The NOAA Weather Radar app is decent, but I only use it when there are weather alerts so others may know better apps
I use the CLIME app which is endorsed by NOAA. I pay the $10 a year subscription. The live precipitation radar map is amazing. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apalon.weatherradar.free
I am not sure why you got downloaded but this is the app and I have the premium version
You get a lot of features for a few dollars.
Weather Radar Live looks good on my old Nexus 7 hanging on the wall ️

There is an app called CLIME, uses rain radar to tell you what's coming -

if they apply the same care to the rest of the world then the UK Met Office webpage is the one I trust the most https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/forecast/sr2y7gxtj#?date=2022-09-06
>Clime - yes, already downloaded, thanks. Apparently it's this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apalon.weatherradar.free
Yes that one
>CodeRED - this one, right?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ecnetwork.crma Why does it only have 2.8 stars? Did you mean a different app by that name? Anyways, downloaded it but if I find a higher-rated CodeRED, I'm replacing it.
That's the one. Maybe leave it off with such a poor rating idk. It hasn't given me any trouble but seems like others don't like it for some reason.
> Or this paid and expensive one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crittermap.backcountrynavigator.license
I use this one. The newish XE version may be a better choice but I haven't tried it yet.
>Gaia - thanks, already downloaded the other night. That is, if this is the one you're referring to: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trailbehind.android.gaiagps.pro
Yeah Gaia is solid also. If I had to pick one app for mapping I would pick Gaia, at this point.
>HP 48sx emulator: This one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.czo.droid48sx
Yup that one.
RPN is Reverse Polish Notation

That's not for everyone lol
Before I switched, for a long time (like since Android KitKat 4.x) I used RealCalc although it isn't the highest rated and I think it is nagware. But it is decent enough.

There are some better rated ones that look promising. Hiper scientific calculator and Scientific calculator plus 991 which seems to emulate the Casio fx-991ES
I downloaded the 991 to try. I have been a Casio calculator guy since forever (fx-115).
>Animated Knots - There are a few by that name. Did you mean this one for $4.99?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.animatedknots.knots
This one.
But the others might be good too. I can save my favorite knots for quicker ref. Categories are nice. And I like the way they do the animation.
But I haven't looked at other options.
Anyway, I hope this helps. By the way I only meant to suggest apps to consider, rather than claiming they were better :)
Clime - yes, already downloaded, thanks. Apparently it's this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apalon.weatherradar.free

Backcountry Navigator - this one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crittermap.backcountrynavigator.xe Or this paid and expensive one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crittermap.backcountrynavigator.license I downloaded the free one in the meantime, but in order for me to get that pricy paid one, I need to read some compelling reasons for it, if you would give some please.
Gaia - thanks, already downloaded the other night. That is, if this is the one you're referring to: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trailbehind.android.gaiagps.pro
HP 48sx emulator: This one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.czo.droid48sx Alright, just downloaded. BTW, is this what you meant by RPN?: https://www.ihi.org/resources/Pages/Measures/RiskPriorityNumberfromFailureModesandEffectsAnalysis.aspx#:~:text=Formula%3A%20The%20Risk%20Priority%20Number,detection%2C%20and%20severity%20of%20impact.
Animated Knots - There are a few by that name. Did you mean this one for $4.99?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.animatedknots.knots Or this free one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bt.bestknots Or this $1.99 one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobilicos.howtotieknotspro Or this other free one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.howtotieallknots Or this 99-cent one?: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appsolutegroup.knots Which of these are the most recommendable?
Try Clime: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apalon.weatherradar.free
Has a useful widget that includes wind direction & speed; https://imgur.com/QjkUWDq.jpg

I pay for the premium subscription, but not sure if that's necessary for the notification.
This one is Better anyway..

It has a 7 day free trial so you can see what it is like. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apalon.weatherradar.free
Using the stock launcher. The weather icon is from NOAA Weather Radar & Alerts.
Do you really need a weather radio if you have a smart phone with decent service?
I have verizion and it is very rare if i have no cell service. There are lots of weather apps that will know your location based on phone gps location and give you things like weather and amber alerts on the phone for the area yooou happen to be in.
I happen to use this app on my phone https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apalon.weatherradar.free&hl=en_US
I like the radar maps along with alerts. My wfe uses some other app on her phone. we both severe weatheer alerts.
