I like ES File Explorer. It's a file manager, application manager, task killer, cloud storage client, FTP client, and LAN Samba client.
FX File Explorer with the FX Plus add-on which adds FTP,SFTP, SMB, & WebDAV
Version 1.8 was just released today. :) Cheers!
ps: Truly sorry for being so insistent.. It comes from a good place!
IP Webcam + TinyCam Monitor! (I also use it with my iPhones)

edit: I prefer to count them as one since you need something to view your cameras.
The Spookening! I recently got it for free in the Halloween-themed Humble Mobile Bundle and enjoyed it so far. There are a few more "spooky" Android games in that bundle so you might want to check it out.
SleepSound - An app to help you fall asleep
It's a FREE installation with a 7-day trial period. I was commissioned by a couple of sleep research doctors to build the app. The app uses a combination of light and sound to help calm your thoughts allowing you to fall asleep, I've used it and it is effective.
Ambio is pretty cool. There are a lot of included sounds, and it lets you mix your own sounds from music you have on your device or downloaded elsewhere. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.happyexabytes.ambio
Listen to live audio from over 5,300 police and fire scanners, weather radios, and amateur radio repeaters from around the world (primarily in the United States, Canada, and Australia, with more being added daily).
Join My Bridge is a conference call line management and dialing tool designed specifically for Android. Whether you're in the office, in the car, or on the street, Join My Bridge aims to make accessing conference calls as painless as possible.
Just published it last week as my first app, updates will surely be coming as feedback rolls in.
PDF Max 4 - nice way to write some stuff down and annotate, highlight or manage your files. But not the most stable and reliable app in this ecosystem ...and that is what we are all looking for, right?

The only android app I know of off hand is good ol' Ustream
Never tried it myself, but if the service is still up and running it might work. Pretty sure you need to pay to broadcast.
Logitech Harmony app - rather than buy additional remotes, you can re purpose any android device with Wifi as a remote control for your media equipment.

edit: of course, you need to own/buy the logitech hub too!
Firefox Keeps my bookmarks, history, and passwords synced across Firefox on desktop (Mac and Windows) and my Android devices, includes built-in Reader view which works well with Night, Daytime, and Auto modes.

Deep Sleep Battery Saver - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.batrsaver&hl=en
Deepsleep battery saver constantly puts the device into deepsleep mode while the screen is off, and turns it on for a set period of time. For example sleep for 30min, wake up for 1min. During awake time it will sync your emails and social network. I find this very handy when using 4G
I’d suggest you trying FullReader. First, the app can use read aloud function any text from any book or document and in any language. Then, you can customize this process and choose the voice and the tone of reading, and also set the timer for reading aloud, so that the process won’t go further if I take my mind off the text.
Camera FV5 is by far the best I've found, loads of functionality and customisation.

For translations/dictionary for myself, I often use the app Offline dictionaries https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.nghs.android.dictionnaires&hl=en It has a bunch of different dictionaries (anagrams, synonyms, etc.) that you can download in a bunch of different languages. And it has translation dictionaries too!
Well it might not help your grades go up, I made an app that was inspired by parties at school.
It's a group music player thats lets everyone see everyones music and vote on what plays next - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cypher.slipstream&hl=en
It's not specifically for students, but I sometimes use it to take notes when all I have is my phone:
And of course, QuickLyric. ;)
I got this from a previous apparena episode: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neximolabs.droidtimelapsepro&hl=en_GB
Very nice app. Plug your phone in to the charger, load the app, set it up, test it, then let it go and you are good to go. Watch the clouds moving. Watch your fidgeting while sleeping, watch a boiling pot of water... what ever it is your plans are it will do great.
Read Android system and application notifications using text-to-speech and configurable notification matching rules. Read new SMS and chat messages, announce song titles on Google Play Music, hear important emails, and much more. Works great with bluetooth headsets and in-car audio to listen to notifications without needing look at your device. Use rules and custom text-to-speech to control exactly which notifications are read aloud.
App Sharing app's is another genre like flashlight apps where there's 100's with dubious permissions, why I created App Links in an afternoon to get round this. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.codechimp.applinks
The first barcode app for Wear to hit the market last July. I've got a loyal userbase and have continually improved it since its first release of just a QR code so if you've used it already it's worth a second look.

TIM stands for TIME IS MONEY, but call him Tim :) Basically you tell it how much you make an hour and clock in, it will display in real time how much you're making. You can save and edit shifts too.
It's also fun to watch it in the bathroom and see how much you made while pooping
I use various todo app's depending on whether they're for projects (trello), longer term (keep) but for immediate urgent things I created BarTasks
xender is the best file transfer app...better than both pushbuttel apps as it shows file system and its work on same wifi network to transfer big files https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.xender
hCamera FREE
A nifty tool which clicks a photo and shoots videos discreetly. No Preview. Minimalistic to the core. Served best on Android Lollipop+ devices.
Gtastks has served me well ever since Astrid died. All the features I personally could need and it syncs with your Google Tasks.
There are some other nice apps, but they are all switching to being subsciption services it seems. Basically, I keep my real Todo in a text file on Dropbox. I use GTasks to remind me of things on that list, things I need to add to the list, and recurring items.
TDM is "Smart Lock" for pre- lollipop devices. Can use it with WiFi, Bluetooth, Pebble, Wear, and Location to keep your device unlocked. Google broke it in Android 5.0, but it works again in 5.1.
N Counter is a counter app that's more flexible than a plain click counter. You can add any amount and set goals for each counter. For example, one of the things I track is gift card balances. I can add the amount when I spend it and see how much is left. Anything you can count can be tracked.
Ez pdf Reader had been my go to pdf reader and annotator since early gingerbread days. They do have a paid version. However it's well worth whatever the price is now. I bought it way back in Android 2.0 so I don't know the cost of it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=udk.android.reader
Moon+ Reader Pro Nice looking app with a lot of customization features. Built to read your ebooks...but also handles your pdf annotating stuf in a more or less rudimentary way.

Just found out about this one from XDA. Might be a good one to try out: http://www.xda-developers.com/paperboy-news-reader-a-feedly-client-done-right/

Cyberdust: Great to follow significant figures and get interesting info. Often promoted by Mark Cuban (+blogmaverick on Cyberdust).

I have a couple of apps that I've been using for years. They may be a bit too simple to be Arena-worthy, but are interesting nonetheless.
ShareListener: it can convert links that open in browsers into share intents. Useful when using apps that allow clicking links but not sharing.
Flashify: it can convert share intents into links that open in browsers. Useful if you want to open a page on another browser.
There are probably better and more comprehensive options out there by now, but I couldn't be bothered to look for them.
