretty well, but relies on you "following" the bands/artists you are interested in.
On a similar note, if you want a peek at what bands are playing in your area, I recommend BandsinTown.
Jeg kan anbefale Bands in Town.
