I haven't personally photographed an eclipse yet, but I can recommend the LunaSolCal app, which has helped me to have a better vision of both sun and moon risings and settings. It also gives you a heads up about eclipses.
LunaSolCal is the app that I use (and usually recommend here) to have a better understanding of the movements and timings of just the sun and moon. Now I plan better, both the location and time for night sky photography.
LunaSolCal: Simple, clean perfect. Has a nice assortment of widgits too. all the info i want easy to access. great for travel great for planning to catch sunset or sunrise or when the moon will mess up your stargazing.
Firefox browser with Noscript. The real web (both desktop and mobile) is abysmal. Sometimes i end up using other browsers and forget how shitty most websites are.
A firewall. You can only sometimes prevent an app from calling home via permissions, firewall is great for stuff you know you never want to call home. This is much tougher. for those lucky enough to have a rooted phone you can do actual firewall stuff. there are Firewall apps that set up a VPN for non root users. they work ok but there's a big trust issue.
Tasker. Steep learning curve, can be a bit unfriendly but quite powerful. Can help you automate some things or even replicate the functionality of other apps without the need to purchase or download an app. One of my base needs was having triggers to automatically take my phone in and out of silent mode at work.
A better photo viewer. I hate stock photo apps. They like to pull all the photos from the whole phone and dump them in one big bin. I use QuickPic since I can easily set up a folder structure. this way I can use photos i took with my SLR on my computer and dump them into a folder to show around I can also organize other things without having every jpeg on my phone sorted by date.
Recomiendo la app LunaSolCal para Android. La uso para saber las horas de salidas y puestas, tanto del sol como de la luna. Útil también para saber las noches de luna nueva, y por lo tanto mayor oscuridad.
