My fav is Ghost Commander (GPLv3), old style fashioned "Norton Commander" for DOS ;) Lets you do windows shares by SMB plugin and SSH/FTP by SFTP plugin

Ghost Commander is the best open source android file manager I've seen. Specially useful in tablets for its dual panel. Maybe it doesn't have pretty material design, but it's more space efficient and you can easily notice filetypes based on color.
It's only drawback being that it doesn't support encrypted zip/7z (I use them for encrypting specific sets of data so that I can carry around personal stuff on the phone). But very few file managers do... none that is free software.
Ghost Commander is the best one. With a rooted phone you have access to every file and folder.

I'd recommend GhostCommander :)
There are also a lot of FS/connection plugins if you need one.
sneaker network. download to phone using ghost commander or somesuch. pop the sdcard and put in computer or use a usb cable to connect the phone to the mbp.
if you feelin' fancy you can try plugging a usb ethernet adapter into the mbp. i've had good luck with this in the past.
I'm not certain what you mean by
> does th[a]t mean that the information of the site is being downloaded on my phone
If you meant: did something install (e.g. malware) onto your phone? Highly unlikely, unless you enabled third-party sources and clicked install
If you meant: did your phone save content from that site? possible, but would likely be under your browsers download folder. Can easily check for it in device via a file manager (e.g. Play - Ghost Commander)
If you meant: what information about your phone was transferred back: IP Addr + User-Agent (+possible identifying information). See EFF - Panopticlick
Nobody mentioned Ghost Commander. Any reason you guys don't like it? I found it really useful, a bit on the retro side (if you ever used norton commander/far/volkov/etc.) and has some plugins.
> File Explorer smb free without ads: Amaze File Manager, MiXplorer (xda.com), Total Commander
In same vein as Total Commander: Ghost Commander.

