If anyone wants to check out his work, Joe was kind enough to release all his lone wolf work for free distribution. Someone made an excellent android app called Lone Wolf Saga (not the 3d game).
This is the Joe Dever Lone Wolf series of choose your fate novels. It aso tracks your inventory and acts as a combat rolling system, an tracks your progress on a map ala Indiana Jones, so its kind of a hybrid RPG. Brings back many rainy days in my youth.

Even more good news.
The entire text of the Lone Wolf series has been released to the public via Project Aon. There are several sites and programs taking advantage of this.
You can get a free Android app that has all the books, handles your inventory, and rolls dice. This method also prevents you from cheating, so expect to die a lot until you figure out which route is the safest.
Now, if only someone would make an app for the Grey Star books. There were only three, but they were my favorite.
The Lone Wolf Saga: A set of excellent old-school gamebooks, created by Joe Dever and ported to android. Free to play, donate if you want.
I really recommend Lone Wolf Saga from GDV Games as it has an extensive store of gamebooks made by Joe Dever. While they haven't recently released any newer books, they normally do release at least one book a year, but they still have built up quite a store of CYOA adventures/gamebooks. It is genuinely one of the best CYOA games I have come across because of the many paths it has and because of the extensive adventures.
Here is the link for the app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio&hl=en_GB
If you use Android, you can play through the Kai, Magnakai, and Grand Master series using a free and very well made app called "Lone Wolf Saga" on GooglePlay:

Sorcery 1-4 never ceases to amaze me. It does the impossible. It turns thirty year old Choose Your own adventure paperback books into the hottest game in PS4 console age. Wow!
If you like Sorcery, check out another great CYOA series turned into games--
Lone Wolf Saga, Free link. It's an original surprisingly good tough hero adventure with many branching storylines! Later,
An excellent series of over 30 Game Books.
As the last surviving member of the Kai monastery, you journey to help the people of Sommerlund and learn what has been lost.
Lone Wolf Saga is a good version for android.
TB mentioned Lone Wolf a couple times.
They're free and you can find them here. http://www.projectaon.org/en/Main/Home
There's also an awesome Android app for it, called Lone Wolf Saga, and I think it's the best way to play/read it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio
It's basically a choose your own adventure with rpg mechanics. It's hard as nails, tho. When you die you have to start over. And you die easily :D
Qualcosa di completamente diverso: l'intera serie di LibroGame di Lupo Solitario.
E' accessibile online qui: https://www.projectaon.org/it/Principale/Home
E su Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio
Lone Wolf Saga, a completely free mobile version of the Lone Wolf gamebooks.
If you fancy playing it, and as someone further down says, there is an android app of the series that seems to be updating regularly:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio
I seem to remember that there was someone doing a mod of the books for the original Neverwinter Nights, but I don't think it got too far off the ground.
Parts 1-3 are out now on PC and mobile and Part 4 will launch later this year on both platforms.
As for other text based adventure games, there's To Be Or Not To Be, which is a straight port of the hilarious book of the same name and anything else by Tin Man Games. To Be Or Not To Be is a parody of Hamlet, so it's a lot better if you've studied Hamlet in school or are just a theater person but it's still really funny even if you don't.
Personally I disliked the Lone Wolf game that's on Steam. Way too much combat. However, theres a straight port of the books on mobile and it's awesome (and free and ad-free!)
not a board game, but there's an app for an old set of choose your own adventure books called Lone Wolf. You make a character that saves stats between books, it's pretty awesome in an old school sort of way:

