I have a bit of insight into this.
To start, GamePress does not get to choose what advertisements are shown to a user at any time. The service we get our ads from is being infiltrated by malicious users. This is a problem for any site with major traffic, including Reddit itself.
The difference between sites like Vox and us is we don't have the resources to tackle the problem in a way that results in a 100% malicious ad-free GamePress. We have taken active measures to monitor our ads but it has unfortunately only improved the situation, not solved it.
I hate browser hijack ads. I also believe we're one of the best sites for PoGO analysis. If you're on mobile I recommend downloading DuckDuckGo or a similar secure browser, or any other adblocking service. However, I have to say that ads are our only source of revenue and simply receiving the ad does not put you at risk.
It's worth looking into the DDG browser on Android instead of Chrome too.
It's much harder to build a unique fingerprint with it
Due to the Samsung Internet icon to the bottom right of the DuckDuckGo icon, this means that you have added DuckDuckGo as a web app through Samsung Internet. As such, when you are searching on DuckDuckGo, you are using the Samsung Internet browser to do so. The DuckDuckGo website is not designed to prevent your browser from saving your search history.
If you do not want have your search history saved on your device, you can download the DuckDuckGo browser app from Google Play or F-Droid. The DuckDuckGo browser gives you a button to wipe all your history within the app.
We have an android app and are available in several android browsers -- bottom of that page.
Wait it is intended to protect for that? Seems like a hard task. I am a bit surprised since I thought duckduckgo was primarily a search engine.
Maybe they're just "helping a bit?" Not sure what the options for android-browsers are. A VPN probably a good idea?
I use a VPN and UMatrix, mainly. Still get 1/640K, 1/33K for respectively with/without UMatrix. Seems pretty fingerprintable. Think the only real solution is a "browser proxy", i.e. a proxy that emulates a browser entirely. Might also need a way for browsers to share what is behind redirects, so that browsers don't have to report where they're going.
Probably privacy badger is easier to use than UMatrix.
l got tired of creepy Google ads too and got this app called Duckduckgo to replace Google. It's a search engine that doesn't track you and blocks others from doing so. Give it a try if you want, I would highly recommend 🌸 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
I like Brave and have it installed.
But for some reason I find myself using DuckDuckGo more instead.

But indeed, Internet privacy and personal data should be at the forefront of any Dem candidate's policy proposal.
We are getting royally fucked by the big tech companies in conjunction with surveillance organizations, such as the NSA.
We should be getting paid for our data and more importantly, we should have regulations set in place that protect us from the pervasive practices of these surveillance organizations.
Yang's acknowledgement of the issue is crucial.
Anybody here seen the JRE podcast with Edward Snowden? It will send shivers down your spine.
Yes. From https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android:
>• Increase Encryption Protection — We force sites to use an encrypted connection where available, protecting your data from prying eyes, like ISPs.
And for your phone use DuckDuckGo Private Browser.

