Motion capture wireless security camera.
Install ipwebcam for android on the phone, and then ispy on a pc.
Total cost: free.
Watching the delivery guy throw your package in the bushes: priceless.
This app does that, you can set it to backup automatically and upload to Dropbox or google drive
http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-recover-a-bricked-samsung-galaxy-s3/
And
Maybe that would help?
By the way keep the money buddy. You shouldn't offer because I know there are a ton of nice people on the Internet who would gladly help for free.
I got those two links by simply Googleing "bricked Samsung s3."you should do the same
Mine stopped working after a while as well. Verizon replaced it, but if you want to do it yourself, here's a hand dandy guide.

I used to use titanium backup (still have it installed and use it to share app data across devices) until I discovered NandroidManager. This app is used to manage and create nandroid backups (you can make a nandroid without turning off your device!!). The cool stuff is that you can restore the data/recovery/call logs/sms from the backup, with a nice and clean interface. Instead of having to backup all my apps with Titbup every time I flash a new rom, I just make a nandroid backup (that I would do anyway, using TWRP or CWM) and after flashing everything I just install the app from the market and select which apps and data I want to restore from the backup.
Extra and nice features are: Manage backups (delete, compress, etc), check md5 sum of your backups (to see if it is ok or corrupted), flash recovery images (from a nandroid or using a .img file), restore wifi access points names, etc.
Same here. I blew up my Nexus 4 and an HTC Droid DNA. Also damaged my Nexus 4 screen but I think it was from the pressure of the ballooning battery and not the heat itself.
OP, don't do this unless you're going to mod the phone to run without a battery.
If you're going to do it anyway, for your uses I would run the latest SlimRom. You might also use 'RTSP Camera Server' because it uses the hardware h264 encoder instead of maxxing out the cpu for mjpeg video like Pavel Khlebovich's 'IP Webcam' does. It has very few features compared to IP Webcam, but the picture quality is better and it's easier on the phone hardware.
Personally, I use Signal. It does end-to-end encrypted voice and text messaging. It's also open source; several security specialists have evaluated their code and concluded that it is, indeed, reasonably secure.
Oh, yeah. And it's free. It's maintained by a grant- and donation-supported nonprofit whose goal is to encourage the use of high-quality encryption in communications.
Have you gotten your camera back? Not sure if this will work but I extracted the TouchWiz Camera apk for you from the rom I'm using (cleanrom5.0). Maybe you can sideload it.
Which app are you using? Try reinstalling the app or try a new app. I recommend Reddit Sync or Flow for Reddit. I'm currently using Reddit Sync and love the UI.

I have installed using TWRP and super gapps from here you need check what version works with the cm build that you are installing.
That's not easy to predict. I got my s3 about 1.5 years ago and I don't think I will replace it for at least another year (maybe longer). But two years is a long time in terms of mobile tech and in another 2 years the hardware will be 4 years old. By then, it will probably be showing it's age.
Sounds like you have to choose between iphone 5 and s3? Not an easy choice.
For me personally, I might choose the s3 because
I can install software that is not from the official Play Store and transfer/play media files without iTunes (or similar software)
I can change the battery if it goes bad or I want to continue using the phone even after the battery dies
SD cards are supported so I can easily add extra harddrive space if needed.
There is more truly free or open-source software available because there is no fee to post apps in the Play store. There's also F-droid, a seperate, "app store," with only open-source apps
The screen is larger which I like for videos and playing games
I don't use iphone, but I imagine people who do might like
Though smaller, the screen is better (super Amoled is terrible in daylight)
Consistent hardware requirements. All iphones run the same software whereas sometimes Android phones will not be compatible with certain apps (haven't run into this with the s3 myself, but it can happen, especially as hardware gets older)
Some people believe iPhones are more simple to use overall (I am not one of them)
Granted, I have not used an iphone for any extended length of time, so I'm guessing. You might ask for some real pros of the phone from someone with more experience!
EDIT: Sorry for the huge response. You have an s2, so you probably know all this already. Guess I felt like yammering lol
Switch Sound file converter can strip all your purchased music of the DRM and convert them to whatever you like. Then you can use Doubletwist to transfer playlists and the like from iTunes.
Get a wireless QI charger. I have one from Ravpro. You will also need the receiver that sticks behind the battery. You can find these on Amazon. http://www.ravpower.com/qi-wireless-charger-black.html Receiver: https://www.amazon.com/DigiYes-Wireless-Charger-Charging-Receiver/dp/B00DYOL2RY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476744375&sr=8-1&keywords=DigiYes+Wireless+Charger+Charging+Receiver+Module+for+Samsung+Galaxy+S3
My Boy! apk. Done. Or pay under $5 for no ads. DraStic (Nintendo DS) works pretty well, too. ePSXE, too, but gets a little warm. After install, you do not need WiFi or any of that other business on to use them either. You can even use a bluetooth controller.
