as long as you only fill them right before an weather event and make sure they are keeped clean (from mold after being empty) I think it's a good idea. I like this jug more because it's clear and I can see if mold occurs
> A summer parade is a logical and fun bridge from one Mardi Gras season to the next.”
Logical? Bullshit.
The hottest day of the year, by average, is July 14 and you want to have a parade two weeks later when the temperature is the same?
Bridging:
Fuck that. Waiting for Mardi Gras to come around each year is part of the fun. When you start using that excuse, you sound like you don't sound like you're from here. We don't want Mardi Gras all year long. It's special because it's a yearly event.
This will be the first September in 4 years that we have a day where the high doesnt hit 80 degrees.
Going back 10 years, we see a sub-80 high in 5 Septembers. We see multiple sub-80 highs in 2. And only in 2016 have we had consecutive days with sub-80 highs.
So this is relatively rare, and exciting. I hope its a sign of a colder fall/winter and not a random fluke like that one time in August where we randomly had a high in the 70s.
Bird by Bird in the back of Molly's, on Decatur. FINALLY some inexpensive, delicious Indian food. The portions were fairly generous too. I had lamb curry, chana masala, and some naan for $13 ($13 was the most expensive thing on the menu too) and I could have easily made 2 meals out of it.
Start documenting it all and posting it on blast either on IG or a website (or both). In the past I had a previous free wordpress.com site that I used to document all the trash issues in my former uptown neighborhood. I'd email links to my councilperson and CC lots of Tulane admins as well. It ended up getting attention and some of the issues at the time did get resolved.
CHARGE EVERYTHING. I mean EVERYTHING. You never know what you’re going to need or want when the power goes out, or what can be potentially useful.
If you have power banks, DEFINITELY charge those. Larger ones can take up to a full 24 hours to charge especially if you’re using older charging cables. If you don’t have a power bank, get one. Invest in the best one you can afford; $50 will get you a good one. Used sparingly, 26800mAh can last an incredibly long time. I got this one to take along while traveling and the charge lasts forever.
If shit goes down, Internet is gonna be one of the first things to go. Keep in mind that you can use most smartphones as mobile hotspots, provided cellular service is still alright. Y’know, if you need to email claim forms or something to your insurance agent. <cough>
Edited to add: Have plenty of spare charging cables. Those fuckers will stop working suddenly with no good reason.
To echo what others have said, tell local newscasters to fuck off. NOAA is accessible online but also via a handful of apps for smartphones and tablets. I really like Hurricane Tracker by EZ Apps. Also, sign up for NOLA Ready text alerts. Text your zip code to 888777 or go to ready.nola.gov/alerts. An emergency/weather radio comes in handy as well.
None of these were options in the Katrina era. I do not take them for granted now.
Also, don’t get drunk/high/whatever. You may need to think critically, quickly, and it’s not worth risking your life just so you could have a HURRICATION HUHUHUH. Have one to take the edge off but stay in check.
Setting aside how stupid this proposal is, I think it's a bigger concern to worry about the false premise that it is based on. Namely, that the city can provide the infrastructure and staff to monitor such a system effectively. Not only is it incredibly onerous to maintain and store the amount of data generated by these cameras, but there is another concern that staff will simply not be effective at monitoring them. Is NOPD going to be able to respond in real time? Track record suggest no. How many people are going to need to be hired to comb through crime footage after a report has been made? What about bandwidth costs? What about the cost of installing Gigabit connections to each camera?
Using a quick google calculation to estimate storage requirements for 1700 cameras that stream 24hrs/day, 7 days a week and store data for 30 days, and relying on AWS storage estimates, the MONTHLY cost of storage will be $37,800 ($500,000/yr). This is assuming there are no other fees associated with data storage.
Keep in mind, this doesn't include the staffing budget, the maintenance fees, or the equipment fees for the cabling, switches, routers, and internet services. Nor does this include software licensing fees for the surveillance system.
Post it in the Mid City or nearby area Nextdoor. It's more eyes on the lookout out though I truly hate many of the people on that site.
Also, if you haven't already, check with all of your neighbors on your block to see if they have any external cameras facing the street. Then, also check with ProjectNOLA for possible cameras in the area.
Serious answer: Nobody knows.
There's a book about the song (https://www.amazon.com/Chasing-Rising-Sun-Journey-American/dp/0743278984) if you're interested. I never read it, but I guess he attempts to trace the history and determines there was a hotel here by that name, but nobody knows if the song is really related.
Some people, including the folklorist Alan Lomax who made some of the earliest recordings of the song, thought the name might have come from old English songs (https://www.thevintagenews.com/2017/01/21/the-original-song-the-house-of-the-rising-sun-is-older-than-new-orleans/) that use Rising Sun to mean a similar kind of establishment. It doesn't obviously sound salacious now, but I bet people in the 1800s would be equally mystified at how we know from the names that "Penthouse Club" and "Stiletto's" are places where women take off their clothes for money.
Obviously there has always been drinking and prostitution here, so it is quite possible that somebody decided to write a blues song about a brothel, picked a name for the place that sounded reasonable at the time and placed it in New Orleans.
WiFi dashcams range from $40 and up on Amazon. I picked up an Anker Roav C1 for $69 a couple weeks ago for this precise reason. Easy to install and works well enough.
I've already signed up for Airbnb disaster relief... I've never had anyone take me up on the offer though. :/
The thing is you can only stay in places that are not booked yet... and it being mardi gras makes that tough...
I am curious though to know if airbnb would wave the penalities for host canceling on guest to help victims. (Its $100+ and a relocation fee + potential loss of listing.)
If you need a place here are host that have offered up available dates for free.
As a native floridian who seen them for 30 years, if you have time and the resources sheetmetal roofing panels work great to protect windows. They can be held in by concrete tapcons. Don't open any doors while it's happening unless you want your roof to blow off.
Also, this is a team effort, if you have resources to offer to someone please do. Don't be selfish, because other people can suffer far worse than you. Water, gas, food w/e you can think of. Don't forget about those people who traveled across states to help. If they are willing to help you, help others who need it too.
Levees prevent silt from the Mississippi from spreading across the delta. Instead, it all just gets dumped off a cliff into the gulf. Or something like that. This page seems to sum it up pretty well.
Bayou Farewell: The Rich Life and Tragic Death of Louisiana's Cajun Coast is a beautifully depressing book and at 15 years old, likely contains dated optimism. Still worth a read.
