Enjoy, it works perfectly fine and is everything you'd want out of a lyrics companion app. Free with ads (of which I haven't actually noticed any so far, dunno why). No iOS version though I believe, sorry to say.
If you're in a band or just care about lyrics, this is the app to have, it's wonderful.
Just use QuickLyric. Less bloat and bullshit.
Also isn't potentially selling your music preferences to advertisers.
Edit: dev is also VERY open about feedback. Oh. And it's open source.

Edit: u/geecko is the dev
Because you're a poweruser. We all are. Simple as that. Adding functionality we might find crucial is not what makes an app successful, and being way overbearing is one of those things: don't clutter the fucking AI.
It's very conventional wisdom in terms of UX design, and I'm not even saying that Spotify is perfect or anything, but they are successful in what they do for a reason: noobs don't get bombarded with options they don't know how to use in the first place.
That being said, Spotify is also fairly open in terms of integrating your app with it. I basically just came here to make people aware of QuickLyrics, a lyric app that improves on previous functionality and works flawlessly, at least for me. Get it, it's indispensable.
Have you considered using a dedicated lyrics app?
I'm the developer of QuickLyric (and a Spotify subscriber). I really think it might suit your needs. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Version 1.8 was just released today. :) Cheers!
ps: Truly sorry for being so insistent.. It comes from a good place!
I've used this for over a year, it might be of use to you:

I use this, works perfectly with BlackPlayer, give it a go:

This one pops up a bubble when a playing song has recognized lyrics. When you click on the bubble, it has an overlay with the words. It's good, but some of the lyrics are wrong sometimes.
You can try several things:
1) QuickLyric Android App finds lyrics online and saves them for offline use.
2) You can find lyrics manually and embed them in music files using tag editors.
3) You can try to find the music videos with synced lyrics (on youtube, vimeo etc...) and download them
Hey /u/kokofeshis
I'm pretty sure you're using a super old version of the app, from like 2 or 3 years ago.
You need to update to a version 2.1, available on the Google Play Store or F-Droid.
QuickLyric, which is my main app. I'd love to have your feedback! ;)
And EasySpeak, a project we started at a hackathon a couple of weeks ago. It's basically speech synthesis made accessible to a larger spectrum of people who have a handicap, thanks to Android Wear. It's functional but far from perfect. We got the 2nd place, and we're slowly improving it over time. (wearwolf is just how we named the repo before we started) I'll record a demo soon, if anybody's interested.
Quicklyric is pretty decent app for that
I personally recommend QuickLyric - it's free software, unobtrusive and pulls synchronized lyrics from a bunch of sources.
A redditor made it, it's a simple lyric app. Here's a link
QuickLyric - Instant Lyrics | 4.3 rating | Free with IAP | 1,000,000+ downloads | Search manually
> QuickLyric is a top quality lyrics app for Android from developers you can trust! Countless lyrics apps either bother you with a notification or force you to manually type the name of the song every time ...

QuickLyric could maybe do a part of the job?
I use this on android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.geecko.QuickLyric I found that it works with the vast majority of songs on spotify with a few exceptions.
I switched to QuickLyric after Musicmatch implemented ads. Would definitely recommend:

I made an app for that on Android, it's called QuickLyric and already has 100.000 downloads. Check it out!
