Great work to see this info
and now the but
Please make it from a bulletpoint hitlist into something graphical more appealing.
Make a Spanish, Korean, Chinese and Japanese version
give a bit more non technical info
So get a "datascientist" with a graphic designer and a linguist to make something better of it. (presentation factor that is)
I do not mind paying/donating for it. As I lack the skillset to make something better out of it quick
(you can hire somebody from fiverr and get a template from graphicdriver as a starter).
Ooh and synchronize the data with https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap and update the data there as well. Example Support Trezor 2 on trello roadmap. Support Trezor on this list
In reality there is a Trezor model T (to be released) and there is a Trezor One
Ok, I'll bite. Why do you think marketcap relates to development?
.
VTC already has years on on-going volunteer development under its belt. See the roadmap for completed and in progress features and compare them to BTG.
.
Not to mention VTC has twice in the past demonstrated they and the community are willing to fork to kill asics, BTG has yet to have a chance to demonstrate their commitment.
.
Most aspects come down to claims vs demonstrated tech between the two. The fact that there was a HUGE premine cash grab by BTG vs zero of that for VTC is a pretty good encapsulation of the different developer visions of the coin.
My initial thoughts: there's some work to do here.
Two things that jumped out at me. Firstly, the "Invest" sub page. The graphic at the top shows $>>>VTC, then we go on to suggest the more convoluted route of $>>>BTC>>>VTC. Now I know direct fiat to VTC exchange is not easily accessible to all, but surely places like Vault of Satoshi and Bittylicious at least deserve a mention here? Or do we want to reinforce the belief that the only way to buy VTC is via BTC?
Secondly, a simple but very prominent typo on the "Details" page. The tag line reads "Vertcoin’s is designed to resist centralization…"
Edit: OMG, that Invest page is even worse than it first appeared. Step 2: "The most reliable way to purchase Vertcoin is to purchase Bitcoin first and trade it for Vertcoin. So, how do you get Bitcoin? Luckily that part is pretty easy. Just go to https://coinbase.com, sign up for an account there and buy your Bitcoin. Don’t worry – you don’t need to buy a whole Bitcoin right out of the gate. You can purchase fractions of Bitcoin. Once you have your Bitcoin, you need to exchange it for Vertcoin."
Might as well have added: "If you live outside the USA, your investment is not wanted."
https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap
New multi-platform Lightning based wallet incl. stealth + atomic swaps ******** Vertwallet (temporary iOS wallet)******* Establish the Vertcoin Foundation******** AMD Miner, built from scratch!******* New exchange listings************* New website************* Trezor support*************** Expanding VertDocs*************** Make LND, Eclair, c-lightning forks for VTC****************
I bought a stack right at the peak.
So I'll play devil's advocate and say that the skeptical (and actually discerning) train of thought is to:
The above two options come with their own risks, but are generally sound decisions (provided sufficient research is done before hand).
However, comparing VTC's market cap with its closest cousin, LTC:
Market cap - VTC is only 5% of LTC's $3billion Circulation - VTC has approx. 40mm in supply vs LTC's 56mm
VTC is positioned in the top 50 cryptos LTC is positioned in the top 5
Now again the discerning investor would be wary of a direct comparison with LTC since both are actually vastly different (and actually inter dependent in some ways), but considering VTC's low market cap position + its growing appeal toward miners + scheduled block halving in Nov / Dec, it's a really good chance that VTC still has a ways more to go before it hits its maximum short term potential at the end of the year. Even double its market cap at $300mm wouldn't be unrealistic at all @ position #21 / 22.
No one can accurately predict anything, but the chance of VTC's value and adoption increasing is very high.
I don't really share my own personal TA often but VTC is one of the few I keep my eye on... and last night I had drawn this descending triangle and was keeping an eye on it ... and the damn thing broke so clean, it's nice: https://www.coinigy.com/s/i/5a22dc2c42fb5/
Now all we can hope for is for BTC to go sideways and be merciful on us altcoins.
If anyone isn’t on binance And doesn’t have BNB let me know!
I will get to everyone soon! If you don’t have a Binance account use my link! referral link!