Nice find. I'm still waiting to see one trying the extra large trash bag approach. Example: https://www.amazon.com/EVP-Extreme-Vehicle-Protection-Cover/dp/B07FCXLJPP/
This app Tunity might help. It scans the TV for what channel it is on then plays the audio over your phone. Great for anywhere you can see, but not hear a TV. You can use headphones with it to make it the most effective.
You can buy knockoff uniforms online:
https://www.amazon.com/PANZHIHUA-Durable-Shirts-Travel-Collar/dp/B07WLVV56W
I'd wait to hear back from ADT and if you have cameras let the police know.
For one you're patronizing the same company right now by using Reddit. About 3.7 million people visit nola.com on an average month so even if everyone on this subreddit never used nola.com we wouldn't even put a dent in it.
I had one like this. I used to use it to heat my bedroom on cold nights. I noticed I had a headache in the morning sometimes. I NEVER get headaches. the heater was producing low low levels of carbon monoxide. instead of spending over $100 for dubious plumper. ( i guarantee a legit insured plumber will walk away from this job) get a SUPER SAFE electric space heater. we have a couple of these and love the safety features. the rooms it goes in stay very warm. be safe.
The heater is best for us when we set the ceiling fan in reverse and keep it on low. The warm air moves down nicely
There is hope!!!!
I’m a super sweaty person and bike to work every day of the week (no car). I bought dry fit everything (underwear, shirts, shorts). I wear dry fit when biking and keep my work clothes in a backpack. I change when I get to work.
Using dry fit clothes decreased the amount I sweat almost instantly. I used to have to bring a towel with me to work because I was wearing cotton while biking. When I switched I rarely had to wipe down.
However, it always helps to have some deodorant at work (I have a desk). If it’s really hot out (basically all of June, July, and August) I bring a small towel with me sometimes just in case I need to wipe down some.
The dry fit did really improve everything though. I used to bring a change of underwear during the summer, but the dry fit kind I have now is way more breathable. That sounds ridiculous, but otherwise I just felt gross all day.
Don’t know if you’re a guy or not, but if so, Champion has awesome dry fit clothes that are cheaper than Under Armor’s. These are the one’s I bought. I bought mine at Target in Metairie, but Amazon should work too.
bruh the weather app said 30% chance of rain after 3pm. better to drop a few dollars on uber and a safe parking spot for a few days then to get hit if this shit repeats itself tomorrow or the next day or the next day or the next day. grounds going to be hella saturated from today so dont expect the little green spaces we have in the city to help soak the rain up for the rest of the week https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/USLA0338:1:US
weather channel has us being rainy af for like 8 out of the next 10 days.
Technically you could ask if the creator had a CAD file for it and then upload it into Studio (LEGO CAD) and it would tell you every single exact piece you need to make it. It would also probably cost $$$ orr $$$$.
I am a northerner of german extract so understand the NOLA laziness thing completely and grew up with MN competence expectations but that doesnt apply to NOLA, never has. NOLA is unique in all the world and good governance has never been the cities strong point. The point I dont get is why the OPer is posting such crap. The homicide rate is half that of 40 years ago. https://www.npr.org/2015/08/11/431234794/new-orleans-overall-crime-rate-has-fallen-why-are-people-so-frustrated maybe a post celebrating progress would be more honest. NOLA schools have indeed made progress which is easy to google. I hate to defend the town coming from my background but NOLA certainly making progress.
2,000 jobs announced 20 minutes ago. http://www.nola.com/business/index.ssf/2017/11/software_company_new_orleans_m.html
New Orleans, St. Michael, Barbados Only other instance I know of.
Someone recommended it last month... But it was late in the month, and this place deserves some visibility.
Bird by Bird in the back of Molly's on Decatur serves great Indian food, very easily the best in the city or metro area. Delicious curry (esp. the rogan josh) and home-made naan, plus you get a huge serving. The dude is also really nice.
I'm as far away from a vegetarian as you can get, but I think it'd also be a good spot for those people, too, as about half the menu is vegetarian friendly.
Take a look HERE. A storm is gonna hit this weekend, we're just not sure how big its gonna be. It could pass by with moderate rainfall, or it could roll right over us and pour for the whole weekend, causing major flooding. Its up to you bruh.
Domain's registered to an "Adam Mitchell". Found this LinkedIn account.
Not sure if this has been a marketing stunt to sell shirts from the beginning, or if it just caught on and he decided to cash in.
Considering his LinkedIn bio says:
> Highly successful corporate brand manager and viral marketer with an understanding of how social media can build brand enthusiasts, plus a proven talent at launching powerful corporate identities that transform the core and focus of a company's directives.
I'm leaning towards the former.
Not really. Typically your best reference is something like http://www.indeed.com/salary
This is only sourcing data off of people who sign up for their service. Indeed and Glassdoor typically pull a much more accurate representation.
For instance:
Software Engineer show as averaging $91,000 a year in New Orleans.
I think its boring if you never get past the New Orleans landmarks.
I find Treme a remarkable work, better than The Wire, on illustrating the current state of American society. The social impact of economics, education, commoditization of industry, culture and the point of living/lifestyle is what Treme is really about. New Orleans is just background.
The kitchen-Bourdain storyline in season 3 is too much for me, but everything else is wonderful. What other drama is out there like Treme that doesn't insult the viewer's intelligence?
I love the bayou nachos at Munch Factory. They're roast beef topped rather than ground beef.
After eating about an 8th of shrooms one time I settled down and watched "No Reservations" on TV. Anthony was in Tuscany and in my hallucinatory state I was entranced at how beautiful the Italian countryside was. However, for me the highlight of the episode was when Anthony decided to cook Italian food for some of his Italian guests and they agree that it is some of the worst cooking ever. I never forgot how hilarious it was.
So conversely, for some of his worst work you can find the scene here . Skip ahead to about 10 minutes for his cooking and the Italian reaction to his food.
You're going to need a tuxedo - typically a ball is black tie - and a fantastic mask. You can rent a tuxedo from Men's Wearhouse or a local equivalent. They'll let you know everything you need. You can even rent dress shoes if you need them.
If you've ever had the desire to go all out fancy, now is the time. Want tails on your coat? Get them. Want a crazy colored vest or cummerbund? Do it. Get yourself some fantastical cufflinks and you're good to go.
This guy is a local mask maker and I believe he can also be found at the Frenchman Art Market. Many of his designs are very masculine.
Most of the bead shops (Beads by the Dozen, Plush Appeal, etc.) carry a wide selection of masks, although they're often generic looking and cheap.
There's also a mask shop in the Lower Quarter called Serendipitous Masks @ 831 Decatur that sells beautiful masks for a good price.

