Never used BlipBlip, still, I'm glad you've found your solution.
In any case, please note, majority of "periodic" reminding/alarming apps use fixed timing which becomes a problem for majority of people. From my experience you'll start ignoring it, most of the time, already on a 2nd day. Unless the timing is randomized, your brain will adapt to the reminder like it was a ticking clock or AC going off/on.Please find an app with randomization functionality. Good luck.
Um, you could do this today for much less. Buy a cheap smartwatch with vibration, set up a reminder on your smartphone, and you're done. (Randomly RemindMe is a good app for that.)
Randomly RemindMe can do this as well and let's you customize your notification quite a bit. It is otherwise light on extra features so if you need more of a tasks oriented app besides just reminders the other app suggested might be better. Don't let the name fool you as it can do multiple specific reminder times during the day as well as random. (Disclaimer am the developer).

I use Randomly RemindMe for this and it's so good. Even the base version has every setting, trigger, filter, and configuration you need.
Randomly remindMe can do this. It will have one notification and keep reusing it if done with a single reminder. Eventually I will add the ability to do it without a notification at all as your request is the third time I have seen this asked for on Reddit. It can do specific times or random times in the day. Disclaimer it is my app but it's free with no ads.
While it is a little bit of self promotion Randomly RemindMe will do exactly what you are asking for. It is entirely free and has no ads as well.
You can set to have the reminders randomized throughout the day or just set specific ones exactly every hour, it can do either.
There are random reminder apps like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jamesmorrisstudios.com.randremind&hl=en_US that one is just the first I found that mentioned weekly/monthly reminders.
But unless you're going around intentionally pulling out stuff before you flip the switch... it's still essentially unplanned even if you set the date and time a month in advance. Plus side, you don't end up with half cooked food if it's out for more than a few minutes, depending on how you're cooking at the time.
I've always found that mindfulness helps with discipline. When you really take a look at what you're doing, you can figure out what you should be doing.
Try an app that gives you random reminders to be mindful. If you aren't into the "mindfulness" terminology, try a reminder that just says "What should I really be doing?"
If you're an Android user, I recommend Randomly RemindMe (no affiliation).
Randomly RemindMe can do the random reminders along with a lot of the customization. Disclaimer is that it is my app. It has been fairly popular here on Reddit though and was originally asked for by a redditor.
My app Randomly RemindMe was built almost exactly for this purpose. It was created from a previous request here and is completely free with no ads (also open source).
To get one reminder per hour just pick your start and end times then for number of reminders make sure you pick one per hour in the range you set.
Just found this one, which did not come up the last time I searched Google Play for "random reminders". 🤷♀️ It hasn't been updated since 2016, though. I'll try it if you will. 😉

I struggle with this so much. I can often go weeks or longer without interacting with friends and family.
The best solution I've come up with so far is to use an app that reminds me at random times throughout the week to message or call them.
I prefer randomly for a couple of reasons -
Here's the app for those interested in it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jamesmorrisstudios.com.randremind&hl=en_IN&gl=US - for android
Random reminder - for iphone
I have a similar app that reminds me randomly throughout the week to message my friend on Facebook.
Its called Randomly RemindMe
You set it up to send you reminder/notification at a random time during the parameters you set. Mine is set to go once a week during waking hours.
Helpful to have something to prompt me to stay connected with friends.
Check out Randomly RemindMe. I'm pretty sure it does what you want. There's also StayOnTask.
Both apps use random timing to notify you of whatever reminders you want to be notified about.
Hey, check out the app Randomly RemindMe. It's pretty barebones but should work for your purposes.

I use it to send myself 5 random notifications a day for posture.
I use an app on my phone, Randomly RemindMe. I set it up to go off about 25 times over a 12 hour period. So on average it's about every half hour, but it's random. I also have it remind me of whatever practice I want to do (feel my feet, notice thoughts, pay attention to breath, whatever). It's great and free.
I incorporate several by way of daily reminder. I use a free random time reminder app on my phone to remind me of two of several Stoic ideas each day. Memento mori, premeditatio malorum, dichotomy of control, virtue is the sole good, follow nature, view from above, et cetera all show up at random times in a specified period. I'd say dichotomy of control helps the most.
Self promotion warning but my app Randomly RemindMe can do all of this but it lacks any kind of sync or web support. The public beta version is required for location reminders but will be in production in a couple weeks.
I can't find it now but one of the big android sites posted a list of popular apps with their target api of 23. I will edit it in if I find it.
(Self promotion warning) My app Randomly RemindMe fully supports the new permission model. Granted its just the storage permission that is needed so it was easy to add.
My best app is Randomly RemindMe. Born from an app request here on reddit and has continued to be updated heavily from feedback here as well.

How about reminders that track if you acknowledge them?(disclaimer I am the dev) Randomly RemindMe
A quick search also finds several well rated apps specifically for habits. There are more as well.
There is also a similar app for those of us on android called Randomly Remindme
There is also a similar app for those of us on android called Randomly Remindme
Maybe an app, something like this maybe?
It's called Randomly RemindMe ya mongrel.
I just write random reminder to google play and I found this app.
I saw this after googling "random time notification app": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jamesmorrisstudios.com.randremind&hl=en_US
Does this do the trick?
Literally, "Randomly Remind Me" :-) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jamesmorrisstudios.com.randremind
This app should work
Randomly RemindMe can do this with the "Interval" timing mode.
