The best MMO out there, if you value a good community, excellent gameplay and its F2P (you can actually go from lvl 1 - endgame without spending a dime) is 'Lord of the Rings Online'. http://www.lotro.com
Make a char, join for ex 'Laurelin server' and have a blast :)
Look for a game called Planetside. Or Planetside 2 is coming out soon. MMOFPS. Though with rpgs(stat grinders) games it will have some stat building mechanics like skill trees and loot and stuff.
APB: Reloaded? Half that game is character customization.
Also, Star Trek Online is pretty good and has great customization.

The main thing that is bad is that you only get a choice of 4 classes and 4 races if you are f2p and the 250 AA limit pretty much means that you are really really underpowered at high levels.
Yes, and at the same time open up for partnerships with sponsors or other companies that want in. This unfortunately makes things really complicated and puts an insane amount of pressure on the publisher or game creator to deliver top notch content. So its highly unlikely we will see this coming. If blizzard had opened partnerships with IEM or something similar for WOW - WOW arena could still be huge. But they didnt so now it is only the blizzard tournament once a year. https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/esports
It's still "Experimental" but it was added in during the 4.0.1 stuff that game right before Cata hit. Here is a clicky about it
I'm waiting for a number of MMOs coming out Q4 2011/Q1 2012 too. Tera, GW2, etc.
I see you played EdenEternal, the graphics are quite childish, but the game-play really gets much better than the starter zone. In the same art style, DragonNest was just released. Not an open world MMO, similar (but more open) to Vindictus' world. It combines action MMO with hoykey skills. I find it reasonably fun, enough to play more than once anyways.
Have you played Rift yet? That's the last "major" MMO I played, I lasted 6 months before getting bored with it. Could've lasted much longer if I had any real interest in raiding.
This UtechSmart mouse has been treating me pretty well since I got it earlier this year. Used to have a wired Razer mmo mouse and wired Reddragon mouse and they both had some issues where it would randomly stop being able to move my cursor side to side for a few seconds before fixing itself. Never had that issue with this one.
Couple more details can be found in today's update - https://crowfall.com/en/news/pre-alpha-1-3-enter-the-ranger/
~~Edit: Here's some Ranger streaming - https://www.twitch.tv/failymcboat~~
Edit 2: The stream is over.
For right now I would say Final Fantasy 14 as well. As for the future , I'm interested in Brad McQuaid's new MMO - Pantheon. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1588672538/pantheon-rise-of-the-fallen
Been a long time since I played, but IIRC you have control over your sword swings and attacks will hit anything in your arc. It's a lot more action oriented than typical MMO combat systems. (http://www.ddo.com/ddogameinfo/combat)
MMO usually means MASSIVELY multiplayer, not 5v5 like League. Those are just multiplayer games. As for games like the ones you listed.. you listed such a WIDE variety it makes it hard to suggest something.
TF2, Tribes, Blacklight, and Planetside 2 are all first person shooters (Planetside 2 being a FPSMMO). Crossfire is a super popular FPS that is free to play.
Path of Exile is a dungeon crawler... thing. The only others I know are Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3 which both are not free to play.
Vindicticus, TERA (to some degree) are both hack and slash games. I don't really know any other free to play games like them.
As for the rest, they are more traditional MMOs which you can find a giant list here
Honestly, it isn't a ton but it was enough to get me by. I never really had a problem being able to afford items with cash. I would usually stay capped and kept my bags at least halfway full with various items I didn't need. I would sell those as soon as I bought whatever. And the inventory thing isn't a huge deal, like you said it's just convenient. Here's the website if you wanna check it out. http://www.dcuniverseonline.com/
If you liked PSO I'd recommend Tera (http://tera.enmasse.com/) which is a Korean style game somewhat similar. It's like an MMORPG but it's more action based. All attacks can be dodged by manually moving your character out of range or fire, and you actually need to stay near enemies and keep them in range of your attacks to hit them. I don't recall if damage numbers pop up but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. It's also free to play!
Neverwinter. It has community driven quests to go on, pvp and dungeons. You have tank and healer style classes there. Plus, you can pan down the graphics on her PC so she can still get the frames she needs.
Here is a link to their website http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/neverwinter
If not that...someone mentioned Star Wars the Old Republic which might be another option. Or try Guild Wars 2.
Aren't they giving these out on their site?
Not exactly what you're asking for but since Open TTD was mentioned this might interest you as well. https://openrct2.org/
Basically rollercoaster tycoon with player hosted servers to build parks together.