Trader Joe's Everyday Seasoning is spectacular. Its in a grinder so its fresh when you need it and there is salt but not too much. Alternatively, or in supplement, Trader Joe's 21 Seasoning Salute is fucking awesome. It's more of an herb based seasoning with no salt. You can probably get these at the actual Trader Joe's for a lot cheaper but I'm lazy and I need things shipped to me, so amazon it is.

I have an AirVPN subscription, and bypassing Cox's DNS servers does the trick.
Without the VPN, I have issues streaming, connect to the VPN and can stream and download HD movies no problem
Pimm's Cup - Napoleon House (Quarter).
Blueberry Mojito - St. Joe's Bar (Uptown on Magazine)
Good beer selection coupled with good live music - dba (Frenchmen)
Does anyone here know how Bacchanal is doing now? Haven't been since they banned music.
OP: A lot of good info is in here: NOLA GUIDE
There's a map of this guide as well up near the ribbon, or on the right---->>>>>>
Table Manners in the French Culture
> Bread is used to mop up sauce from your plate and to accompany the cheese course. Never cut your bread with a knife, but tear off small pieces by hand. It's considered polite when mopping up your plate to put a small piece of bread on the end of your fork, rather than using your fingers.
i always have to buy at least one extra loaf from the bakery ... and it never makes it home.
Not sure if you’ll be able to see this link onnextdoor
It’s a boxer mix but the description matches yours pretty well
If having a physical bank is important to you, ignore me with haste.
If having a bank you use through your phone, with ATMs all over the place, and no fees for any-damn-thing appeals to you, consider checking out Simple. I'm so ridiculously in love with this bank. Legit, personal customer service is mindblowing.
If you're interested, shoot me a message and I can send you an invite.
Do you have a budget - I know you were planning on $0 for lodging, but is there an upper limit? This place on AirBNB is only $120 a night, and its right on the street car line that heads right into the French Quarter where all the action would be (so you wouldnt be able to walk to the FQ, but its maybe a 10-15min ride). It's also right on the parade route for the Endymion parade.
(Just checking airbnb for places that you might not have thought of because some times in New Orleans things might not look close to the action, but they can be. I also cant vouch at all for that specific place in airbnb - its just a random one I found)
For your first question, there are many similar requests on this subreddit. Take a look around. We play travel agent a lot.
My central AC dehumidifies fairly well, but I still have mini-dehumidifiers in the closets and bathrooms. There are many other brands that all look exactly the same - and I'm sure they're all the same OEM. All these mini-dehumidifiers are Peltier-effect coolers, so they're very quiet, and not very power hungry either.
These are cheap (about $30), and I run them 24/7. They've been running for >2 years now without any issues. The water tanks need to be emptied about once a week. Makes a huge difference in small enclosed spaces.
There will be more. This photo book is going to get me through this season. This along with looking through photos from previous Mardi Gras already helped when I’m feeling down about Mardi Gras this year.
This whole situation smells a lot like the policies of previous city governments that were put in place to gentrify the hell out of the city. If you have read How to Kill a City you definitely should because it's small policies here and there that will turn New Orleans into a San Fransisco.
On Amz, I've ordered za'atar from a wild thyme farm definitely in Hezbollah administered South Lebanon. More expensive, but way stronger/fresher than the bulk zaatar I've seen locally.
We won't be having one this month due to Mardi Gras and conflict of schedule for two weeks with the organizers. We will be back again in March though like normal.

