This Hushed app? Read their privacy policy, they literally collect SMS/MMS, voicemail, and who and when you called. Literally one of the worst apps for privacy.
Under the circumstances - do yourself a favor and install a VOIP softphone service on your phone right now. There are hundreds, I don't know your phone, and I use a different service (never tried this one) but here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hushed.release&hl=en
Do know they use Twilio for the backhaul (like mine).
Good luck!
No dumb questions. I'm experienced with escorts. Been seeing them for 30years.
Hushed is an app that you pay to have a second number. You can choose the area code & plan. I change my number every time as to not have anyone get used to my current number.

Remember, many escorts have pimps that may fuck with you. As well, at least 50% of ads listed are scams. Weeding through these can be daunting.
When I click on a link to the Play Store from a DuckDuckGo search on Bromite, I get a pop-up asking if I want to open that link on the browser or the Aurora Store. Naturally I click on "install," I get an error message on the Aurora Store, namely Hushed and a banking app but eventually the banking app allowed me to install it one day when I tried it again.

P.S. Speaking of Hushed, if you want to use a VOIP on a de-Googled device, OpenPhone is the only option that has worked for me.
They are almost certainly someone you know or you have malware on your phone. If you have malware, a factory reset stands a good chance of eliminating the problem.
If it's someone you know, try using a virtual phone number service like Hushed. Basically, you'd create a handful of virtual numbers. Give these numbers out to friends. Keep track of which friend gets what number (including your wife as she might also be the source). When you get the messages, you'll know which friend is responsible.
Here's how you spoof a phone number: http://lifehacker.com/5853056/how-to-spoof-caller-id

Been using it for a couple of years now. Sole $3/mo
Just about as easy. You ever see apps like these?
I have used "Hushed" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hushed.release and I have seen other apps in the app store for this.