Unless it is for practice, is there really any reason to remove the rest? These work perfectly (or near perfectly) for me. So I guess, get Gapps nano?
Oct-N-M2-20170825-dtmo, btw.
Go to settings > application manager and go to the "Running" section. From there you can see if your memory is being hogged up by some app running in the background, and you can uninstall/disable said app.
Low storage space can also cause lag. Go to settings > storage and make sure you arent low on storage. If you are, maybe backup some pictures and delete them, or get rid of apps you don't use
It doesn't sound like your phone is rooted, if it isn't, I suggest doing so. There is an app called Greenify ~~that requires root~~^(edit: After looking at the app description, it doesn't look like it requires root anymore). What Greenify does is that it "hibernates" apps. In other words, prevents apps from running in the background. Definitely helps with lag and battery issues.
Worst case scenario, just back up all your data and factory reset your phone.
A number of samsung handsets shipped with faulty eMMC chips in 2012, causing "sudden death" failure. This app will tell you if you're affected: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check You can read more about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ultimate-gs3-sudden-death-thread-t1993044. iirc it has been firmware patched since before KitKat
No. Memory on your phone costs no energy to be used. Clearing it and refilling it does. And that is all that clearing memory will really do. Maybe in realllly bizzare edge cases it could save you battery life. But generally speaking, it hurts battery life.

Ah I see... Misunderstood you then. In that case :
I'd say head over and download ID3Tag-It ( http://download.cnet.com/ID3-TagIT/3000-2169_4-10544467.html) and then plug your phone in and open the app, then in the browser Window on the left side of the app, point it to the folder on your phone/SDcard and you can edit them right there :-)
Hope that helps!
EDIT: Also, if you want the ability to edit the tags on your phone or in the go, check this app out in the play store, let's you edit the tags directly on your phone and had the ability to edit multiple ones at once if I remember correctly, don't hold me to it though haha ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ADnet)
It's part of Apple's enterprise package. Companies buy technology solutions from compaq or HP, in this case they probably went through IBM as Apple has been working with them on this exact thing. Apple has been pushing their products into the enterprise world with enterprise applications for POS, inventory tracking etc..
https://www.apple.com/business/mobile-enterprise-apps/
Remote profiles and data wipes are part of this package.
The call/data issue as I understand is something to do with the version of radio ROM and the code from which the ROM is built, I've never fully understood the way any of that works, but I think it's basically an API mismatch between the radio and the software driver in Android that interacts with it.
My phone has started rebooting lately, it seems there's an issue that crops up with the power button becoming overly sensitive - from time to time mine will register a press if you just run your finger lightly down the side of the phone. Having the phone in my pocket can be enough sometimes to hold it down for the ~8 seconds required for a reboot. That issue seems to come and go.
Some isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud was sufficient to clean the contacts in my headphone jack on one occasion, if you're into dismantling the phone it looks like the headphone jack is relatively easy to replace.
Unfortunately its pretty difficult to replace the screen on this phone yourself, you could always try it anyway though. This site has a guide on taking it apart and you can find parts on ebay http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung+Galaxy+S+III+Teardown/9391
You could also sell your broken phone on ebay to people who want parts for it or try to find a local business that replaces phone screens, although most seem to do only iPhones. At the price of $250 you may be able to find a used one for less.
i run apex launcher/desktop visualizer/fancy widgets etc.. and have customized the look of my phone all without rooting it. does running a custom ROM require rooting? would it benefit me more than the way i'm currently running it. if i'm being annoying, let me know, i'm just curious. and i prefer dialogue over endless google searches
if you still have your university email heres a link to get 3 GB more for free, it's not a referral link, like I said I haven't used it, almost bought it but it looked it transferred them. I'd check out that iSyncr since it's cheaper and exsape said he loves it
Hmm. I don't see how they've managed to block it on the GS3, but not the Nexus. Here's the .apk I used last week to get around Verizon's latest block attempt if you want to give it a try.
If you are rooted, you should try Greenify: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en It nearly doubled the battery life of my Galaxy S3 to 11 1/2 hours with pretty high usage (although this is also with an extended battery which only got me around 6 hours). The donation package for Greenify https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify.pro also has many more features and I would totally recommend it.
For most of your questions, I found this article to explain things pretty well.
Yes you can majorly screw up your phone if you are not careful.
If you are satisfied with the phone as it is and don't plan on rooting or flashing a ROM, then I would wait for 4.4 (If it comes, I'm not sure how unlocked phones work with updates.) If you could screenshot the About Phone section in the settings menu, then I could give you more information about if your phone feasibly rootable.
If you're interested in rooting and flashing a ROM, I would recommend using Cyanogenmod becuase they have an all-in-one installer that lets you root and flash a ROM and the click of a button, making things a shit-ton easier if you find the whole process confusing.
Use this tool remove the drivers completely, anything with the name samsung and then plug in your S3 to your PC. if the drivers don't install properly try a different cable.