Businesses have gotten wise to Outline. I think Outline also got in a lot of trouble for creating the go-to skirt paywall web app.
Something I do is save the article to an app called Pocket, which kind of does the same thing. It just removes all of the code. It usually skirts paywalls with maybe the exception of WSJ.
I’m sure Pocket’s time will come too once more people use it. But for now it works for Nola.com
Please report this to the Election Protection Coalition! Phone number is 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) Website https://866ourvote.org/ That goes for any and all issues with voting y'all! Call it in! Polling place inaccessible, hard to find, no PPE, ballot issues, any problem you come across.
Also everyone registered to vote in LA should take this SURVEY from NAACP Legal Defense Fund, they're trying to get as many folks to take the survey as possible to gather info on the voting process especially in these COVID times.
If you have a smartphone with GPS, go download the app - I use Groundspeak, but there are several.
If you don't have a smartphone, you need a GPS device and coordinates for the caches you want, which you can obtain from here. You also should bring a pen, as many of the caches have logbooks you're supposed to sign.
Follow your GPS to the coordinates, and then try and find the cache (they're generally well hidden).
St. Vincent's Guest House - Magazine & Race St right near downtown. POOL. Really cool neighborhood - close to the Irish Channel uptown... Fascinating place, really, it's an old orphanage built in the 1860s when yellow fever left 1000s of kids on the street without parents. Large rooms, antique everything. Weekly rates are cheap, esp in Summer (less than $200). You may see a few roaches. It's tropical here, get over it.

