Hey I use an app called expense manager
Assuming you have a smartphone, this might be useful for you! Here's an example how I use it to manage and monitor my total spending :) https://i.imgur.com/RTzQE8X.png
Be much better then using a notepad!
I would recommend Expense Manager if you use an Android phone. I use it for 4 years to track my expenses and incomes and the best part is that it's on the phone which means it's always available when I need to record something.
I saved quite a bit of money using an app called Expense Manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.markushi.expensemanager&hl=en
I wrote down literally every expense in order to track my spending. As has been said in this thread, make a budget. This is crucial! I would suggest, depending on how cheap you actually want to live, make a budget that at first seems extreme, and then add a bit more to it to adjust accordingly.
Another tip which in my opinion is extremely important is to have two bank accounts. One for saving and one for spending. It's common that if you have one bank account to lose track of how much money you spent (sometimes even with the app) and over-spend. I would suggest an NBB ta3bi2a for your spending. Transfer the money into the account at the beginning of the month and consider that your only money source. You now have X amount to spend a month - figure it out.
It would help to split the money on a weekly basis so that each week, you can make sure you're within budget. And even then, push yourself more. For example if you decide to live off 50 dinars a month (excluding rent), have your weekly budget as 10 dinars, therefore saving 10 dinars a month if you stick to it. If you saved that 10 dinars, then it is transferred into your next month, as opposed to extra money that you can now spend. Or, if you know there's something you want to buy, you then save for it by saving those 10 dinars each month until you can pay for it. Always try your best to avoid using the saving account.
I'm very happy with Expense Manager by Markus Hintersteiner. The GUI is pretty intuitive, it's free and has no ads. There are some In-App Purchases, but they are only for some advanced statistics, so I guess you won't need them. It supports export to CSV.
I always use the widget so it takes me directly to the screen, where I can type in my last purchase, which is handy.

I have been using this app for two years now, logging every movement of money out of my hand. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.markushi.expensemanager&hl=en
You can export to excel. It's a very basic interface which i like
On android i logged my daily spending for a few years with an app called Expense manager:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.markushi.expensemanager&hl=en&gl=us
When i switched to iOS, i now use Money Mgr. as i was able to move across my years of data https://moneymanagerapp.com/
And for my monthly networth update, i use excel.
I have been using Expense Manager for a number of years (on Android). It doesn't have many features but just enough to track income / expenses with ability to recur the regular ones, and is able to export as CSV

For simple an quick I would recommend Expense Manager or Financius.
I use this one and like it a lot (Expense Manager):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.markushi.expensemanager
It has a simple and clean design. Light/Dark themes. Backup/Restore. Can to export to spreadsheet. And I like that it has an option to disable income.
It's free, has no Ads, with a few paid features.
Unfortunately I am not sure if the app Expense Manager is open source but I have been using it for years. So far I am pretty happy with it. There is a paid version too for some couple "pro" features (e.g. backup to Google drive). I am pretty happy with the free one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.markushi.expensemanager
I am using this expense tracker. Of course it does have a budget function, but I never used it and it is absolutely not required. It even has a widget that can show your expenses for this month, if you are into that.
I have my main budget in excel with my salary versus all the fixed costs (rent, bills etc) plus a dedicated sum for all variable costs. These variable costs I then track in an app such as Expense Manager for Android . I actually like that I have to do it manually rather than automatic from the credit card, because that makes me aware of all costs.
I really like Expense Manager (there are many apps with the same name)
It has a clean and simple design with a good set of features. And there's no ads in the free version.
Usually these apps force you into income management, but I like that this one can only be used for expenses and has the income managment option for those who want it.

Unfortunately the app was last updated 10 months ago.
DS buat short term target (1-3 bulan).
Oh yeah I've been using manual trackers for the longest time namely expense manager on android and wally after I switched to and iPhone. But I find it such a tiring process tho! And the worst part is I don't actually analyse my spendings despite having tracked them for over a year lol.
Thought seedly as mentioned by u/wrybenjamin was pretty cool - they sync with almost all the local banks quite interesting!
I personally use this one , but I'm sure there are a lot of alternatives. The design is very simple and there are no annoying ads. You can divide your spending in categories and see how much you spent on each category each month. I think it's almost impossible to be frugal if you don't know where your money is going.
I use an app called Expense manager (android): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.markushi.expensemanager
You just enter each expense manually. Gives you nice overviews per expense category. Doesn't seem to be supported any more though last update has been a while), but it does the trick for me.
I also used to extract an expense report from my banking software and import it in an excel document. Added some code to automatically create pivot tables and what not. Worked pretty well, but then they changed the report's layout. Too lazy to update the code. :P
I'm using Expense Manager (the one by Markus Hintersteiner) and it's working really well!

It seems that your comment contains 1 or more links that are hard to tap for mobile users. I will extend those so they're easier for our sausage fingers to click!
Here is link number 1 - Previous text "app"

Expense Manager by Markus Hintersteiner - been using it for a while and it's pretty good, only downside is no sync across multiple devices.
