I use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=frinky.volumeKeys.music.controller
This only works when the screen is off but this is the only time I need to skip a track with the volume buttons anyway.
Frinky Music Controller was promoted here and works well. I use the pro version because of that, not sure what the differences are.
No worries, I'll share the headphone performance tomorrow. Sure, Go with 128 GB version.
If you love music and podcasts I will suggest using This app.
If you're getting a good deal, go for k20. It's worth it, you'll love the display (with thin bezels and NO NOTCH) and the rest of the hardware.
Best wishes and congratulations on your wedding mate! :)
Frinky Music controller is the app I am using in Note 8 to skip tracks when screen is off. No root required.
there are apps that let you double press the volume buttons for skip/replay track, I use this one,, which changes the normal volume buttons to skip/replay when the phone screen is off.
So not as good as the root feature, which I used to love too, but still better than nothing I think
I used an xposed module when on kitkat, unfortunately it needs root and it doesn't currently support Nougat
It's not a long press with this one but a short press instead (volume change is short press followed by long press). But maybe it suits you.
There are apps like this one which allow you to skip a song without turning on the screen. In my experience they don't work 100% though. YMMV.
Yeah the gestures are only when you can directly touch the screen. Quite a few phones have next and previous track set to the volume buttons when you long press them though, and if they don't, you can download something like Frinky Music Controller to enable it.
Well, to have the buttons for media control there is at least that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=frinky.volumeKeys.music.controller
But it doesn't work when you're listening at full blast, so it's kinda meh.
That would be nice but for what its worth here's an app I use to essentially do that. Instead of hold down its one press up to skip, one press down to rewind, double presses to adjust volume, and two press up two press down to pause.
Try an app like Frinky Music Controller.

Says it works with over 200 music players.
I've tried it on Samsung's official player, MusicXMatch, and BlackPlayer myself.
I use Frinky as a solution, it works alright.
Frinky will let you use the volume keys to switch tracks
Frinky Music Controller - lets you skip to the next track with your phone's volume buttons when the screen is turned off

It's not 100% reliable but most of the time it works pretty well.
Is this any different to Frinky Music Controller?
This app does exactly what you want :)
