This is why I use Gallery Vault. App for hiding pictures in an app that needs a password to open. If you use iPhone, then I don't know.
One was GalleryVault by "ThinkYeah" (as they call themselves on Apple store and have a privacy TOS) and "Gallery vault developers" (as they call themselves on Google Play broken link to no privacy TOS, go figure). They been around for years and had millions of installs. Leasson to learn is never trust chinese apps. If not rogue today they become tomorrow. It's time Google Play introduces option to block out all apps from certain regions since almost all rogue apps comes from China.

You can use Gallery Vault. It'll hide everything away from your gallery and also has an option to hide the icon and access it through typing in a code on your dialer
You can use Gallery Vault: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkyeah.galleryvault&hl=en It is a privacy protection app to easily hide and encrypt your photos, videos and any other files that you do not want others to see.
My vote goes to Gallery Vault. It camouflages as a calculator app. If you type in your pin number and hit "=" twice it'll open the app. Otherwise it works like a fully functioning calculator app.
It allows you to store photos and video. It also has a built in browser that allows you to save videos and images from the sites you are visiting directly to the app.
You can set a decoy pin number that opens a second secret image vault, so if someone asks you for your pin you can give them that and it will open a clone of the app showing them only the photos you want them to see.
If someone types in the wrong pin number, it'll take a picture of their face so you can see who was trying to break in later.
It backs up your photos and videos in an encrypted file through Google Drive.
Gallery Vault works for pics, video, and any other files that you want to hide/protect. They are all encrypted and the app can even be hidden, with several ways to open it that are secure.
I've used Gallery Vault for years. It's very secure. It has app disguise so nobody can find it. It has fake gallery/break in alert in case someone opens it. It has cloud backup/sync that is very secure. You can't even see the files on the cloud drive.
I've been using Gallery Vault for years. It secures pics, vids, docs, folders etc. It has encrypted local and cloud backup. It has several options for opening and hiding the app. I have used several other apps, and this one is by far superior to all of them.
I've used this Gallery Vault app for similar purposes before. Was super useful. It removes the photos from 'normal gallery view' and hence other apps can't read these photos.

The LG G7 One does not have the lock option. The lock option was added by LG whilst the One version runs pretty much stock Android.
However, you can use an app like Gallery Vault.
for hiding images I highly reccomend GalleryVault: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkyeah.galleryvault
I especially love the feature where you can make it appear as a calculator app (named GCalculator) and only by pressing a hidden button you can access to your folders and images.
Is what I use. It has encryption. You can use it offline. (You can disable internet usage to it if you're paranoid). It has sync with cloud feature but it doesn't use it's own cloud service instead it uses GDrive which is a plus for me. Disguises as a calculator app. And many more just explore the app.
Been a user for almost a year. No problems so far.
Developers can hide their own app from the recent list. For instance, GalleryVault does that.
However, I'm not sure if it's possible to hide someone else's app from the Recent list of apps. It might be. I just don't know.
I don't know if it's the best, but I use one called Gallery Vault. I got the pro version a couple years ago when they had a sale, so I don't know how limited the free version I linked to is.It hides photos and videos, lets you view them within the app, and will also let you unhide them. The app itself is quasi-stealth in that you can (more or less) hide the icon and pull up the app from the phone. It hides the files by creating a folder called "DO NOT DELETE!" or something like that, which appears to be filled with gibberish. So it won't pass any kind of serious forensic examination, but on the upside, you can backup the folder with little problem and restore it.
Gallery Vault works if you have a Samsung phone. I emailed the developer and they said they're working on adding Nexus Imprint support in the near future
I use gallery vault so not anymore.
GalleryVault does a good job of encryption.
