You might want to try out one of these solutions to make it more painless. I haven't tried them personally but thought it would be worth pointing out

Ok it looks like the stock players aren't very good for just copying a file or backing up like that as they store playlists in a database..
Luckily there's a nice free app that seems to work perfectly in my 2 minutes testing for backing up and restoring your playlists. So that would be my suggestion.
I'd also suggest switching to something like Shuttle+ (or some free alternative) as the stock player while it's ok isn't really the best.
AFAIK there is no official mechanism to download playlists.
If you spend 30 seconds Googling "export google paly music playlist" there are some scripts and an Android app that can do this.

Might be all i need,....and/or Im going to remove sdcard and then try accessing my playlists,if I cant I assume they are stored on sdcard
I found a solution but it's tired. * Make a playlist with the songs you want in Play Music. * Download Playlist Backup on Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ssi.playlistbackup) * Export the playlist from Playlist Backup (I'll write the Export is Failure but you get a .txt file) * Move the .txt file to PC, open, delete the #EXTINF:-1, and put the song titles in order * Go to http://www.ivyishere.org/ivy select Copy/paste and paste the titles from .txt * Continue until Step 3 and do the copy from the image * Open Notepad and paste * Copy the spotify:track:xxxxxxxxxx and search it on Spotify. * Finally you have find the song
I use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ssi.playlistbackup to store my playlists, it actually works quite well! You just need to make sure in the settings that the playlist extension is .m3u. I have loads of m3u playlists on my SD Card and this app has saved me many times.
Well... playlist backup
You can probably format it in a way iTunes can import. Not sure what Apple Music will allow.
I had the same thing happen to me a couple of times, try this. It looks old but works!