Well if it’s any consolation, locking it probably wouldn’t have stopped them. Nothing will, short of riding it onto the elevator and into your apartment.
I had good luck using a disc lock with alarm like this generic one - but my bike was also parked right outside my window so I’d hear it.

Many LEDs have a rated life of up to 50,000 hours. This is approximately 50 times longer than a typical incandescent, 20-25 times longer than a typical halogen, and 8-10 times longer than a typical CFL. Used 12 hours a day, a 50,000 bulb will last more than 11 years.
You can't buy standard incandescent bulbs anymore. And CFL's aren't 10 times cheaper than LEDs. On Amazon CFLs are about $3 and LEDs are about the same.
Using 13 cents instead of 9.9 from above would be 98 cents a month instead.

I feel you, friend. My seasonal allergies here seem to have gotten progressively worse with age, so much so that I made an appointment to see an allergist last year since no over-the-counter medication worked for me (except for a couple of Benadryl, which basically just knocked me out cold). In lieu of shots, my doctor prescribed Xyzal, which is now available OTC. One nightly before bed seems to be working for me - no more "sneezy days" like the one you describe, which I used to get pretty frequently. (The generic was covered by my insurance, but now that it's OTC I have to pay for it out of pocket. Still, fifteen bucks for a two month-ish supply at Amazon is, uh, nothing to sneeze at.)
Along the same lines, you can use the mobile app Geaux Vote to be reminded of upcoming elections and get sample ballots:
It's a bit of everything. Most of all is the space around windows and doors. Old counter-weighted windows, found in old homes, are inefficient because of the gap between the sill and window frame. To help this, try sealing the windows & doors with this silicone seal strip. Caulk baseboards, seal/caulk open spaces in the floor boards. This helps with keeping palmetto's out of the house also.