Yep. Mostly because this is the only thing I can flash.
When I try to flash CM10, I get this: assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "d2att"
Two lines below I see something that sounds like operation aborted.
I'm currently trying to put the cellphone 100% back to stock and I'll start over. I don't get where I can find the "real" clockworkmod? I say this because the one I found was in a tutorial video on youtube and the guy made a little zip package with Odin. When I do a research, all I can get is this and there is no download link for cwm: [http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager/developers/d2att?name=Samsung%20Galaxy%20S3%20(AT%26T)]
I can't speak for other carriers, but the Sprint S3's shutter sound was set to always be audible, no matter if the phone was on vibrate or mute. I don't take creepy stalker photos, but I do occasionally take photos at times or places where it's disruptive to have that sound going off.
If you plan to do the same thing, here are the steps:
I believe BlissPop is based upon CM12.1. They make changes to improve stability and bring new functionality and customization to the rom.
For some info on kernels: Take a look at this and have a read of the paragraph in the link below. Different kernels can be used or tweaked to have an effect on the device such as overclocking or underclocking.
Not exactly the answer you're looking for, but this could help in the long run: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Earpiece-Earphone-Speaker-Receiver/dp/B00CFHQKK0/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1459369755&sr=8-11&keywords=galaxy+s3+button
I got this one over a year ago and it's still going strong:
It's NFC compatible and only $8.50.
have you tried using "bettery battery stats"? that's supposed to help.
My solution was just to get an extended battery this one. It's been really great. The first one they sent me didn't work, but the second one did. It's double capacity of the stock battery. I usually get 3.5 hours screen-on time. Even if the battery busts and i need to replace it, it would still be worth it if it lasts every 6 months. The battery itself is just 10$. The link includes the TPU case.
I had gotten a new battery (Anker 2200 mAh) just prior to doing this, and it easily lasts me all day (7am-7pm). My normal usage was streaming Google Play Music for about 30 minutes each way to/from work, some light online browsing, with bluetooth off / wifi on / syncing off.
After 7pm I'd usually have about 20% (ish) left so I'd either charge it when I went to bed overnight, or plugged it in to charge before going out for the night to get to 60%+.
Disclosure: Been using the GS3 with this battery & configuration since this post and it's been just fine. The more recent nightly updates are more stable since I first posted.
I bought mine for 60, 9 months ago. That was a really good price. I had to use all my ebay shopping skills to do it.
The smooth coating on the glass was worn off, so I had to buy a glass protector for $10. Without it, it collects fingerprints and oil fast. I don't think people take that into account when buying a used phone. But I'm still happy with my purchase. I wasn't really happy with the battery life I was getting and I eventually just got an extended battery (this one) and I love it. So I put an extra $26 into it before I was genuinely happy with it.
$50 is a good price.
Hey guys I want to ask one thing is this REALLY the authorized seller. Can I trust it?
It's suitable for daily use. It's makes the phone a bit larger and heavier, but I actually prefer the added weight , because I feel like the phone might slide out of my hand without the battery+case. I actually can have a good grip on the phone with this combo. It will fit your pockets just fine. I actually also recommend that you buy this It helps you charge the battery way faster. Hope this helps!
The charge port on the S3 becomes detached from the motherboard after a while. My favorite solution was to start using wireless charging because its much cheaper than getting it repaired. To do that you need one of these which is basically a sticker that goes on the batter and connects to the contacts inside the phone and you also need a QI compatible charger like this one.
The chances that you could successfully use an HTC connector in a S3 seem slim.
The safest bet would probably be to get an external battery charger and spare battery, such as: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B0IS6MU
If all you want is a launcher, why not try the official TouchWiz Launcher? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.app.launcher
And you can always Nova/Action Launcher and throw an Icon Pack.
After you solve the immediate problem, install the free version of Dumpster or similar. Dumpster is a recycle-bin app which automatically keeps copies of most files you delete from your device.
Sounds like a stuck power button. Avoid touching it and use the home button to bring up the lock screen. Install this to turn the phone off. Screen off
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
Never heard of this, but googling android app detects chip problem led me to:
Not sure if that's what you're after.
Try using the app greenify (you may need root for better results). Also are you also on the newest snap chat update? I know when i had that installed it would destroy my battery life.
Thanks,I may try this app:
Might be all i need,....and/or Im going to remove sdcard and then try accessing my playlists,if I cant I assume they are stored on sdcard
Most mapping apps, including Google Maps, require an internet connection. For offline navigation, I like Nokia Here Maps best.
My favorite launcher(custom home screen) is the beta of Nova Launcher Prime. It's definitely worth the $4 that it costs.
A good Reddit client is always nice. My favorite is Sync for Reddit for its intuitiveness and large amount of features.
Instead of that, I used this XDA post to enable softkeys by adding them to the build.prop file with this app. I now use them more than the hard buttons!
