I use the app Genius. It keeps a notification for the song that's playing and lets you click the notification to get to the lyrics. Not perfect but it works well enough for me.
I use Genius. It has everything I need in a lyrics app (a clean interface and, well... Lyrics) and you get the genius notes as a bonus, for those times when you're not sure what the hell is the meaning of the song.
If anyone cares about song lyrics, download Genius. A great material design lyric app that also can give meaning of songs and stuff. Really helpful.
Have you ever listened to a song and wanted to know what the lyrics to it are? Or wanted to know the deeper meaning behind those lyrics? Then Genius is just the app for you.
The app is able to recognise music played from your phone and display its lyrics on screen. Or, if someone else is playing it, the app can try to detect what song it is for you. Or, you can alway go the old-fashioned route and search for the song (either via title, artist or just a part of the lyrics) manually.
But (in my opinion) the best part of the app is the fact that most of the songs are annotated by community volunteers, giving you insights, deeper meaning, extra explanations and so on, verse by verse.
Genius app also has other functions, like showing informations about songs, artists, albums ..., being able to save songs for offline reading, and many more.
It does lack in a few spots, for example adding annotations is (for now) impossible on the phone, instead you need to visit the web version to do so. Despite that, I still love the app and would reccomend it to anyone who listens to any kind of songs, from casual listeners to hardcore fans.
The Genius app is very good for this (you have to enable the notification access in order to let the app know which song you're listening to).

I use the Genius app. It opens a notification when it detects the music you're listening to. Can confirm it works on Spotify.
There is an android and iOS app called Genius which offers lyrics but they don't follow the timing. On Android it can read your music playing notification and automatically shows the dropdown for the genius app.

>Do you remember doing something different with your phone before the problem disappeared? It could help a lot.
It could have been a number of things that I did, but I can't remember. I'm just putting a few possibilities out there that I changed around the time it sort-of fixed itself, but I didn't even realize it had been fixed until I realized it hadn't happened in a while -- so I can't really give you a definitive answer:
My pleasure, thank AD.nl they also had this in the article which I think is also quite nice although just shazam with a twist not twitch https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.genius.android&hl=en_US&gl=US

Written and recorded by Fenton Robinson as a single on the Palos label in 1967, this would be Robinson’s signature song.

Covered by Boz Scaggs in 1969, the song’s writing credits were misattributed to Scaggs and Robinson did not receive his due until later on. In 1974, the song appeared on Robinson’s album of the same name, Somebody Loan Me A Dime, on the Alligator label.

An excerpt from the Alligator liner notes reads:
"When Boz Scaggs recorded (and claimed he wrote) Somebody Loan Me A Dime in 1969, few rock fans had ever heard of the song or its true composer, Fenton Robinson. Now Scaggs' pop version, featuring Duane Allman on guitar, ranks as a classic of modern blues rock music, yet Fenton Robinson remains unrecognized in the rock world. Still, to the black blues fans of Chicago and the Deep South, and to the dedicated white blues addicts, he is known as one of the finest, most creative artists in modern blues – an unusually gifted and introspective man whose progressive musical ideas and continual reshapings of the blues form set him apart from his contemporaries. Fenton originally recorded Somebody Loan Me A Dime for a small Chicago label in 1967... ".