It's an interesting idea that I haven't dived into too deeply, though I'm not sure Myriad is comparable to Vertcoin, given that it has a market cap of only $3mil (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/myriad/). If/when it comes to forking the proof of work algorithm, it's one of the many options that we could look into. Though, I suspect there's probably an even more elegant solution available that requires less forking in general.
Probably something on the roadmap.
Since the donation was a one-time thing and in the range of $70k usd today, I doubt they could hire anyone full time with it. But they might be able to contract work out....perhaps translating/localizing a lot of the vertcoin programs, so it is more accessible to non-english speakers.
Welcome to the family!
Here's a link to our roadmap: https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap
We discuss Lightning Network & Atomic Swaps in our last Dev Update: https://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/6nh5ay/vertcoin_development_update_july_15_2017/
Welcome :)
As far as I know, the One-Click Miner is one of the best ones right now (and it's very simple to use) but only profitable with mid to high end Nvidia GPUs (>1060 or something like that).
For converting:
Easiest way: https://shapeshift.io/
Longer way: Transfer LTC to Bittrex. Sell LTC for BTC. Buy VTC with BTC
Thanks for posting. Looks like they have USD and USDT to/from VTC, and accept Visa/Mastercard.
Interestingly you get approx 41 VTC for 100 USDT, but only 31 VTC for 100 USD. So it seems the fees for exchanges involving fiat are quite high
Try it out on https://changenow.io/
Easiest way: https://shapeshift.io
Longer way: send LTC to Bittrex. Sell LTC for BTC. Buy VTC with BTC.
Edit: Loafwallet is only for Litecoin. If you're looking for a mobile Vertcoin wallet, use Coinomi. In fact you can shapeshift your coins from within the app easily.
I don't see this as a mistake. Having not sold a large amount of coins in the beginning means the dev team is more beholden to the community of Vertcoin owners. You can even vote for what you want developed next! https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap
Also, the coin is meant to be the "Peoples Coin", that's why its ASIC Resistant. Another reason not to have performed a pre-mine / ICO :)
I'm not saying that Vertcoin is a bad coin to invest in, far from it! But I would say that I would have thought that before you became "heavily invested" you could have at least visited https://vertcoin.org/
HODL it's as simple as that. If you are getting weak hands take up another hobby for the next couple of weeks. Halfing in Dec 12. As long as there are miners cons will exist, que one click miner and much more check roadmap https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap. 2018 will be awesome.
I agree, using the Steam platform for marketing will be quite favorable for VTC. Here are a few counters to that argument (Not trying to antagonize you/shut the idea down; just trying to incite discussion):
Marketing - Are we branding VTC as a gaming-related token? Public perception will be swayed in that direction because of association with Steam/Valve. This might hamper future partnerships with industries that consider themselves more... serious... as compared to gaming.
Timeline - The devs are already quite busy with their Roadmap. Unless this initiative is taken up by a third-party under the cursory guidance of the dev-team, I don't see it happening in the near future
-Opportunity Cost - I agree with you that people with multiple PCs/idle resources can put them to good use mining VTC. In fact, I think that idea is brilliant. I'm worried about the people who have only 1 PC (a significant majority). They, too, will download this one-click miner. They, too, will allocate some time to mine coins (maybe to save up for that upcoming game!). Effectively, they will play for fewer hours, circling back to my initial point.
Just my 2 Satoshis on the matter. Thoughts?
Looking forward to seeing what comes out of the efforts towards the one click miner and the AMD GPU miner.
we need press awareness like dogecoin: - http://mashable.com/2014/01/20/dogecoins-amaica-bobsled-team - http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jan/20/jamaican-bobsled-team-raises-dogecoin-winter-olympics
If you wanna do it yourself, here's the steps in a nutshell :)
Step 1 - Wallet: https://electrum.vertcoin.org/#downloads Step 2 - Buy from CoinBase and transfer the cryptocurrency over to the exchange. Step 3 - Exchange: https://shapeshift.io/
Alright so basically, download the wallet.. get it set up through the first time configuration. Make sure to write down your pw/phrase that is generated.
Step 2 - Register on coinbase and add your credit card. Purchase Litecoin (LTC) and the funds may take a few mins to appear in your account. You'll get an email when it is ready.
