The device is good (and bulky), but what makes me move back to Pebble is the companion app Garmin Connect, especially quite crappy on Android (last use about 1 or 2 years ago, not sure how's it now)

You can check the reviews of the app on play store. That thing nerved me and forced me to give up my Vivoactive HR last year before Fitbit acquisition.
Looks like Garmin Connect.... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.garmin.android.apps.connectmobile&hl=de
I believe the Garmin Connect app will do this. You would each need to create and connect your profiles. I have a Garmin device, so I'm not positive, but I don't believe the app (or what I think your intended use will be) requires one.

HRM pro will not connect to IQ as that is the Garmin store.
Try connecting it to the Garmin Connect app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.garmin.android.apps.connectmobile

For things like running dynamics, HRV tests etc I think you probably need a Garmin watch that allows that, as I think it has to do those through the watch. Stand alone like you want to use it only provides: Stand-alone activity monitoring (steps, all-day heart rate, calories and intensity minutes) using Physio TrueUp
Oh yes, it will be good to track your progress and see your improvements, as a motivational tool. Here are some of the tools I used to track the metrics.
Intermittent fasting. Zero App
Food macros (you'll be surprised on the sugar content of many of the foods you consume). myFitnesspal
Exercise routine. Cardio (I have a Garmin watch, so I use its dedicated app) : Garmin, Strava
Resistance training/weights. Home Workout - No Equipment, Strong (if at the gym)
Sources: Intermittent fasting (Harvard study), HIIT benefits, danger of sugars, why we can cut carbs.
garmin has an app for that

Garmin Connect Mobile https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.garmin.android.apps.connectmobile&hl=ru , smartphone with Bluetooth 3.0 required.

Thanks. Unfortunately the Garmin Vivofit2 appears to be very unrealiable at syncing, going both from a review from last April and from reviews of the accompanying Android app. It seems that to link with, e.g. Google Fit you have to go through the Strava app and that even then steps taken are not transferred. Thanks but at £80 I will leave it. Glad you are happy with yours though and hope it continues to serve you well.