You can see some copies of the ad on Google Book Search--the earliest print reference Google has is actually from a 1911 Iowa prison newspaper, it looks like, asking tongue-in-cheek for a similar slogan for their "walled-n city"!
But I wonder if the inmates had just seen an earlier edition of the ad that didn't make it to Google's archives?
It looks like by the end of the 1910s, the slogan was being used pretty widely--there are even a few industry publications from various industries, including a Wells Fargo employee newsletter, that come up, emphasizing that New Orleans is a good place for business, too, not just "the city [that] care forgot."
the guide has a lot of good things in it. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VHrb8QypwH91hdU6jhz9teT154EDCjlMZh3WrRBQZyc/edit?hl=en&authkey=COus88QJ&pli=1# there are too many places to name all at once so get an idea of where you want to hang out and then ask questions specific about said area :o
the main areas are uptown, downtown and Midcity (as far as visitors are concerned).
That's right around St. Paddy's day so most events will be revolving around that. Here's a good list of all the parades around here.
The local guide is also pretty good at listing most of the places that are good to eat.
Take a look at the local's guide, and then if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

The District is a hot new bar. Lucy's, Vic's, and that bar on Fulton are all close by and have similar clientelle. Dive bars are popular with all age ranged (Mae's, F&Ms, Snake and Jake's). If you're more uptown, you might want to check out Robert's, Maddigan's, Cooter Brown's.
The picture came up in a Facebook group called Aint Dere No More. Here is some info from commenters over there, who seem to know:
The guy on the left was New Orleans Chief of Police George Reyer. In 1931 a program of physical training in a well-equipped gymnasium was started. This picture is a publicity shot..... It's important to note that Captain Arthur Marullo (who owned the gymnasium shown above) was later deemed too "ample" to chase criminals, as noted in this hilarious story about hobos found lodging (no pun intended) beneath 1st District station... http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=-rRaAAAAIBAJ&sjid=ClADAAAAIBAJ&pg=4044%2C2765734
As a footnote, this exercise was part of a larger 1940 weight loss campaign run by NOPD Chief Reyer, which resulted in officers losing nearly 2,300 pounds and over 170 feet(!) of waistline. Read more: http://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth131213/m1/3/zoom/ Arthur Marullo was a boxing manager and promoter, whose son Tony Marullo was a well-regarded boxer. He promoted black boxing shows and wrestling in New Orleans during the late 1920s and early 1930s.
The Atchafalaya thing is a good idea. I suggest stopping by Lake Martin if you have time. It's a short ride off the interstate.

Does this stuff actually work? I heard about it at my motorcycle shop.
Thanks. I'm going with food-grade diatomaceous earth. Seems to be good for ants, roaches, fleas, and termites. Being the cheap b that I am, just trying to decide if I want to spring an extra 10 for a bespoke duster, or try to use an empty dish-soap bottle or empty parmesan-cheese container.
ETA: I just read a review on Amazon (can't find a way to link that specific review) which states that diatomaceous earth is effective against fire-ant colonies. Dude has 5 acres. It took him three years of diligent application of DE dust to every hill he found, but in the fourth year his property was fire-ant free, while his neighbors still have fire-ants. It's on the second page of reviews.
I have the 50mbps package, which gives me around 60mbps down and maybe 7 up reliably. Outages where I am are rare, but the frequency of outages will really depend on where you are, and can vary block-to-block.
You can get a DOCSIS 3 modem on amazon for $50 bucks or so that will do fine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DACQMH4. It is generally cheaper to buy the modem than rent one from cox if you are looking at a year of service or more. Maybe cheaper even for 6 months. Seems like they were trying to rent modems for $10/mo or something. You'll also need to bring your own router -- but, again, those aren't necessarily that expensive, and of course you can reuse all this stuff when you move.
I have an Asus RT-AC66U running the Merlin open source firmware, but you can obviously go a lot cheaper.
And Amazon is literally one click away. You could have the book in your hand and be educated by the end of the week, but you refuse because you want someone to spoon-feed you.

What this is: Software is called GR2Analyst, it shows radar data from the NWS along with a lot of other information. Including weather reports from the public.
I just thought it was kind of funny that someone decided use an app called mPing to let us know that it was raining. After two days of rain.
Your bill should be the same each month until the seasonal price increase. Just set up an auto-pay with your bank for the current amount. The Cox website is stupid broken. I still can't access my account through it (page content disappears when I log-in).
As far as your router, have you tried switching channels? A lot of signals on the default channels can interfere with your WiFi. You can download a WiFI analyzer to see what signals are in your house and which channel they're on. Pick the least cluttered one.
This. I would also like to emphasize how good Coop's Place is. And taking the free ferry across the river from the Quarter to Algiers is always a good bet.