Step 3 - Go to shapeshift.io and start a transfer of LTC -> VTC. They'll ask for a VTC wallet (to deposit the conversion to) and your LTC wallet (receive address) just incase something happens. When you start the transaction, the site will give you a 5 minute window where they will provide an LTC wallet address for you to send the LTC coins you bought earlier to. Then the process will automatically deposit the funds converted for you in the VTC wallet you downloaded.
I can sell to you but I'd prefer not to just because I hate having to deal with Paypal transactions haha. Cheers!
If you choose this method, lmk I can try to help more in depth :)
Buy Bitcoin/Litecoin/Ethereum from normal exchange
Go to shapeshift.io choose first cryptocurrency, and choose Vertcoin.
Enter Vertcoin address, and a 'refund address' for the coin your exchanging.
Click go or whatever
Send the crypto
Bookmark the page with all the info, just in case
Wait for the Vertcoin to arrive
Yes essentially it is since you can use a service like https://shapeshift.io to swap Vertcoin for Bitcoin at the point of sale. But obviously this requires an intermediary, although it's still pretty convenient and easy to use. After we have decentralised exchanges coupled with atomic swaps then that'll no longer be necessary, but that's several months away.
We are on the top exchange which is Poloniex. As we get more users and the price continues to rise VTC will likely be added to more exchanges . We are on quite a few exchanges already https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/vertcoin/#markets
In Mart - April it's going to be 17-20 USD. By the next June 26-28, so I agree with you. VTC needs to be listed on Binance.com, it's going to be a leading exchange soon. That would push the price higher.
ts done in 1 or 2 minutes. 1) First I registered at: https://www.binance.com 2) I got email from Binance and clicked a link in the email to verify. 3) I logged in 4) I klicked "Funds" and then "Deposits Withdrawals" 5) In the row of BNB I clicked on "Deposit" what showed me my own BNB deposit address. 6) To get BNB for free I copied my Deposit-address into a distribution thread and someone spend me 1 BNB (BNB I needed to be allowed to vote) www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/7aekeo/ask_bnb_here_for_vote_on_binance/ 7) I waited until I got my BNB 8) I got my BNB and followed the link to vote: https://www.binance.com/vote.html 9) I voted for VTC! Yeeeaaaaahhh Have fun and hurry up. Deadline is 2017-11-05
start with bitcoin then differentiate with the advantages vertcoin provides in response to the bitcoin mining issues.
This may help depending on your knowledge of cyrptocurrency: https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf
Both.
The nearest term thing is probably the vertcoin foundation. The devs incorporating themselves, as that becomes increasingly more important as crypto is adopted by the mainstream, and large existing companies sometimes only offer software associated with other corporations/legal entities.
When in doubt check the roadmap.
As soon as Asics are available for vertcoin, the devs will make them absolete by switching to another algoritm. So my opinion is no centralization will occur with Vertcoin. Also check the roadmap for some more information: https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap
Here is a chart. Go to the the one-day view and take a gander at where it has now twice bottomed- right around where it is now sitting. Will it go lower? Perhaps, but not by much. I just added another $100 worth, for what it's worth.
I noticed this, I just assumed it was MtGox, but looks like I was wrong.
I also noticed a spike in VTC price around June 2015, reaching a price of $0.57 on 11 Jun 2015. This didn't correspond to any BTC price increase. Does anyone know what happened here?
Sorry - No photo of a chart overlay.
Monocle will most likely fork to lyra2re if the suggested Vertcoin hardfork manages to get consensus. The new proof of work algorithm is active on Monocle's testnet but no mainnet forking block has been set yet. There is a lyra2re branch on https://github.com/erkmos/monocle/tree/lyra2re since a few days and some binaries have been put here (win, mac, linux): http://www.sendspace.com/filegroup/LIgbIdLYeeygLwq5WAwbvHTFA8bBJtfi
Remember to 'git checkout lyra2re' before compiling. Report issues with the monocle github issue tracker. Please make sure all dependencies are installed correctly before reporting compilation problems, e.g. secp256k1 not being in your default system path, on linux you can specify the library location by passing EC_LIB_PATH=/some/path to make
For me Segwit offers better many benefits: https://bitcoincore.org/en/2016/01/26/segwit-benefits/
But there are other people against it, hence Bitcoin Cash: https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@bitcoinshirtz/the-hard-truth-about-segwit
I realize I'm not very familiar with this tech, I'm going to do some more research.
