I am deploying Video webRTC to my own messaging app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.getintouch.play this month.
The best part of WebRTC is that it's peer to peer. Once you have exchanged the peer IP/PORT data (via normal non-voip communications) there's nothing you can do to stop it. It's not possible to block WebRTC because it runs on random ports for both clients.
Plus I plan to add peer to peer notifications so that you can chat with people nearby even without internet (using WIFI direct).
Help needed for testing out the video when done. I will be repaying the kindness with $10 Google Play/Amazon gift vouchers
Sorry no. The message is definitely encrypted but definitely NOT the metadata (your contacts, who you spoke to , what time you spoke, how long etc)
Imagine yourself as the telephone operator. Your friend A calls you and asks you to connect to B. You do that and you hang up. Now you don't know what they talked about but you definitely know A talked to B.
WhatsApp uses your phone numbers and sends all your phone numbers to it's servers to search for other users. They could use phone number hashing but they don't and they won't.
I tried to recreate a whatsapp like messenger using a hash of phonenumbers as identity and opensource server https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.getintouch.play
It's half-complete but that should be better way to do it. After hashing I cannot do a blanker search on who called who.
May I suggest my app for sharing location with a contact or a group?
No ads, realtime and completely free. I will be opensourcing the client and server in a few months.
Link Me: InTouch Messenger Premium
Name: InTouch Messenger
Pitch: Quickly share your realtime location for a limited time with your friends and groups.
Road map : I have just integrated SMS so that you can message friends with either SMS or data. Also integrating WebRTC for making video calls.
HI, I have my own startup which focuses on location sharing for limited time with messaging (text, audio/video, SMS)
Typical usecases are parents who want to their children to share their location while on field trips or educations trips, monitor parents's location when they have Alzheimer or in a new location etc.
I got pretty good traction in around 4 months (7000 users) and I plan on adding more features (for example switch messaging from sms to data and vice versa, webrtc video calls etc)
The app is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.getintouch.play It's still in beta and I plan to release in two months the first version.
Do you think I can apply for YC? What do you recommend?
many thanks for this posting.
Hi, I noticed you used whatsapp. Do you mind integrating this with our api? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.getintouch.play
We use standard XMPP for communication
Or you could just let me know the details: do you listen for requests on this number?
Can a person be autoregistered on installation?
Can I send the tip to anyone in my contacts once registered?
Do you have any documentation for this please?
HI Guys, I have a similar app that allows you to chat, video calls in the future and share location in real time.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.getintouch.play
I am still working on dotting the i's and crossing the t's
Me and my friend use InTouch Messenger to share our real time location. Really good in urban areas when we are catching up for a coffee or anything
We are in to "real time location sharing". Our beta is out at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.getintouch.play
Right now we are in the process of adding peer to peer audio/video communications via WebRTC
You are welcome to install the app and give us a critique
>One star reviews are blanket criticisms that serve no purpose and are just vindictive of some people to do it. For other genuine reasons the user must leave an explanatory comment so that we devs could improve. > >Why the 1 star? The app crashed? You don't like the icons? Doesn't serve your purpose? Are you worried about the permissions? Please speak up rather than voting from anonymity. > >The App does NOT spam, nag you for ratings, NO ads, is free and I spent months building it. I do not ask you to rate it 5 stars or even rate it at all. But if you HAVE to rate it 1 star then it's proper etiquette that you explain why. > >A star rating is like a stranger calling your baby ugly in a crowded public transport without offering reasons

I have a messenger app that gets as close to personal as possible https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.getintouch.play
I haven't requested permission to pull your identity because I don't need it (either from FB or even google accounts). The drawback is that you have to select an avatar and type your name which could have been avoided if I had pulled it directly from google account
Crashes just states the device and android OS version. Check screenshots. http://imgur.com/nivwJxB,5I3hlsf
I wish there was a way to communicate and inform the user of the fix but all the information is pretty anonymized.
InTouch Messenger FREE
This lets you share your real time location with a specific contact or a group in addition to full blown messenger.
What sets us apart:
So the next time you are catching up with your group and want to share you location for limited time with your group use InTouch!
This is just an "open beta" release so there might be few glitches which has been overlooked.
Do you own the groups or are you going to spam it?
If you own it and are not spamming it can you advertise my link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.getintouch.play ?