Ah, I don't think I ever noticed them. Anyway, looks like their liquor permit is probably unique to their business/stall if yelp reviews are to be believed. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60864-d5224124-r124159261-Alberto_s_Cheese_and_Wine_Bistro-New_Orleans_Louisiana.html
There was a light rain on the ride over but hardly any since arriving. Been keeping an eye on radars like weather underground or the one from the weather channel. From past hurricane experiences, BR seems to fair a bit better. The calm right now would be a good time to stock up on any supplies you might need or to head elsewhere if you're planning to.
Well, you still need to call them and have them provision the modem. Now, when I got that modem they had to do a few things to get it to work. I would read this thread to see what is up.
I have that modem and I am on premier. I know for a fact that my node is VERY.. VERY over crowded. Now after the D3 switch its maxing out my plan 24x7 .
This is also a cool tool, you can see the whole thing.

I like these better than my timelapse picts (I only had like 1776 photos) tho they're static so you can't expect much until you take the camera off the tripod. This makes me want to bring two cameras.
Every time I read your comments, I think of a Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods where he deals with an incompetent taxi dispatcher and says, "Excuse me, but I have to say this. You are more stupid than a paramecium."
By the way, Bill Bryson has some truly excellent quotes if y'all haven't read his writing.
Bestbuy. They offer free electronics recycling but you do have to drive out to metry. The website says they take monitors up to 32"
Honestly they will probably just use Airbnb's platform to rent out rooms. Similar concepts do this in Portland and other places already. The type of people that would stay at this place are the same type of people that would use Airbnb.
Also, here is some gossip going around nextdoor.com and it isn't the first place I have heard this.
"From what I hear from VERY RELIABLE sources the decision has been made and is going to allow out of town owners to operate with in town management as well as owners of large buildings downtown where several condos are owned by one entity."
Is this it on NextDoor from yesterday? I mean, it’s not often you see someone post about a loose tortoise. Looks like they failed to catch him but took a photo in the Marigny.
This Thursday, City Council's Criminal Justice Committee is having a meeting, and this is the only item on the agenda:
> Discussion of the use of tear gas at the June 3, 2020 protests

This is often overlooked, but Charles Schwab is an investment/brokerage company that offers banking. They have excellent customer service and there is one branch in New Orleans if you need face-to-face time. Their high-yield checking account is awesome because you can use any ATM and they'll refund you the ATM fee! There's also no minimum account balance and no service fees.
To open a checking account you must open a brokerage account (must have minimum $$$ to open one) but I only use my checking account.
Melrose Mansion is a small 14 room renovated hotel on Esplanade. I work for the company, so take this with a grain of salt. Whatever hotel you want to try, check them out on TripAdvisor first.
Family friends of mine have stayed at this cabin on 35 acres of forested land just South of Poplarville. It was about an hour and 20 minute drive from there to my place in the city. Not sure if this is the kind of thing you might be interested in, but it might be worth contacting the owner.
I got my license just a couple years ago at the DMV office in Harvey. The driving test was incredibly simple. We just circled the campus of West Jefferson High School as you see on the map. No parallel parking was involved.
I would study for the written portion. I passed but there were some oddball questions like the exact blood alcohol content that constitutes the legal limit. Missing those non-driving related questions and one or two others could result in a failing grade.
LMMS is free open source software that runs on a Mac and will do what you are wanting to do and more. If you decide to get serious you will probably want to spend the resources on a more powerhouse DAW, but LMMS is very functional and there are a lot of YouTube videos out there about how to use it.
Speed tests will vary based on server location and test provider. Cox white lists most speed tests so they don't get throttled.
I like the Netflix speed test - https://fast.com/en/
or I'll use speed test but pick my own server across the country somewhere. Speed test to a local server is useless as 99% of the sites I visit aren't hosted here.