20% of all peercoin have been locked out by BTC-E with another 5% currently being sold on the next 3 largest exchanges. Peercoin's price could easily be moved around by a BTC whale. There was a sharp spike up and down yesterday on Poloniex. This is often seen as a whale testing a market before pumping it up.
That's a tough one with all the stupid regulations over there. If you have a source for buying Bitcoin wait for Changelly to integrate Vertcoin into their accountless swapping service which is supposedly going to happen sometime this month. Then you can simply swap BTC for VTC.
Yes, let's compare us to Bitpay. But not Bitpay now, the huge company that has been around for a few years, how about we go back in time to November 2012 when Bitpay was 16 months old.
https://web.archive.org/web/20121124225434/https://bitpay.com/
They had nobody listed on the site at all. You're comparing apples and oranges here.
Yeah. They have 4 coins up there, but you can send make and upload anything you want. I made a VTC outline one if you wanted to use that for anything
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8JcWHRi-t_FQzJzWWM5cmdWVmc/edit?usp=sharing
I made one:
Click file (in the upper left corner) and then hit save. It is a black and white .eps file because thats what the website wants.
Welcome to the community :)
I'm from the UK too and bought VTC doing the following (and pretty easy) steps:
1) Download a VTC Wallet and wait til it syncs up (took me 4-5 hours) - Download options here: https://vertcoin.org/ 2) Use https://shapeshift.io/#/coins to convert LTC to VTC (small fee applies)
I know the fees are not ideal but whilst we wait for larger exchanges to list VTC (It won't be long) I think it's a decent way to get it now whilst it's still sub $5
Let me know if you have any other questions mate. No doubt there will be lots of other ways to get VTC that's just how I did it recently :)
Only invest what you are willing to lose. Cryptocurrencies are quite volatile.
Always do your own research on coins you want to invest in.
The easiest ways to buy Vertcoin is probably to buy Bitcoin / Litecoin from your preferred exchange (i.e. Coinbase) and then head on over to https://shapeshift.io
Once there, you should the coins you want to swap, enter your Vertcoin address (that you get from your wallet), and a refund address of the base currency (i.e. Bitcoin / Litecoin) just in case anything goes wrong.
If using the precise option, you have to send exact amounts.
You should then get a screen with an address where you send your base currency to. Make sure to bookmark this page until you have received your Vertcoin, as it contains a lot of detail you may need to keep just in case anything goes wrong and you need to contact Shapeshift.
-
Another way to buy is to buy Bitcoin, send it to Bittrex (an exchange) and then buy Vertcoin on that exchange with Bitcoin.
Due to Bitcoin's rather high transaction fees, it may be cheaper to buy Litecoin and send it to Bittrex then sell Litecoin for Bitcoin, and then buy Vertcoin.
I think this article is okay: https://www.cryptocompare.com/coins/guides/what-are-atomic-swaps/
A lot of people confuse atomic swaps with the power of just converting coins to different coins of their liking. That is NOT possible. If a website let you pay in vertcoin and you only have litecoins, you can not buy something on their website. You need to FIRST atomic swap with another person. To find this person, maybe another third party is needed. And maybe this service will charge you fees.
The power of atomic swaps is the ability to trade with a random person without the need to trust him.
For example, if Alice owned 5 Bitcoins but instead wanted 100 Litecoins, she would have to go through an exchange, i.e. a third-party. However, with atomic swaps, if Bob owned 100 Litecoins but instead wanted 5 Bitcoins, then Bob and Alice could make a trade. In order to prevent, for example, Alice accepting Bob’s 100 Litecoins but then failing to send over her 5 Bitcoins, atomic swaps utilizes what is known as hash time-locked contracts (HTLCs).
If we really pay them to list Vertcoin, we should demand 3 things:

(An article like that costs around $150)

(This wouldn't cost them anything as they would use their own SM team)

(This costs around $300)
That's going to be nice when 1 click is developed and AMD gpu becomes efficient. In the meantime I'm planning on building a nvidia gpu miner maybe with some 1070s or 1080s.
In another post someone mentioned that https://changelly.com/ could start selling vertcoin, they accept mastercard visa credit cards. I'm going to email them tonight and ask.