OP is just shedding light. He isn't promoting the app, and the consensus seems to be: don't be a fool and buy the app. Instead, bookmark https://qanon.pub/ in the duckduckgo app. No need for an extra Q app of dubious source.
Here is the free Android Duckduckgo app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
To be clear, DDG does not have a browser (for any platform). The DDG Android app does have minimal browsing capabilities, but is not intended as a default browser.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
Very interesting, up to 3000 attempts from reddit to get these items, wonder if this drains the battery, apps on your phone is constantly being pinged. Problem is if you block anything, you will get no notifications, or the app stops responding. I think having a app that blocks the other apps could cause other issues on your phone. The top apps on my phone are all data mining your info. Discord,Instagram, messenger, reddit.
Io uso duckduckgo. Mi ci trovo bene, anche se ha diversi problemi.
Un mio amico mi ha consigliato il browser Opera, che però non ho provato personalmente. Sembra però che abbia diverse funzioni utili, come una VPN e adblock integrati.
If your business model involves saying you provide Escape Website Tracking — Tracker Radar automatically blocks hidden third-party trackers we can find lurking on websites you visit in DuckDuckGo, which stops the companies behind those trackers from collecting and selling your data.
and then conveniently not mentioning the fact that you do have a contract with an ad tech company until atleast 2022.05.24 you deserve to get shit on
First of all to watch anime you need the right browser; install this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&gl=US
Now that you have it install in it search bar; type in your question.
You be amazed at your answers. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
First start with something simple like switching your search engine to duckduckgo and using the duckduckgo privacy browser as your default. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
>DuckDuckGo is the all-in-one privacy app that helps protect your online activities. With one download you get a new everyday browser that offers seamless protections from third-party trackers while you search and browse, and even access to tracking protections when receiving email and using other apps on your device. With DuckDuckGo, privacy can be your default.
Notice how they keep switching back and forth between browser and app? It is in fact an app, not a browser.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android Here's the Google play for it. If you want something even more secure, I'd go for Ubuntu for phones or even a custom Archlinux version for Android, and install Firefox on it, rooted via Tor over VPN over Tor. That should give you enough privacy for days
This isn't an answer to your question but:
Why would I want to use your product over DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser or Firefox Focus?
My bad I just did a quick search and copy and pasted. Sorry, I should know better. Was in to much of a rush. Here's the browser https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&hl=en_US&gl=US
I would highly recommend checking out the “DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser”… available for both iOS & Android. I’ve been using it for years since it came out. One of the great things about it is not only its focus on privacy, but also it’s light weight, fast speed. And non-cluttered simplistic design.
Here you go in case you wanna check it out… https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&hl=en_US&gl=US
How about DuckDuckGo Browser? you can get it from F-Droid or Playstore. You can't change the search engine, site data and history are deleted after you quit (but you can fireproof and bookmark individual sites so you can save them), BUT it's practically just a graphical interface slapped on top of your system webview so it's pretty lightweight.
> Suddenly the google search bar on my home page is useless (and non-removable because stock android),
Well, it actually is removable, because as you mention later in your post, you can replace the stock android launcher with something like Nova launcher
> the google now page is useless, google assistant is useless
Google Now and the assistant are products that are based entirely off of your Google account + search. I don't see any problem in this; of course we'd like it to somehow work even if we use ddg instead, but that isn't feasible. I don't get mad at Microsoft when I switch to Linux and suddenly can't use Office anymore.
> I could switch to a new launcher like nova (that I used to use), but they broke gesture controls so I'd need to switch back to a 3 button control scheme
Gesture controls work for me in Nova... are you using the full native gesture control? or something like FluidNG (which also worked for me)? You can set your own Nova gestures in the settings.
> That would still break the google feed on the left
https://help.teslacoilapps.com/nowcompanion enables the feed, straight from the devs of Nova
> because duck duck go needs to use a widget for the on-screen search bar it would be FAR less functional and fluid compared to a google search
To be fair, I'm pretty sure Nova and other launchers don't offer a DDG search bar either, so you're going to have to deal with a widget regardless. Anyway I'm sure you already know this but you could just use the DDG browser app in lieu of Chrome for the same thing
Not on Android. DDG is a skin on the system WebView. It is the only way you get a browser when you have a 10 MB APK for the app.
Yeah, I agree. If you want to switch browsers though I'd recommend DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser. I've been using it recently & I gotta say It's much better than any of the Firefox Browsers currently on the Store.
Yeah noticed that too. Use the duckduckgo app as the browser and it deletes all cookies after closing the browser. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
Though opening pages within reddit doesn't activate the browser. I usually copy the link or use the 'open with' option.
Is this another case where we're supposed to assume you're talking about the DDG browser for Android?
What are you really asking? Yes you have my permission to use the DDG browser instead of Tor Browser for Android. Perhaps you're asking if you can use the DDG browser to access onion services? No you can't.
Yeah, it uses some Google APIs. DuckDuckGo strips all the Google stuff out, but it's still Chromium-based, so you'll probably not like it as well.
I mean, I'm reading this from the DDG browser.
What do you mean exactly that there is no such thing as a "DuckDuckGo" browser?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
FYI I’m not talking about the search engine. They have a browser:
DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser by DuckDuckGo, Inc. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/duckduckgo-privacy-browser/id663592361?mt=8
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
This is exactly what I had to do, as websites were no longer working properly and I already have security extensions that handle privacy that work for me.
But that right there is the problem. I was not expecting to have to put forth this effort, and why would I?. Now you've lost the trust of many people. Just look at the backlash in the reviews on google play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android) and the chrome store (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/duckduckgo-privacy-essent/bkdgflcldnnnapblkhphbgpggdiikppg/reviews)
I am not sure if it's possible to fully come back after this sort of move. I don't know if it's possible, but the only way it might be reversed is if you could somehow revert the app back to how it was end support for them, then simply notify everyone that there is a new DDG privacy extension and release these new updates as a whole new thing.
I've used it since it was first introduced. I haven't really looked into a way to replace Google Search on my phone though.
Currently I have swipe up launch my browser that has DDG as the default web page to load. A search app for DDG would be great. If anybody knows of any or has any ideas, I'd appreciate it
I searched to see what options there are available. DuckDuckGo does have an Android app available.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
I know exactly what you mean, and I think I found the perfect app for you.
It's an alternative search engine which promises not to collect any personal information. It includes a widget for your homescreen. Upon tap, it opens the DuckDuckGo app and lets you type something in. After hitting enter, the search results are shown to you in your external browser (Chrome). You have to go to the settings and toggle "Use external browser" for this.
They have browser too.
But what if you use chrome?
Edit: It's on Android. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
They also have their own Android app:
https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.duckduckgo.mobile.android/
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
DuckDuckGo's browser. I love it.