not to rain on u/snowlock27's parade but there's also an excellent version of the lone wolf and grey star books for android app as well. It's almost cheating to not have to wear holes in the character sheet with an eraser lol..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio&hl=en_US
I am interested in this, but I would like to know how your app differs (or improves upon) the Lone Wolf Saga app?
I recently played a great offline game – Joe Dever's Lone Wolf series of adventure books. There are a bunch of app implementations. I like this one.
Any of the Tin Man gamebooks. Here's their page.
Just do a search for "gamebook" in the play store and you'll get a ton of returns, many of them free.
C'è una app gratuita per Android che ha dal numero 1 al 12 di Lupo Solitario (in Inglese, però), sapevatelo.
I think Lone Wolf Saga is better than kai chronicles try it, it has more than 12 books.
The Lone Wolf Saga is still free with the option to pay a little for some add-ons (bookmarks and such).
Pour les nostalgique il y a une version android officielle qui est sortie il y a quelque temps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio
Lone Wolf Saga : Lone Wolf Saga on Google Play Store
Per Lupo Solitario: There's an app for that!
The best text based rpg serie of all time imo on android Lone wolf saga for free
The "Lone Wolf" series of RPG choose your own adventures were ported to an android app, and they've held up pretty well. They're actually better in an app because the character sheets would get ruined really quickly when you re-read them after "dying", and the app properly transfers your skills and equipment forward through each book.
I played the heck out of this version and read these books a ton as a kid in the 90s:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio&hl=en_US
There's another version here, which I haven't tried, but it's a fan-made port so it's free as well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lonewolf.neworder
This is oldschool and the best...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio
Check out Lone Wolf Saga, a free game that recreates the classic gamebook series from Joe Dever for android.
I found Lone Wolf Saga to be pretty awesome and super engaging.
Best implementation of Lone Wolf I have found: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio
Been playing it recently. It works really well and thankfully, has an auto-battle option.
copypasted from an old answer: The best ones are the Lone Wolf Saga, in my opinion. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio More than 14 free books about the same character, Lone Wolf so there's a lot of development. It's from an old gamebook series so they'll get to 20 books eventually. Delight Games also offers free gamebooks: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.delightgames.delightgames. Otherwise, if you don't mind paying 1 to 5 bucks, the obvious Sorcery Games and 80 days from Inkle https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=inkle+Ltd and Tim Man Games https://play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=8439381091842483054 are recommendable, Choice of Games also has some free and some paid ones, https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Choice+of+Games+LLC Choiche of Broadsides and Choice of the Dragon are free. Also Mobile Armor Marine https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.hostedgames.mtfh

For future reference, the term for genre of game is "visual novel" since a "graphic novel" is like a really long comic book.
Less visual, but still novel-y, Joe Dever's Lone Wolf, but it's pretty old, not sure how it'll run on modern devices. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio&gl=US
And a more video game-y version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.reply.forge.lonewolfcomplete
There's also the Sorcery series. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inkle.sorcery1
If put money on it being these, there an app if you're interested OP
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio
I've been though the first 5 books.
Unlike Sourcery! I find it incredibly clichéd but it's free, so start playing here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.GDVGames.LoneWolfBiblio

Way of the Tiger (6 books) Fun series about a Ninja. Your adventures lead to you becoming the ruler of city. One book deals with decision-making and politicking, next book deals with seeking alliances and leading your people to war against an invading army.
Blood Sword (5 books)From the guys who brought you Dragon Warriors, this series is interesting in many ways. It has four characters, the Warrior, the Trickster, the Sage and the Enchanter and it also supports up to 4 players cooperating to "win", with each player playing one of the four characters. Very nice flavor and setting.
Some of the "Virtual Reality" gamebooks are also very good. Do try "Down among the dead men", it's an extremely fun adventure with pirates in a fantasy setting. Heart of ice is also gud.
The Cretan Chronicles, Golden Dragon (especially The Eye of the Dragon), Grailquest, Falcon are all worth a try.
And don't forget about the Sagard books by GARY GYGAX
First piece of advice is to lay low and do not get into arguments about religion or politics within your family or anyone else while you are in the circumstances you are in right now. Try to be financially independent once you are 18 and are a legal adult. Online and physical resources that may be useful to help create a private space for yourself online or digitally may be a factor, though not a entire solution, to make your living circumstances a bit more bearable. The first step to having materials and services normally found in other countries that you like is to start participating in their institutions as much as you can. The list of resources will help do that. One hobby you could have is video games.
