Honestly F2P crap is the biggest thing hurting the mobile gaming community (and gaming in general) right now and the only thing preventing it from cultivating quality games en masse.
Ask yourself: "Am I willing to spend $3-$5 to rent a 2 hour movie?"Then ask: "Am I willing to spend $3-$5 to buy a mobile game that I can play for DOZENS+ hours?"
If the answer is yes to the top one then why the fuck would it be no to the bottom?
If you can somehow get over this issue you're having with paying for quality content that doesn't try to pigeonhole you into endless microtransactions just to progress in a meaningful way then give Battleheart Legacy a try.
SO good. Thank you, haven't played it since I had an iPhone 4, and am such a fan of the gameplay of their newer creation Battleheart Legacy I'm itching to go back to the OG.

Battleheart Legacy was $4.99 now $1.99
This is the first time it's been on sale and it's been out for at least a year if not more. SO anytime Mika Mobile puts something on sale it's a rarity. Get it while you can!
Ohhhhhh have I got a game for you! Battleheart Legacy! Pretty casual but also deep gameplay mechanics. Good presentation, decent graphics, fun gameplay.
Battleheart Legacy is by far my favorite. The game is absolutely phenomenal to play, very very good. Seriously amazing action RPG for the $5, no ads or microtransactions of any kind too. Very good skill system and lots of replay value. Bit light on the story but the gameplay more than makes up for it.
Battleheart Legacy allows mix-and-matching active & passive skills from all available classes. After you beat the game you can start a new one with all previous class skills unlocked which allows for a metric ton of experimentation with different builds.
Battleheart Legacy might interest you. You pick a class and play through the map/story. You can sort of multiclass as well by spreading your stat points.

have you checked battleheart legacy? I played all those you listed, and enjoyed it way more (sadly it is quite short)
Could also check the bard's tale, it is a bit less diabloish, but enjoyed it too.
Titan quest is also a great pick as meera223 said, but didn't enjoy playing it on touch as much.

Not sure what you mean by dead regarding Lesabel, have they removed it from the playstore?
Pretty much.
You'll find that a lot with android games.
There are rare exceptions that are custom made for the platform, like Battleheart Legacy, but android just doesn't seem to make enough money except when studios rework the properties with paywalls and predatory iaps.
There have been a bunch of faithful ports, but it seems like many, if not most of the high quality games that were once on the platform, got broken during updates to android, or removed due to GDPR and just never came back.
Battleheart Legacy for no.1
Battelvoid Harbinger for no.3
Battleheart Legacy! Just picked it up a week ago or so, it's great. No IAPs, fun writing that isn't too silly, and a huge world with side quests and hidden locations everywhere!
Skill system is very interesting. It's kind of like Diablo 3 where you can swap skills at will, but you buy skills from teachers of different classes. Each skill has a stat requirement to get it. You can really mix-and-match skills to get the build you want.
Game's from 2014, but it still looks great and will run perfectly on anything you put it on.
A+ ARPG. Battleheart Legacy
I see what he's doing there.
"Battleheart Legacy" is a sequel which costs $4.99. Giving away the first game in the series acts as advertising for the second, and demonstrates a commitment to keeping the games updated, which in turn encourages people to buy the game.

I've searched the forums and many, many times people recommend this game. If it wasn't that currently I'm more into more realistic graphics I'd certainly give it a try. Dungeon Quest and Battleheart Legacy seems to have some corrupting power over my graphics preferences :P
No there are absolutely not thousands of Diablo Clones on Android....
I only play the paid for games and not the freemium ones. Some may have IAP's but none of the IAP's in these games are essential.
1) Battleheart Legacy. This is the top selling and top rated one at the moment. Not to be confused with Battleheart, the dev's other game from the same franchise which is a Final Fantasy clone.
2) Iesabel was on sale for 99 cents. Only 2 classes to pick from. Was one of the better ones but they haven't updated it in over a year.
3) Deathbat was recently on sale for 49 cents. Wait for another sale.
4) Archangel. Pretty but also dead in the development sense and there is only one character class and it is also heavy on puzzles if I remember correctly.
5 & 6) bit Dungeon and bit Dungeon II. Roguelikes with overworlds that are more of a Zelda/Diablo blend.
7) The Bard's Tale. Old as hell but also recently updated. Only one character to play and very story heavy. More of an adventure game than your standard hack-n-slash.
8) Dungeon Quest. Okay this one is freemium but I'm only mentioning it because you said Torchlight. If you want a Torchlight clone, this is it!
9) 9th Dawn. This is pixel art which you hate and IT WILL NOT RUN ON LOLLIPOP. It's still a great game though and there is an update on the way that will fix its compatibility issues. Try the Demo Version before paying money for the full game to see if it will work with your system. Oh and don't even bother trying to play it on a phone, unless you own a phablet or you constantly wear those little jeweler eyeglass piece thingies.
Really enjoyed Battleheart Legacy.
Here is a list with direct click-on Google Play links to good Diablo-like games. These are single-player and possible the best you can get for a nice Diablo experience on Android:
Here's a couple games that could also be it.

Pretty sure they're referring to this. Although both games are great.

Not sure about bard's tale genre honestly, but that's my guess.
That's the game btw: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.MikaMobile.BattleheartLegacy
I hear that Battleheart Legacy is supposed to be like a single player MMORPG.
I decided to try out battleheart legacy and enjoyed it.
Heres a link.

The controls are touch to move, but there's never any issue with visibility.
I don't suppose you've played these? * BH:Legacy * Crystal Picnic * Dragon Fantasy * Hero Siege - Pocket Edition * IttleDew * Mage Gauntlet * Oceanhorn * The Quest * Wayward Souls
List made using List My Apps
Wayward Souls is more action rogue like, and The Quest is an open world turn based rpg but I included them because they are stellar games. It's a shame real games tend to be less triple a graphics, but the above listed are very enjoyable and all should be premium or disable ads with an iap.
Here's one I've discovered, fantastic execution. Not a MMO, but great fun.

They did not abandon Android.