If you care even a fraction about your privacy, you shouldn't use Avast
Avast has been caught selling user data, it's privacy policy is too long to read, and it sells free software (How would they make money unless they sell your data?)
Avast has been caught before- https://www.pcmag.com/news/the-cost-of-avasts-free-antivirus-companies-can-spy-on-your-clicks
The company isn't private- https://privacyspy.org/product/avast/
If you don't care if Avast can have access to everything on you device (if you use the anti virus) or your browsing history, then the browser is secure
If you want a more private solution I HIGHLY recomend
Bromite (Chrome with Privacy and Security enhancements)- https://www.bromite.org/
Firefox (Any or all versions (The most mainstream private browser))- https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
Brave (lots of features, chromium based, lots of privacy enhancments)- https://brave.com/
Duckduckgo (browser made by the company behind the search engine, a pillar in the privacy community, pretty minimalistic browser)- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&hl=en_US&gl=US
It is, at least on android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&hl=en_US&gl=US
Yes it is. They've made their own android browser.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android

Hello!
I'm using DuckDuckGo Browser on Android 7. The "Save on long touch" seems to be missing on all pages.
it's duckduckgo browser it also has built-in system wide tracking protection
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
People upvoting you instead of doing a simple search smh
On mobile they have this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
DDG recently launched an android browser, so it's both.
It works as a VPN
You should wait for the feature to be enabled as now it's in beta and enabled as you request only https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
Seriously? It is a browser.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
Vanced (only available on Android, I think IOS has an app if your iPhone is jailbroken)
DuckDuckGo or your mobile browser of choice featuring a built in ad blocker
And on my desktop I run Ublock Origin in Firefox
I'm not an expert in data security or any of that crazy shit, but this is how I've flown under the media radar so long
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
Apply to be a beta tester.
Try DuckDuckGo
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
It's based on Firefox iirc but it's a full featured browser on Android.
You mean this one?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
I just downloaded and it won't open. It crashes all the time.
It's a browser tho, at least in Android
Huh, I didn't know! I use old reddit myself, even when using my phone (I open it in an internet browser rather than using an app or something), and it literally looks the same as on a PC for me, flairs and all. Maybe try getting the DuckDuckGo browser (Android | iOS) or another than can easily switch to 'desktop mode' on a phone? That's what I use anyway, since I don't really trust Google not to track me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&hl=no&gl=US
Yeah looks like it. I have it for iOS myself to stream movies without pop ups and such
You could try DuckDuckGo
that and more stupid shit change was to make me install another web browser on my phone! so you can use Duckduckgo or Vim oooor Tor Browser.
На большинстве сайтов эту проблему решает DuckDuckGo browser (не реклама) - никакой надоедливой рекламы

Keep in mind that the vast majority of reddit users only use it on their phone.
Let's all take a giant leap for Humanity.
I had no idea, but this shit checks out...

Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/duckduckgo-privacy-browser/id663592361
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&hl=en_US&gl=US
There is a DDG Android browser as well:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&hl=en_US&gl=US
Yes you can try it
Same app is available on the Play Store at
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
I don't know what phone you have or what browser/version you're running so I wouldn't be able to answer that. Usually it's not important to view the cookies anyhow, just clear it all and you should be fine.
If you aren't already I would recommend using this mobile browser:
Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android&hl=en_US
iOS https://apps.apple.com/us/app/duckduckgo-privacy-browser/id663592361
If you're using iOS I would pair it with Lockdown: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lockdown-apps/id1469783711
You don't need the VPN portion of the Lockdown app, just the tracker blocker portion, so you can decline the vpn trial it offers you when you open it up.
