If you use android you should try Bitcoin checker. Has a notification ticker with alerts for price changes and supports tons of exchanges. It's basically the app I get my daily dose of dopamine from.

A screenshot of Bitcoin Checker, a neat app for at least android phones, you can find a big ass list of exchanges and a lot of trading pairs, set price alarms etc. The best thing is that it can show prices on the top bar of your phone.

Bitcoin Checker has % based alerts for multiple coins and exchanges. Been using it a week or so and it's been great so far.

Of course timing is key. So is patience.

Having a plan is also useful (e.g., figuring out what pairs you will trade), and being ready to execute it at a moment's notice.

One hint I'll give you; get an app called "Bitcoin Checker" which can be used to watch many different pairs at many different markets and supports audible alarms if values change by more than x%.

Just get an app like Bitcoin Checker. (Despite the name it supports all altcoins from pretty much every exchange in the world)

And you can set up alarms for price changes (e.g. whenever something goes up or down 10%) so you don't have to obsess over it, because if you haven't gotten a notification you know that prices haven't changed much.

You can have a persistent notification. It doesn't show without dragging down the notification bar though.

Bitcoin Checker. You can set alerts for values/percentages < > = whatever price point you like. Also it puts a notification in the notification panel so just have to swipe down status bar to see BTC price.

Bitcoin Checker. For sound alerts you can choose between Notification Stream or Alarm Stream. I guess that the Alarm Stream should do it.

Bitcoin Checker might be what you're looking for. It doesn't put the price up next to the battery, but it does put it in the notification shade. Just pull it down for a quick look.

Does exactly that. You can set the percentage, define which exchange / pairing you want alerts on, and set you own alarm sound. Mario powerup / pipe sounds all day.

If you're an Android user this is really useful and does what you want. You can set the price you bought at and a percentage that you want an alarm to go off at.

I find it tragic that I can't explain to you that what you're doing is borderline identical in outcome to sitting around with a bunch of USD waiting to buy the dip. Except you're literally dodging the dip as it's happening and entering the market at a lower price, as though you bought the dip at the value of your bitcoin before the dip happened.

Imagine buying BTC for the first time at 8k, and it immediately drops to 6.7 and you go "shit I wish I waited and bought it then instead" YOU CAN LITERALLY DO THAT IF YOU SELL AS THE DIP IS HAPPENING.

With Bitcoin Checker on Android I can set it to any custom audio alert, have it read out the price, and set it to use the alarm volume instead of notification volume. So I can turn down my ringer, but turn up the alarm volume.

If so, they don't seem to have any other apps (only android) and otherwise, it seems like its just an API/third party library to make checking prices easier. Mine is a full fledged managed app. I guess my app isn't for the "day trader" of bitcoin, but its a fully managed way to just easily get alerts.

Relying on DolarToday or those other dólar parapelo social media sites is basically trusting them on telling you what the price of 1 BTC in VEF (and USDVEF) is, you cannot see where they take the price from nor you cannot make the calculation yourself. Our API uses public data from the only current exchange with enough volume in VEF, LocalBitcoins. You can make the calculations yourself and see that the price we show is market base, something you cannot do with those sites.

Keeping your coins on an exchange is relatively unsafe. So many things could fail that are beyond your control. The whole point of involving cryptography in money is provable, personal ownership. Be your own bank. Et Cetera. An ETH addresss where you do not know/control the private key goes against the core principals of cryptocurrency. Own your coins. Exchanges get hacked/do shady shit.

Ledger Nano S (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) Ease of use and damn-near indestructable.
MEW (MyEtherWallet) Paper Wallet. Instructions can be found here. Follow them exactly. Do not proceed until you fully understand what is happening.

Centralized Exchanges

(I trust NO exchange more than I absolutely have to). Register and verify with as many as you feel comfortable. You never know when you'll need a backup exchange for a quick buy/sell. Good to be able to do what you want on a variety. These exchanges are provided in order of confidence. Kraken has been having trouble with DDOS attacks and filling orders during these attacks.