I'm a noob when it comes to developing but I'd like to learn more and contribute. I'm excited about the atomic chain swaps that was talked about between litecoin and vertcoin. Can't wait to see what else is to come.
Depends on a few factors, its going to be an arduous journey but a few google searches will set you straight.
Firstly, MSi Afterburner isn't hard to find and I too recommend this software to limit your power consumption (Putting the card on max tilt isn't efficient)
Which brings me to the second point- you need to find out how much your power costs per Kilowatt hour (KwH)
Afaik the 1070ti limited to 200watt will grab around 38mh/s and generate about 75 degrees celcius (which isnt good or bad, but well within reason on stock fans)
Currency is a different ball game too, in South Africa we pay around R1.12 per KwH, about (0.08 USD)
Making the energy cost for me R4 a day and the income R26, profit of R22 a day. Converting then to your currency use this link https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator/nvidia-gtx-1070?e=0.05&currency=USD
In most cases this site's profitability calculator underestimates the performance/profit but is a good indication to start with.
Hope this helps a bit and good luck!
I don't think the one on the vertcoin website is current . We will have to update that . I'll assume you are using Windows. The latest one is from nicehash (https://www.nicehash.com/?p=software) . Your bat file will look something like this : ccminer.exe -a lyra2v2 -o stratum+tcp://pool-blah-blah.com:6666 -u something -p x –diff-factor 0.5
Feel free to jump into vertcoin slack. We could help you a lot faster there
Hard to say. The price chart of vertcoin correlates quite well with the supposed paydays. There has been a weekly crash after each Saturday/Sunday during the last 30 days at least. The pattern is pretty clear in https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/vertcoin/ if you select the "30 Day" chart.
Those half-free vertcoin dumps are coming from somewhere. GPU miners cannot even dream of ROI at these prices (it takes about 2.5 years for Nvidia gtx 750ti cards - even without paying for electricity!), so to me it must be FPGA stuff. Lets see what happens after Lyra 2 (RE)...
Windows updates are the worst. I know there are ways to disable that "feature." I managed it on Win 7. A quick search for Win 10 pulled this up.
http://www.ghacks.net/2015/07/27/microsoft-releases-tool-to-block-windows-10-updates/
It's a closed source walled garden and actively hinders open participation from the broader community. Slack is also in the business of selling you your history, and on very active communities like ours history only remains for a few days at most. I've lost many important chat logs due to this.
I'm a big proponent of Matrix (https://matrix.org/) and think it's a much superior solution for open source, distributed projects.
Of course timing is key. So is patience.
Having a plan is also useful (e.g., figuring out what pairs you will trade), and being ready to execute it at a moment's notice.
One hint I'll give you; get an app called "Bitcoin Checker" which can be used to watch many different pairs at many different markets and supports audible alarms if values change by more than x%.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobnetic.coinguardian&hl=en_AU
It is currently an open beta, I am looking for testers and an honest feedback to improve it.
You can add READ ONLY exchanges keys, wallet addresses (Vertcoin supported!), manually add holdings (or watch-only entries), read news, view your portfolio (using different charts) and your profit/loss, check candlestick charts (from 1y to 30min) and much more coming soon...
Anyway, if you are interested in trying this app here's the play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bitsnapp.com.bitsnapp
Remember that it's a beta version, please report any bug you find so I can fix it, also, let me know if you like it or if you have suggestions, I am looking forward to receive your feedback!

Coinomi on Android works great with VTC. I personally use Coinomi for small amounts of crypto (you would never walk around in public with your life savings in your wallet), I love it. The electrum wallet will work as well.
Thanks for posting this. It's always good when our community members contribute. In case you have not yet seen this, here is the updated Vertcoin Roadmap for 2018. It shows that's in the works currently and what is next to be worked on.
https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap
Hope that helps!
Yes Vertcoin will have LN transactions, check this twitter post https://twitter.com/vertcoin/status/910680306247544832?lang=en-gb
Also see this link for development roadmap - https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap
Ditto to this! The community behind VTC is a great driver for wanting to invest and see it do well!
I also think the Trello board for development gives you a good idea of what's on the roadmap. Plus that the devs are getting new features live, rather than just chat!
https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap
Viva VTC!
https://trello.com/b/RbsKPeGw/vertcoin-roadmap
Here's what Im seeing. Atomic swaps is a big one that should be here by the end of the year. However, I would argue the asic resistance is a bigger deal than that.