The S pen is surprisingly useful once you get into the habit of whipping it out. I thought it was just another dumb gimmick when I first bought the phone, but I use it constantly.
I use it to write shit down while I'm talking on the phone almost every day. Another really useful feature is the ability to take notes without unlocking the phone. It's nice because you can just take the phone out of your pocket, pull the pen out, write something and save it without having to enter your passcode or do your unlock pattern.
S Note is Samsung's notetaking app that comes with the phone. It's decent, but leaves a lot to be desired. They've put so much work into making the S pen kick ass all over the phone but S Note is just a bland app, I think they keep it as barebones as possible because they want to make sure people who aren't tech savvy can pick it up and use it with relative ease, which makes sense.
Notetaking is only a part of it though, you'll find more and more uses for the pen as you get used to the phone. It's way more precise than using your finger and just makes doing a lot of shit faster/easier. A lot of 3rd party apps have some of their own nifty integrations as well. And shit man the version of Note 4 I have isn't even rootable (eat a dick At&t). You'll be able to go balls to the walls customizing what the pen can do with root, if you want.
If you decide to stick with a stock rom, you're definitely going to want to remove whatever bloat that comes with it. You can find a list of all the apps that are safe to remove by searching bloatware on this sub or XDA. there's plenty guides, and it will be really easy to do with root.
On the camera app that comes with the phone, there is a setting that lets you take a picture by pressing one of the volume buttons. Some much easier to get a clear shot this way. Your dick pic game will be on point.
Pull down on The Notification Bar with Two fingers to show all of the Quick Settings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cick on the chode pencil at the top right to Edit the order in which the appear. Hold down on any Quick Setting to quickly access the Settings of that particular Quick Setting
Find Multi-Window On the Quick Settings Panel, Make sure it is turned ON, then hold down on the icon to view the 2 different Multi-Window "Modes:" Split Screen View and Pop-up View. These are super useful features that you should familiarize yourself with.
Familiariaze Yourself with the Multi-Window Feature and the Multi-Window Settings Settings You'll Be Glad to Know In Advance
Settings > Data Usage > Mobile Data > Enhanced LTE Services Turn it OFF. Fucking worthless. Drains battery
Settings > Location > Improve Accuracy > Wifi- Scanning & Bluetooth Scanning OFF. Drains Battery. Does nothing for you.
Settings > More Networks > Nearby Device Scanning Motherfuckin OFF
Settings > Home screen > Transition Effect & Flipboard Briefing Turn OFF
Settings > Accessibility > Single Tap Mode This setting will fuck you so hard, in so many ways, so many times, still you'll never even realize it's happening. Turn that bitch OFF
Settings > Accessibility > Dexterity & Interaction > Air Wake Up "Hey guys, how about a piece of shit setting that murders your battery by turning the screen on any time you move your leg?" "We should put the setting somewhere totally fucked so no one can figure out how to turn it off." Turn it OFF. Never go back there.
Settings > Motions And Gestures > Direct Call Super neat feature. Jk. OFF
Settings > Motion And Gestures > Mute Only go in here once to make sure it is ALL OFF. Never return. These settings only exist to fuck with your life.
Settings > S Pen Take a look around. See some stuff the S Pen can do
Settings > Storage > Tap on SD Card to enter the page where you can unintentionally format your external SD Card.Tap on Internal Storage to find the only useful thing here, which is the bar on the following page reading, Cached Data Tap it to clear your app cache. You might consider doing this after updates or when troubleshooting. Clearing the app Cache tends to go hand in hand with formatting the Dalvik Cache. This can be done by entering Recovery Mode and selecting **Wipe Cache Partition* Recovery Mode can be entered by turning the Phone Off, then holding down the Up Volume button, Home Button, and the Power Button together at the same time* Clearing these caches won't hurt anything, but mostly only needs to be done when troubleshooting or following an update/OS Install. * For any other File/Data/Storage Space Management needs I would recommend Ghost Commander*
Settings > Security A false sense of Security can be found here by Encrypting your phone
Settings > Application Manager > Options (Three Dots) > Memory Helpful for checking what might be slowing your phone down/draining your battery
Settings > Messages > Advanced Messaging > Share Read Status Leave this on so people can know you read their text message, then give you shit for not replying. TURN IT OFF. Seriously, why would you ever want this on?
Settings > Messages > Cell Broadcast I have no idea what this is. Turn it the fuck OFF
If you're familiar with android phones, you probably already know about nova launcher. If not check it out on the playstore. A necessity IMO.
One other necessity in my book is an app called Swiftly Switch. Completely revolutionizes the way you'd navigate around any phone, but is extra useful for a phone with a big screen. Once you start using it, you will never look back.
Download the Visual Voicemail App from the Voicemail in order to use Visual Voicemail. You'd think a factory installed visual voicemail App would be a no Brainer. Apparently not.
Also, check out the Widgets. Samsung has some special Widgets that you might like.
Ummmm. What else.... RedditIsFun is the only Reddit app as far as I'm concerned. Reddit's official app is pure dog shit.
Gsam Battery Monitor is a tight app
Microsoft Excel: Surpisingly Solid app. Perfect for the S pen if you have any use for excel.
Motherfuckin OG Youtube Dude. Absolute must-have youtube replacement. check it out here: http://ogmods.net/home/ogyoutube
Theres an animation app called RoughAnimator that costs like $6 but its a pretty impressive god damn animation app even for someone with no artistic ability or animation experience whatsoever like myself. Works great with the S pen, fun to fuck around with if your waiting around or just bored whatever. One of the reasons I like to bring this app up is because after discovering it randomly, I decided to check out some other animation apps on the Playstore and they are all shit. If I was a dev of any other animation app on the the Playstore and then one day came across this one, I would kill myself out of shame. There is absolutely no comparison
Speaking of shame, here is an example of an animation I made
Here's how you access all of your installed apps in the Play Store and how to access it in your settings. An app like Ghost Commander also allows you to see everything installed.
You should be fine after uninstalling it, but if not, you can use something like Mega (or create a second Dropbox or Google account).
You should try Ghost Commander, simple, lightweight, dual pane.
I use Ghost Commander (F-Droid | Play Store), but the design looks old.
Amaze it's good (F-Droid | Play Store).
But I'm not sure if they support WhatsApp/Google Drive backups, I don't use that. (Neither Play Store, if you are curious).
Ghost Commander Open source dual-panel file manager without ads.