This is not some cheap-o pump and dump coin. This is the real deal and very reminiscent of Litecoin
take a look @ https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/
Look at All Time and with your mouse highlight from the beginning of the spike until now
This may not go all the way to $50 but it's not done growing I can tell you that.
If I look to Bitcoin markets there isn't Coinbase listed: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/#markets
Why not? Is Coinbase just visited by US-customers or international customers from all over the world?
Here's one example:
https://github.com/LedgerHQ/ledger-wallet-chrome/releases/tag/1.6.4 (LTC added on Sep 27, 2016)
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/ (LTC actually declined for a bit after Ledger Nano S support was added.)
Bravo, you're doing well!
I guess these exchanges get a lot of e-Mails. Thats why I would write it very very short!
Tell them that Bittrex already added Vertcoin (then they know that vertcoin is attractive for their competitors) and add the coinmarketcap-link with competing marketplaces which already added vertcoin: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/vertcoin/#markets
To know that Vertcoin already is successful added to competing exchanges and is generating lots of sales - thats the most important point for any exchange!
Thats it - I wouldn't write them more. Thats a powerful point and enough to decide for them!
https://shapeshift.io/#/coins you don't need to create a account.
You can find out yourself what vpn's are trusted and and secure.
Tor routes your connection to the server by sending it through 3 servers before it reaches the destination and the same way back (maybe not the same servers)
It will be through a software update, no need to buy another, and theres is not support for every coin.
If you end up using a core wallet with your coin you can just put your wallet.dat file onto a usb device
You can save some money by building it yourself it's a bit like legos but for adults. And of course a desktop.
Still not sure why this is in /r/vertcoin
I'm underaged and I got locked out of my Coinbase account Thanksgiving of last year. When Coinbase initially implemented identity verification I was able to verify the account by using my learners permit even though my age was 15, then they caught on a year later and locked me out of the account.
I now use a Bitcoin ATM -> Buy LTC -> Shapeshift LTC -> Vertcoin
I checked it out, but is there a different format to print on? I want to hand out paper wallets that look like this: https://www.cryptocompare.com/media/1295/paper_wallet_2.png
But obviously with the vertcoin logo instead
no need to worry yet, VTC is only testing the 2h MA supports while bitcoin is falling after parabolic rise. https://cryptowat.ch/bittrex/vtcbtc/2h
BTC has support at 12000 usd. this is just normal after so strong rally...
Maybe you want Verium, this coin is Asic and GPU resistant and mineable with a CPU, I recommend the second pool for small miners of poolina0r, they have software for Mac too. good luck.
Coin Market Cap Page. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/veriumreserve/
Pool Page. https://vrm2.poolinat0r.com/index.php?page=gettingstarted
Well when it was launched, it wasn't on any exchanges, so it didn't have a price :-)
Poloniex was the first notable exchange to add Vertcoin (on 28th January), just over 2 weeks after launch, and a week before Cryptsy or Bter. The full price history is easy to see there if you use the sliders:
Check out this exchange: https://poloniex.com/exchange
It doesn't have the volume though to support your needed order of 400VTC worth of doge.
You might try to use another browser. I'm using Google Chrome and coinedup.com works fine for me even though it loads slowly.
Apart from bittylicious, you could buy Litecoin from Coinbase then use https://shapeshift.io/ and exchange it for Vertcoin.
Or you could buy Litecoin from Coinbase, send to bittrex then sell LTC for BTC and then buy VTC with BTC.
Basically first buy Bitcoin/Litecoin on an exchange. (I recommend Litecoin due to it being faster with lower fees)
Method 1 (Shapeshift) Head on over to https://shapeshift.io/ Choose Litecoin as input and Vertcoin as output Enter addresses for both coins (If using Precise make sure you send exactly the amount you said you would) Wait a bit ... Vertcoin should be in your wallet
Method 2 (Bittrex) Make a Bittrex account and get verified Send Litecoin from the exchange you bought it from to Bittrex Sell the Litecoin for Bitcoin Buy Vertcoin with Bitcoin
Method 3 (Coinomi/Shapeshift) If you have an android device, this method is very easy (the others are too but this is definitely the easiest)
Send Litecoin to the Coinomi wallet Within the app, click on the menu button Choose Shapeshift Choose cryptocurrencies you'd like to trade ... Done
Make sure to write down the seed phrase somewhere (physically not digitally) and store it in a safe place (or multiple safe places)
Haha you should go for it! I'd say cheapest/quickest way atm is to buy Bitcoin/Litecoin (Litecoin may have cheaper fees) from Coinbase then use https://shapeshift.io/#/coins to exchange that into VTC! The fee from shapeshift should be about 0.02 VTC.
Feel free to PM me if you need help.
If you still have coins I would recommend https://shapeshift.io because its very easy to use. And you can get Vertcoin (VTC) in netherlands biggest exchange https://www.litebit.eu/en. These two are in Europe but as a European you can buy it anywhere else too.
If you have an android phone there is an app called coinomi. This wallet has integrated shapeshift and you can exchange ltc to vtc just inside the wallet without any registration.
Or just visit https://shapeshift.io/#/coins
If you have an Nvidia card use this miner: https://github.com/djm34/ccminer-lyra/releases
I mine at NiceHash, they pay in Bitcoin and are very reliable: https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=news&id=27
I think most people around here use Cryptowatch or TradingView. There's also just the default tickers on Bittrex and Poloniex
Hey there!

Exodus "EDEN" is the unsupported version of Exodus... EDEN is like a public Beta for technically advanced Users, but you do not get any support for it...
And like any Beta/Testing Version, you will probably encounter some problems...

Unfortunately, If you already have an account then you do not qualify for the promotion....Sadly thats me, but I posted so that someone atleast can avail of this free offer.....I wrote to them after creating my second .edu email based account on not receiving my bitcoins and here is what I got in reply from them -- from the coinbase support team """ Hi,
Thanks for contacting Coinbase Support! If you haven't gotten your bonus, I'm afraid it's because we found another Coinbase account that you created before.
I'm really, really sorry about that... It doesn't seem very fair to leave out the university students who already had Coinbase accounts. But the purpose of this promotion was really to introduce new people to bitcoin. I know that doesn't do anything to change this situation, but I hope it at least makes sense.
If you would like, you can close your new account here: https://coinbase.com/settings/cancel
Thanks for using Coinbase! Best,
Alex """

If you spend $100 we both get $5 in bitcoin
I would look into getting the MSI Afterburner to control GPU settings. I use it mainly to adjust the fan settings to keep the GPU cooler. Most cards will run up to 75C+ while mining, which is fine short term, but some more experienced miners told me to change the fan power curve so it stays under 70C if possible to extend card life.
https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner
I can also vouch for p2proxy pool mentioned above. I mine with a single card and only when at work or sleeping and get payouts pretty regularly.
You can consider a VPN also. What I would do is set up a small DigitalOcean VPS as an OpenVPN server. It would allow you to pretty much route all ports through your 1 or 2 open ports.

Sorry to be a pest, again. Just thinking, if I have to power 6 GPUs and provide power direct to the USB risers, and power the SSD drive and Mobo, the PSU is going to need a lot of ports? I don't think the one I ordered will be able to accommodate it - it's the EVGA Supernova 750 Gold, here's a link to an image of the ports:
http://www.evga.com/products/images/gallery/120-PG-0750-GR_XL_5.jpg
How does it work - I'm counting the ports and there won't be enough, right?
by the look on EVGA page http://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=120-pg-0750-gr That PSU comes with lots of power connectors for VGA and SATA/PATA so I think you will have enough options to connect everything from the start without additional adapters
its not environment, its medical afaik...and i like the idea. if we're going to waste electricity mining, it would be nice if it benefitted more than just miners.
edit: i guess its both
"Use the idle time on your computer (Windows, Mac, Linux, or Android) to cure diseases, study global warming, discover pulsars, and do many other types of scientific research. It's safe, secure, and easy"
You guys should take a look at https://shadow.tech/int
They pretty much solved the latency problem and even playing on their servers from different country only counts up to 40ms. Which is pretty damn decent for cloud gaming. Even tested it on a shitty wifi connection and it still worked.
I would recommend to use virtualbox. You can easily import that virtual machine there. https://www.virtualbox.org/ - it does a good job for these sort of things.
With Hyper-V you would have to create a virtual machine that is suitable to the VMDK. When you configure the HDD you can select a VMDK file afaik.
> you have to remember that Bitcoin's dev(s) are completely anonymous
While I agree with the sentiment of your post, I have to disagree with this statement. I'd guess most people familiar with crypto have at least heard the names of Gavin Anderson and Greg Maxwell. Of course everyone knows the anonymous or pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, the remaining devs (who are also the only active devs for the last several years) are far from anonymous. Their names are all posted right here:
https://bitcoin.org/en/development
I agree with David here. As I see it, this was not an attempt to make the official introduction video, nor did it aim for perfection. It was meant to spark some interest and spread awareness of VTC – that’s all.
A 30 second commercial is already in the works, and soon we should also aim for a very professional introduction video which explains everything in a non-technical way (like this: https://bitcoin.org/en/) . These are obviously extremely important, and we should aim for the highest level of professionalism for such videos.
But you can’t just expect that kind of quality for every single video about Vert. The Tyrone video which was recently posted (http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/21sn76/tyrone_explains_vertcoin/), doesn’t do much to teach people about Vertcoin, but still received standing ovations – and justifiably so. Why? Because it increases awareness, and as long as it is sufficiently interesting to make people think “What is all this fuss about Vertcoin – let me look into it a bit”, it’s been a success.
I am not suggesting that everything should be rosy on here, (and constructive criticism is always fine), but some people in this thread are overly negative and spend too much time criticizing instead of thinking about what they THEMSELVES can contribute. Don’t forget that David presumably spent time, energy and money on this.
Umm.... That looks like CPU miner (minderd) it is showing a quad core CPU, not cudaminer. And it is probably giving you boos because you are not using the vertcoin version of minerd.
Get the version here, https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share?s=D_fMD9YnSuMm5b8Ldi-jiA, and try again if you are CPU mining.
I really do hope the person is GPU expert, because anyone can write OpenCL kernel with __global's, but writing it with __constant's, __local's or __private's takes a bit of skill and improves performance greatly.
is this on a virtual machine or something? I didn't think there were machines without SSE2 still out there, its been 13 years! :D Just use roy's generic one then https://github.com/roy7/proxypool
Edit: ah, nvm, its in an issue with x86 and ghc it seems: http://www.haskell.org/ghc/docs/7.6.3/html/users_guide/options-platform.html

bitcoin introduction (watch the mining video too):
Why is vertcoin an improvement over bitcoin?

Basically, ASICs in mining cause centralization of mining power which causes centralization of the network, which is bad for security.
Hey depboy I don't know who this video was intended for but I assume that you read what I wrote and didn't mean it towards me. I would appreciate it if you would read what I wrote. If you did read it I will attempt to re word it for you. So I agree voting, currently, is a futile attempt to make a difference in the government. Federal government that is, of course, as at the state level you can directly vote for laws. The reason that voting does nothing is because you vote for people who then vote for laws. As it stands those who you vote for are already bought by politicians. There are 2 elections the money election and the public election. You can only run in the public election if you win the money election. So in the money election corporations choose who you are allowed to vote for. Therefore by the time you get to vote in the federal elections all of the candidates that are at all concerned with their citizen , real people, constituents are removed. Only those who are tied to the money, corporation, constituents. This is why what we are trying right now could work. This is our vote in the money election. If we can win in the money election then we will finally have a politician who will follow through with what he says as he was not bought by corporations but by the citizenry itself. Your thought of voting being irrelevant in contrast to my thought of voting being irrelevant, CURRENTLY is your learned pessimism. You transfer the casues of failure to completely different circumstances where that casue doesn't necessarily have an effect but you apply it differently. I would recommend reading "Learned Optimism" by Martin E.P. Seligman, it would improve you life alot.
Have you manually OC'd the card, or are you using stock settings? I get an extra 4-5 Mh/s on my 1080 with an OC. Comes at the cost of slightly higher power draw. I use one of these to monitor the electricity I'm using:
I'm assuming you're outlets are different because of your "0.3€/kWh" comment, but I'm sure there's a euro style one on amazon.
I used the search term "1060 6gb" and found ten different variations. I'm all about mainstream adoption and everyone getting involved with mining, but I do suggest doing some research before you purchase anything.
